Sitting down in the comfy living room with decorations and plants that seemed to inspire warmth was Layton and zero.

May had gone into the kitchen to prepare tea to entertain her guests, zero was a little uncomfortable she didn't like being kept in the dark, she had tried to get some information from May's expression as she was ushering them in but May had not uttered a single word but kept a polite smile on her face as she led them into seats in the living room.

"Are you sure it's her, she's old, I thought you said she had used spirit water." Zero whispered to Layton in a soft voice that only he could hear.

Layton in response only smiled and said softly" focus on your hearing "and then closed his eyes breathing softly.

Zero followed Layton's movement and focused all her attention on her hearing, at first everything was normal but suddenly in her hearing, she seemed to hear the sounds of various huge rivers hitting the reefs.

From her ears her whole perception was immersed and she saw a phantom of numerous red coloured rivers all connected and moving swiftly roaring as the passed various channels, it took a while for zero to figure out that she was perceiving May, the vitality hidden and locked in her frail old body was immense.

Zero was sure she was not opponent of May if they both went all out, but zero wasn't to frightened although she couldn't compare with her head on, zero was confident that she would be able to escape and make her pay a price if conflict later erupted.

Footsteps shook zero out of her contemplation as May walked in carrying a pot of tea and serving them, silence filled the room as no one wanted to be the first to speak.

Finally May herself seemed to run out of patience and couldn't help but ask curiously "how did you find out about me, I thought I was hidden particularly well."

Layton opened his eyes with a smile upon hearing that, he keenly noticed the lack of rejection and alienation in her tone.

"You did actually, I ignored your existence the first few times but unfortunately a certain fire bending grandmaster breathing technique that had a similarity to the avatar made me aware of your existence."

"Couldn't it have just been a coincidence?"

"It could have, that's why I made sure to check, before he died I saved him and naturally searched his memories in return I made sure his consciousness would be sent to his beloved apprentice along with the inheritance Giatsu was supposed to deliver." A strange flash shone in her eyes upon hearing Layton's words.

"When will you wake him up." May asked while sending a hostile gaze towards Layton.

"I never intended to use him to threaten you, you know I've been stuck up there for a while, now that I'm down here as long as I see Zahir, he will naturally wake up," Layton said leisurely not intimidated by the stern gaze May was sending over.

"you came here early for me to help right," May asked getting down to business, although arguably Layton could be held responsible for her lover's death, she was aware that if Layton had not connected the two realms earlier, the circumstances would have been worse, in a way Layton was a buffer which reduced the normal friction and destruction which would occur if the two realms collided naturally and violently, an individual as old as her wouldn't be swayed by too much emotion.

"yes, as you can see this body won't last long, I need you to make sure it will last until the day of connection and I need to be awake not frozen."

Although it wasnt obvious Layton at present was trying to fine tune and quickly increase the strength the body could exert and that was causing various subtle damage in important parts of the body.

"why, don't you only need it to be used as a connection."

"change of plans, he somehow found me earlier and now I am sealed for real, he is stronger than I thought and one of my companion and his seems to have been controlled by him. so I need sufficient combat power, Zahir and Raiden need to…"

"That was not what we agreed." May interrupted Layton and said frowning, she was invested in Layton because he had already explained to her they would soon leave and she knew of his intention to promote the plane which would allow her to breakthrough and she had a feeling if she broke through she would become a god in this world directly.

"plans change" Zero who had been listening to the conversation suddenly inserted coolly.

Layton quickly explained not wanting May to lose her temper at this moment.

"you should be aware that we aren't able to fully utilize our full strength here, but the object the monk has obtained will allow my companion to showcase his true combat power, and I believe you have seen my companion's men, the object will affect them too, we can't use anyone else because we have no idea if who will be on our side after all he is a master at playing with the spirit."

May hearing Layton's explanation calmed down she knew he was right after all since the worlds started reconnecting she had gotten clearer memories about the previous avatars battles with the monk and knew very well the horror of intruders who could exert there full strength and endless means on the plane if she wasn't sure she was stronger than all previous generation of avatars she wouldn't have even wanted to confront the monk alone, and now if the wizards' companion was controlled by the monk and could exert his original strength then no matter how strong she was she wouldn't be able to ensure Layton was not interfered with.

"Zahir and Raiden aren't strong enough" she still mumbled not resigned.

"don't worry we will take care of that. I'll go and prepare everything else and make sure there are no more surprises."

Zero quipped as she vanished from the room leaving May and Layton in the room as they waited for the return of the other residents of the house.
