A Contractual Marriage with the Best Leading Actor Chapter 97

Xi-ge is a Good Man (4)

“This is something we’ve decided before the marriage, which is to go according to how his marriage partner acts.” Shang Guang paused before saying, “If his partner were to be difficult and demanding after they had a taste of his money, then he wouldn’t show any love for them.”

“If his partner is professional enough, then Xi-ge can sacrifice a bit of time to… accompany his partner to act as an affectionate couple.”

“Can you imagine what would the public think if Xi-ge and his significant other were cold towards each other and had no interaction?”

“They’d smell something fishy. Perhaps they’d think that… I have material to blackmail Xi Chengyun, and that’s why he married me? Or maybe, they’d suspect that I was here for Xi-ge’s money?”

“Exactly. So Xi-ge’s intention is to make his significant other look good, to let everyone know that you both married out of love, and not because of some other shady reason.”

“Or else after your divorce, his fans would say that you’re cunning and changed because of money. Accusations like these won’t disappear overnight, and such verbal abuse might follow for the rest of your life. As long as Xi-ge is still active in the entertainment industry, it doesn’t matter if it’s your second or third marriage, there’d be paparazzi who’d take pictures of you and talk bad about you.”

Shang Guang unknowingly sighed as he talked. “At that time, I’d never thought of anything like this, but Xi-ge had it all planned out all along.”

Back then, Shang Guang even thought that 50 million was perhaps too much.

Xi Chengyun was unconcerned and apathetically said that he’d lose more than 50 million if he were to marry him.

Previously, Shang Guang wanted to disapprove. How could he lose out when marrying a rich, handsome, fit and famous mega-celebrity?

But after some thought, he decided to keep his mouth shut.

Princess Diana is a historical figure who’d passed away in a car crash because of the paparazzi. As such, one would know that being the significant other of a public figure was not always a good thing.

“So…” Shang Guang adjusted his expression and continued, “It doesn’t matter who Xi-ge marries, as long as the person is obedient, he’d do the same for them.”

“Oh!” Bai Qi replied.

Shang Guang looked at his facial expression.

‘What’s up with this reaction?’

‘Isn’t there anything else?’

Shang Guang couldn’t sit still.

He was worried that Bai Qi would get the wrong idea, and was worried that he wouldn’t be able to bear with the truth, so he decided to tell him upfront.

‘But, this shouldn’t be too late, right?’

‘Can Bai Qi take it?’

Just as Shang Guang was starting to feel distressed…

Bai Qi gave him a thumbs up. “Xi-ge is a generous person!”

‘Xi-ge is simply too considerate.’

‘No wonder he has so many fans.’

‘Their love was worth it.’

‘If it weren’t for the fact that I already stan too many celebrities, I’d be a fan of one more,’ Bai Qi thought.

Shang Guang was puzzled.

Shang Guang opened his mouth.

‘Was… was I trying to do this? Was this my purpose?’

Shang Guang touched his face, but he also couldn’t say that Xi-ge wasn’t a good person.

It was true, Xi-ge was a good guy.

But Shang Guang still felt uneasy.

If Xi-ge knew that Bai Qi friendzoned him, would Xi-ge be happy or unhappy?

Despite that, no one cared about Shang Guang’s motherly heart.

Just as he finished speaking, Bai Qi’s phone rang.

The call was from Xi Chengyun.

“Are you on campus?” Xi Chengyun asked.

“Yup.”

“I’ll pick you up.”

“Great.”

Xi Chengyun soon arrived and went straight up to fetch him.

Shang Guang had nowhere to hide, and he was stupefied. His entire head was covered in sweat.

But Xi Chengyun didn’t even spare him a glance, he simply reached out and said, “Let’s go.”

“Let’s go buy you some clothes. We’re going somewhere after the recording tomorrow.”

“Hm?”

Bai Qi looked at Xi Chengyun’s attire.

He was dressed in a black suit, as if he’d just attended an upper-class event. Even more so, the most eye-catching part of his attire was the flower he’d placed in front of his chest. It looked like a rose, but it wasn’t a rose.

Bai Qi was shocked as he asked, “Is this the Chinese rose I gave you?”

“Mn.” Xi Chengyun replied. “The stylist said that we need little adornments, so I chose this.”

“It hasn’t withered yet?”

“No,” Xi Chengyun replied.

Not only had it not died, but all of them were also moved to the botanical house of Xi family’s old house, and the crystal tank was placed in his studio.

Bai Qi smiled and obediently followed Xi Chengyun downstairs.

Shang Guang took a deep breath and quickly followed suit.

When he reached the ground floor, he realized that Bai Qi had stopped at a snack cart near Jing University.

He was even chit-chatting with the seller. “Are you closing soon?”

“Yup,” the grandmother opposite him said.

Thankfully, finals were over and most students had already gone back home. There weren’t many people loitering outside. Otherwise, it was likely that they’d be surrounded and they won’t have to even think about leaving.

Shang Guang quickly followed them.

Bai Qi fumbled around in his pocket and took out a phone. He scanned the QR code and said, “All paid. A sweet pea pudding and a sweet green rice ball please.”

The grandmother agreed and swiftly packed the food for him.

Bai Qi accepted the food and passed it to Xi Chengyun. “For you.”

Xi Chengyun thought that Bai Qi wanted him to help him carry it. He carried it with a hook of his fingers.

“Try it, these are my favorites. I’ll always buy some to reward myself after every hour of studying.”

‘So… this is a reward for me?’

Xi Chengyun paused. The little plastic bag in his hands seemed heavier than before.

Shang Guang followed behind them, and he was truly bewildered.

Why was he here?

Was this the purpose of today?

Huh?!

Xi Chengyun opened the plastic bag, bit into the sweet green rice ball, and slowly chewed.

Meanwhile, his eyes were fixed on Bai Qi.

Bai Qi looked colorful today too.
