This story has been with me for four months.
Chuan’er-ge and Nian-ge gradually change from strangers with blurred faces and unknown behaviour and manifest their own appearance. I accompanied them through seven days of life and death and like them, I am psychically and mentally exhausted.
At the time I wrote the island part, I was busily writing my paper*. My study workload was heavy and I was burned out. I could only write 2,000 words a day and typing each word was extremely difficult. However, after they left the island, Chuan’er-ge‘s desire prompted me to write the rest of the story at a speed of almost 8,000 words a day. I could almost hear him nagging in my ear as I was typing. He would turn around, scolding Li Sinian and scolding me at the same time, otherwise I wouldn’t be able to write the complete novel so quickly. Thank you Chuan’er for your support.
(T/N : Honestly I have no idea if it is a paper/thesis. Reminder, English isn’t my first language so I have no idea what words I should use so yeah, paper…? *shrug*)
Originally, according to my first outline, the 1st part of the story was to end where Li Sinian committed suicide by admitting his identity as wolf. The high seas cruise was the 2nd part where the reunion happened and the 3rd part was in Snowstorm Villa, because it is a classic scene in a mystery novel. In the original 1st part, there is no romance and I really don’t understand how to make the two people have a heart-to-heart relationship. In the 1st half, this author almost pressed their heads to force them to fall in love, which ended up exuding an embarrassing air, the aura of strong and deadly straight men. I then give up, say, let’s forget the romance and take it as an adventure mystery novel and don’t bother about romance. Regretfully, in the middle of writing, Nian-ge got poisoned, Chuan’er-ge resolutely jumped into the sea. Then Nian-ge got stabbed with the needle and Chuan’er-ge resolutely kissed him. It seems that the character now has a soul and life, escaped from the second dimension and lives vibrantly, no longer under my control.
This sense of losing control over the character is one of the greatest joys of my writing process.

Every time I find people discussing witches on Weibo or discussing plot’s emotional lines in the comments, I feel that I am instantly charged and I can write another 8,000 words in minutes. Because I want to finish writing before the festival, that way friends [T/N : reader-to-be] who haven’t read the novel can spend their vacation reading this novel so the last ten chapters are a little rushed. It has nothing to do with the main story. You can read it or not and it will not affect your reading experience.
