“The abyss.”
Oswald said quietly. Saeki was silently listening to him tell his story.
“I learned about the abyss when I became principal. And that was when I knew that it was the true form of Kyle’s magic.”
“The true form?”
“The abyss is something that is closed off from the rest of society. When the principals of either Halekuwait or Fishnatica take office they are told to monitor the fool of the abyss. That is the truth behind these schools.”
“Wait a minute, what is the fool of the abyss?”
Oswald answered no longer hiding anything.
“Nito..”
“Huh?”
“Nito is a fool of the abyss. His extraordinary power, and his talking wand, these are parts of the abyss. The characteristics of the abyss vary but according to what was left behind by principals before us, the abyss reflects the will of the host. Moreover, it cannot be perceived by normal people. I think this is why we can’t detect Nito’s magic power.”
However when Saeki heard all this he was still confused. A person cannot understand the abyss with just this simple explanation.
“Are you saying the compared to intermediate magic or advanced magic what Nito uses is something higher?”
“I’m talking about something different but sure like I said before Nito’s magic would be of the talking wand class. Now I want you to think. Why was the talking wand class even created?”
“What do you mean?”
“A wand should not be able to open its mouth let alone talk. In other words the magic at that level is crazy, do you get it? The fact that Nito has a talking want is strange in and of itself.”
“………”
“This was the first time that I’d seen a talking wand as well. We were told to monitor the abyss but we haven’t actually been told very much about it. Although there is a fairytale in our world that goes. ‘The fool that is swallowed by the abyss loses love and brings chaos to the world.’ And now I find out that talking wands are real.”
“What are you saying? Isn’t it just a wand?”
“Just a wand huh…..”
Oswald didn’t know how else to explain it. It’s difficult to teach something that you don’t know everything about. And even Oswald himself only recently learned about the existence of the talking wand.
“Saeki, go with King Arthur. And study, there are many different stories about the abyss in our world although they might not all actually say abyss. And even I don’t know who would have written such books but in them you will find a common meaning.”
“Meaning?”
“Yes, although the shapes might be different when you read them the same thoughts will begin to emerge.”
“And that is?”
“The abyss is betrayed.”
“Betrayed?”
“I don’t know what this means but those who left these stories behind probably knew more about the abyss than we did. Mothers read these aloud to their children and tell them to take good care of their friends and others.”
Oswald was only confusing Saeki more.
“I thought, Can’t you kill Nito? If it’s you then….”
“Impossible.”
Oswald answered immediately.
“Impossible?”
“Did you not see? How I was barely able to keep the mages alive in that battle. Even if this body of mine wasn’t so old, someone like Braums was no match for the demon queen who in the end was like an ant in front of Nito. He is out of our league.”
Even for someone like Braums, when it came to fighting demons a stalemate was the limit of what he could achieve.
“I see.”
This means that they could not kill him and Saeki lost hope again. Even his expectations for himself began to collapse.
“I haven’t given up yet.”
“Huh……”
“The academy of the end Victoria. I’m sending my granddaughter there. It is somewhere that even the principals of these two schools cannot enter but I am hoping for a good response. I haven’t given up hope yet.”
Saeki knows nothing about that school. But he did hear Oswald say that he hadn’t given up.
“I haven’t told the kings about this yet. I have only told Sabrina and Zels. Therefore I want you to keep this to yourself as well.”
Then why did you tell me this? Saeki was full of doubt.
“Saeki get stronger. I just hope that when ‘that time’ comes nothing happens.”
Oswald had lived for a long time and could see looking ahead that Nito was at the center of whatever was going to happen. He was sure of it.”
“Saeki.”
“Yes.”
“In the story that I know, the summoned hero destroys the demon lord. I hope that one day you will become this worlds hope.”
Saeki was greatly confused at the gentle smile that was on Oswalds face when he looked at him. Oswald then took out a robe from the cupboard, it was a national treasure class item. Oswald had said that these robs would be given to the three representatives of Fishnatica but in the end he had forgotten.
“There are some things in this world that should be left alone.”
Oswald picked up the robe as he was thinking about how his sons magic and Nito’s magic were the same abyss just to varying degrees. When Oswald had killed his son his sense of justice had collapsed and the darkness that existed in the world became more apparent.
There had always been light and darkness in the world but when he took office as the principal and met the 7 kings Oswalds world was immersed in darkness.
“It’s a little late now but I’m happy that you were a representative.”
When Oswald handed over the robe to Saeki his expression was sad. Saeki stared into his face but all he could see was a principal who cared for his students.
“In good health.”
“…..yeah.”
Oswald finally smiled.

" "After Saeki left it was quiet for a while until the door opened again.
“Grandpa..”
[T/N: If you read the last chapter as soon as it came out and saw grandson, I made a mistake it seems. Zels is a girl as you will see.孫 is the kanji used which is just grandchild so, I don’t feel all that bad.]
A person appeared wearing a robe with a deep hood that hid there face. As soon as they had entered the room the took off the hood and a woman with short red hair that hung down in her face was standing there.
“Zels, you’re back. How did it go?”
“I have a message.”
“Finally.”
In Zels’ hand was a folded piece of paper and a small box. Oswald took them and placed them on the table before opening the letter and reading it.
“This..”
Oswald choked on his words.
“I wasn’t allowed inside. They handed me this at the front gate and I was told to come back.”
“Victoria is closed. You’re not allowed to enter, because once you enter you will not be allowed to leave.”
That is why even though the location of the school is known no one knows what the inside looks like.Oswald then opened the box and emptied its contents into his hand.
“Is that….a wand?”
Sabrina asked.
“It seems like it.”
Oswald put it away.
“Zels, get ready, we’ll be leaving soon.”
“Okay.”
Oswald lit the fireplace with magic and threw the letter and the box inside burning them.
“Oswald, what was in there?”
Sabrina was asking about the contents of the letter.
“Sabrina, take care of the school. I was able to do it.”
“Do what?”
Sabrina was still confused but Oswald would not tell her what was in the letter.
“If I suddenly leave the school the kings will find out. You will be the person they suspect but if you don’t know anything it doesn’t matter what they ask.”
Because of this Oswald would not tell her what was in the letter but she could see that he was determined. Schneiser had asked that Nito be left to him to deal with. He said that they should instigate anything unnecessarily but Oswald wasn’t convinced. To him someone that was swallowed by the abyss was right in front of him and his case wasn’t as easy to deal with as the others.
“Where are you going?”
Oswald had put on a hooded robe.
“The world. I have to go. Zels are you ready?”
“Yes Grandpa.”
A magic circle appeared at Oswald’s feet.
“Oswald….”
Sabrina was still confused.
“I might be digging my own grave but I am going to go and reclaim the justice that I lost the day that I killed my son.”
Oswald smiled weakly.
“Sabrina I leave everything to you, take care of the students.”
Oswald and Zels disappeared at the same time that the fire burned out leaving Sabrina alone in a dark room.
