I was searching through the banned books, since I don’t have class today I figured no one would know where I was. No one ever comes in here, not even the principal so I figured I was probably the only one.

I continued checking the books from where I’d left off, I’d come here everyday for a week before we’d left for the dungeon. However I still haven’t found anything useful, even if I can read the characters.

“Lethal dose, pharmacy”

Well I understood why that was banned but it’s not what I’m looking for.

“Heavenly attribute magic.”

I don’t know what that is but I bet I can’t use it.

“Magicians catalyst and sacrifice.”

…..’The magic that can save Toa should be somewhere in the academy

Am I missing something? My future self told me it was magic that could save Toa. Maybe it has something to do with Adams? Maybe his disciples hid some magic at the school?

I was going based of the stereotype that magic is learned through books, so I assumed that just searching for one would be the way to go. But it’s possible that it’s not a book that I’m looking for, what if I’d misunderstood?

I moved on to the next shelf, I have time and regardless if I think it’s a book or not I’m prepared to check every one of the books in here. That was when my eyes finally landed in a book.

“Life and death, ridicule and exception.”

This one!

I opened the book and started reading what was inside.

What, life transfer?

“So it was you after all.”

I quickly closed the book and hid it behind me before turning to look at who spoke.

“I’ve been feeling something unpleasant for the last month.”

It was principal Sabrina, she sat on the only window in the room.

“Haha…ahahahaha.”

“Its no use playing dumb. You know what it means to be in here right?”

I put the book I had behind my back into storage.

“Theres a good reason for this.”

“I’m sure there is, otherwise you wouldn’t be in the restricted section would you?”

How do I get out of this? It looks like I’m going to be kicked out.

“Answer my question, what were you doing in here?”

Will she figure it out even if I try and hide it? I’m not very good and playing questions and answers after all.

“I’d had that feeling for a while, and then strongly it was gone when you went to the dungeon. But lo and behold it came back the same day you did.”

But she shouldn’t be able to feel my magic power so what’s this discomfort that she felt?

“Now answer me. What were you looking for?”

It can’t be helped.

“Magic that could bring someone back to life.”

The principal looked down when I sad that as if in sympathy.

“Is there someone you want to being back to life?”

I’m not actually sure what’s going to kill Toa.

“Someone important to me is going to die in the future. ”

The prophecy had said so, just not in those words. The principal looked away for a moment before speaking.

“So, you met the prophet in Artemias then.”

I was surprised, I didn’t think she’d understand that much from just a few words.

“Yes, she showed me a future where I had fallen into despair.”

Then the principal said something even more surprising.

” ‘He’ talked to you?”

How much does this person know?

“Yes, it was one sided though.”

“I see…. I think I understand.”

Why does she know so much?

“Did you know that reviving the dead is forbidden?”

“Yes, my classmates wouldn’t even talk about it.”

“Good, do you know what would happen if that Magic were to be used indiscriminately?”

If it get in the wrong hand evil would never die.

“I know I know, Iー”

“Does it not matter to you? Everything here is something that can be abused by people if it gets into the wrong hands.”

Spirit magic is one of them.

“Can you even imagine what would happen if things in this world no longer died?”

“Of course….well…. No actually I dont.”

“I don’t know either, but I know this.”

The principal took out the black colored book that I’d seen the other day.

“Evil would run rampant.”

“Evil..?”

“A world without death is a world that has stopped living. What else would you call that besides evil?”

She bit her lip for a moment, hesitating before staring into my eyes.

“The abyss is taboo.”

Abyss? I thought we were talking about resurrection magic?

“It was Adams who first called the abyss stained mage a fool.”

“Abyss stained? What?”

“You don’t know?”

The principal gave me a suspicious look.

“No, I know about the three warnings though.”

I decided to stop hiding it, if this person knows something then maybe she can answer a few of my questions.

“I’m not sure what they mean, besides being swallowed.”

“I see. The principal opened the book.”

“A person stained by the abyss will lose their lifespan. How do you interpret this?”

“That…… uh-m…”

I could only think of one thing.

“Doesn’t that mean they die?”

The principal laughed little.

“Its the opposite.”

“Huh?”

“I said it’s the opposite.”
