Chapter 18: Oliver’s Letter
I made it in time, honestly it wasn’t even close. [God Speed] is amazing, I really have to thank Shawn.
Should I explain things to Sierra and the others? It looks kind of bad with Oliver dying right in front of them and all.
Regardless I choose my loot without hesitation, it’s not something I’m shy about doing anymore.
“ defeated. [Goddesses Blessing] activated, please select loot.”

I see, it seems that Oliver was a fire user. More importantly though, why do some of the skills have magic names? Can magic be used as a skill?
I was interested in the Flame halberd but I naturally drifted to the letter. I looked through it, and it was exactly as I thought. “Yes I see.” I couldn’t read it.. Of course I couldn’t read it, I have no idea what the characters in this world even are. The letter glowed slightly as I held it and suddenly something strange happened. Without reading suddenly the words meaning entered my mind.
The letter said he didn’t want to be a knight and mentions some girl named Anna. It seems she was his wife who he left back in his hometown,he was worried about her. For her sake he worked hard, training and gaining a leadership position. However, it seems that wasn’t what he wanted.
The battle of Uranos prairie. As the leader of the Ash Corps Oliver fought fiercely, returning home to discover Anna had been robbed and murdered. When he went to see her body, he wrote that her father stopped him. He was told “It’s better if you don’t look.” With her death he lost all will to live and his men mocked him for it.
The latter part talked about Oliver’s anger. It talked about him wanting to kill the king, although he never accomplished this.
I found out about the contents of this letter the same night we had returned to Tanya Village, after everyone was asleep. It was fragmented and impulsive, some of it even scribbled onto the page.
Understanding it all was quite difficult. It felt like too much was left unsaid, why did Oliver have a grudge against the king?
Putting the letter into my storage soage triggered an announcement inside my head.
“Learned the magic [Hell Fire].”
I checked my status immediately.

Fire born from Oliver’s Fury.
Gradually burns the target over time.

I regret not going with the halberd, why did I have to learn this mass of fury?
I mean I can’t use attribute magic so I chose an item. In the end what I got was information about Oliver and fire magic, not that I thought I would learn magic by reading a letter. I suppose I should be happy I learned something I didn’t know before.
I would say it’s better than nothing but I can’t use it. I thought maybe I could use it since I was able to learn it; I tried casting it once just to see, but nothing happened.
So, I used [Mischief Inversion {Extreme}] on it.
I tried it out a lot in the dungeon, even gaining [Erosion Wave], but I sort of forgot I could use it on other things as well.
So without further ado, I inverted [Hell Fire].
