Two people faced each other as the crowd made noise, the announcement went off explaining the rules.
The matches at Halekuwait had begun. The stands were packed and Masamune was there as well.
“Hey where were you yesterday? I was looking for you because I had something I wanted to do.”
Toa asked.
“Hmm? Oh I had something to take care of yesterday.”
Toa didn’t ask about it anymore, there was nothing meant there, it was just a normal conversation.
“Hey…..are you ok?”
“Hmm yeah. Even if he looks like that this guy is pretty strong.”
One of the people in the field was Nem, that’s right Nems match was about to begin. Facing her was an upper classmen by the name of Kevin. Nem was quite a bit younger.
The gong sounded and the two of them moved towards each other as Masamune and Toa watched anxiously.
“[Dark Ball]”
Kevin was the first to start.
“That thing won’t hit Nem!”
Nem waited until the last minute then jumped to the side and Kevin aimed at where she was going to land then shot more magic.
“《Thunder bolt》”
A bolt of electricity shot towards Nem. But dodged or not the current still effected Nem, she couldn’t stop.
“《Thunder rain》”
A magic circle appeared in the sky and Thunder rained down on Nem but she dodged and avoided each one. Then..
“Guh!”
A numbness and pain hit Nem even though she should have avoided the bolts. Kevin had laid this down earlier as well.
“Myaaaaaaaa!”
Then electricity fell and hit Nem directly. Kevin was very good at battle tactics, he couldn’t use advanced magic but made full use of his beginner magic. He was able to lure others into traps.
But Nem was OK, other than the numbness running through her body.
“As expected of a beastman, but this fight is over. You can move like you did before because of the numbness right?”
Nem didn’t say anything as she endured the pain but it was clear on her face.
“《Will o’ wisp》”
Nem was very good at this magic, she was able to deploy fireballs around her and keep them at the ready. They can also be used as defense.
“Ha, that small flame fits you little girl! What are you going to do?”
“《Demons breeze》”
When Nem cast her next magic the fires around her grew.
“Huh?”
Kevin didn’t seem to be aware if what was happening. He’s guard was down as he watched and sweat ran down his face.
If it wasn’t advance magic it was close.
“《Thunder spear》”
Kevin summoned Thunder spears into both hands.
Nem began her attack.
Nem shot her fireball and Kevin countered with his spear, the magic collided in between them and exploded. Nem sent another to the side and Kevin countered again. Kevin summoned another spear but Nem was faster and he was struck by the fireball. He’d tried to dodge it but he was overweight and couldn’t get out of the way in time.
“Gyaaaaaaa!”
Protection magic was layered over the field to prevent serious injury and it put the fire out. Kevin was still able to fight but instead of being vigilant his face looked scared.
Nem follows up having already summoned the fireballs back and she fired them all at the same time.
Kevin barely had time to think, he summoned his spears back and crossed then in front of his body to defend. The fireballs crashed against the spears but they weren’t meant to be used in defense and they couldn’t with stand the attack. His spears broke and all three fireballs crashed into him.
“Gyaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
Cheers and groans could be heard from the audience. Kevin barely held onto his consciousness.
“Nem wants you to surrender!”
The match should have already been decided but Kevin was grinning for some reason.
Kevin was trying to figure out a way to win but couldn’t think of a way to reverse the situation. However he had a plan in case this happened.
Kevin stuck his hand in his pocket with an evil grin as Nem watched him confused. And what he pulled out was…
Silver vine.
It’s a great threat to younger cat people, just the smell can make them dizzy. Of course as they get older the effects decrease and even disappear but Nem was still just a kid.
This wasn’t considered a foul but it was still a cowardly move. Kevin knew he would be called a coward for doing it but he was willing to accept that, putting victory ahead of everything.
He looked down at the silver vine then back at Nem who was alert.
“This is my win.”
Kevin was convinced of his win and went to throw the silvervine at Nem but his movement was stopped. He looked at it not understanding.
“Huh?……..”
The silver vine that should have been in his hand had disappeared without a trace. Even more mysterious was that the smell of it was gone from his hands as well. He sniffed them to be sure and looked down to see if he’d dropped it. The audience laughed as he crawled around looking for it but it was gone.
“What are you doing?”
Nem asked a simple question but Kevin couldn’t answer, at this point he wasn’t sure himself.
“If you don’t surrender I will force you.”
“W- wait! I’ll surrender!”
Kevin said quickly.
‘The winner is Nem!”
Cheers rose up at the announcement. Kevin left the venue still doubting his defeat.
Nem looks up at the three watching her from the stands and gives a peace sign. Toa and Sufilia hold up their own peace signs but Masamune just smiled. Toa whispered angrily telling him to give her a peace sign back but he just said “it was the obvious outcome.” And she relaxed as he smiled.
But in reality, no one knew this but on Masamune’s left hand were traces of his red-black magic power.
