Chapter 50 Part 1:  Revitalized

The myriad bonds that surrounded the Holy Grail broke down one by one.

The soaring dais descended of its own accord, and the Holy Grail stood at eye level.

Park Chae-Eun put on her gloves and carefully lifted the glass box.

She opened it, and the Holy Grail was finally revealed.

‘At the gate, I used to eat dinner while looking at it.’

It soared to the sky and shone like the moon.

“These daggers have been soaked for 24 hours, as you requested.”

The Holy Grail was filled to the brim with holy water and there were also two ordinary daggers.

They had been placed there beforehand, under the watchful eye of the National Treasure Administration, so there was no question of controversy.

I took out the daggers and checked the information on them.

「Verifying item…」

Verified Item: ‘Holy and Blunt Dagger’

Grade: F

Attack Power: 5-6 (Temporarily deals 105-106 Attack Power to a specific target.).

Description:

A blunt dagger. Unsuitable for slashing purposes.

It is temporarily titled “Holy.” But it has a pretty ordinary description.

“Please bring the rotten meat in.”

“Permission granted.”

Soon the rotten meat was brought in. It would have been more accurate to experiment with demons or undead-like monsters, but since monsters cannot be brought outside the gate, this rotten meat was the only thing that could be experimented with at will.

Basically, holiness is the opposite of corruption. Although it couldn’t reverse death, it could restore the flesh of decaying things by stabbing them.

“Ms. Park, please give me someone to assist me. I don’t mind if one of the Red Flames comes with me.”

“In that case, I’d like to try.”

Yoon Kang-Baek went first. I nodded, seeing no reason to refuse.

“Do I just take this and stab it?”

“Yes. You go first.”

The dagger plunged into the flesh and began to regenerate at a slow pace. Whatever little life force was left in the flesh was being revitalized. Of course, the effect is very weak compared to living flesh.

Although the flesh was restored, it was still in a half-decayed state. It’s almost dull within the decay.

“Then next, let me try it.”

“If what the Netherworld Guild claims is true, it should be more restorative than this. I’ll tell you, it’s hard to recognize its effectiveness unless it’s a noticeable difference.”

It was a kind remark. But I didn’t feel uneasy. I stroked the Holy Grail once, lightly.

This item consumed someone’s soul.

“You’ll have to see for yourself.”

Poof!

The dagger plunged into the second rotten meat.

“Oh…”

The reaction was distinctly different.

The meat under my touch was rapidly returning to its original state. The flesh that had fallen apart without elasticity gathered back together, and the places where blood had pooled and rotted were slowly reddening.

Soon enough, a hunk of freshly cut meat was laid out in front of him.

“I didn’t know that it would be this effective.”

That’s true. The sword, which had done little more than cut the back of Beelzebub’s hand when Kim Ki-Taek held it, had grown strong enough to cut off his life when I was the one wielding it, though I’m sure there were more deadly places to stab.

“I have to admit, this… is definitely something.”

It was a neat submission.

“Red Flames, do you mean to say that you acknowledge the claims made by the Netherworld?”

“I admit it. It’s inevitable if you have eyes.”

Haha, there wasn’t even a hint of regret in his smile. It was more like he was fascinated.

“You’ve taken away a valuable talent. When did you have eyes like Seo-ho’s?”

“I always had good eyes.”

“I know. But I’m not talking about those eyes.”

It was quite surprising to hear Yoon Kang-Baek, the leader of the Red Flames Guild, refer to “Seo-Ho” in a friendly manner.

The two guilds were supposed to be on bad terms.

Was it because I was used to seeing the Blue Serpent run by Lee Eun-Woo?

“Han Seo-ha, right?”

“Yes. Please to meet you.”

Yoon Kang-Baek turned to me.

“It’s been a while since we’ve seen a hunter reject our offer, which is actually quite refreshing. I heard that you also rejected the recruitment from Blue Serpent? Hahahaha!” Once again it was a roguish laugh.

“I hope you don’t regret your choice.”

“Thank you for your concern, but I’m sure I won’t have any regrets.”

Changing the name of the guild doesn’t change my value, whether it’s Red Flames, Blue Serpent, or Netherworld it doesn’t matter.

I’ll still move up the ladder.

“Further proof will be conducted at a later date. The exact schedule will be sent to notify you in advance, and please note that you may be penalized if you do not attend.”

Park Chae-Eun began to wrap things up.

“Red Flames and Netherworld, this shouldn’t take too long, since the matter has already been agreed upon by both sides, and the share distribution will be discussed again to reflect that, so please confirm the schedule and plan to attend the trial.”

With those words, the Holy Grail was enclosed inside a glass box again.

It was a thrill to see the closure.

‘Until next time Dahlia.’

With that, I turned around and headed out.

That evening I went out to eat meat with Unnie. She invited me to go out to eat with her to thank me for my hard work that evening.

I was busy eating the meat that kept piling up on my plate, while sitting in the middle of the other Netherworld members.

“Cheers to our Lucky Charm! Cheers to us!”

“Cheers!”

“Cheers!”

I couldn’t help but smile at the sight of Hye-won playing happily amongst the noisy crowd, and at Jo Yeon-ho looking on in disbelief.

“Cheers.”

I raised my glass as well, and a clear sound rang out.
