__________ POV Beru__________

It's been a day since Nemuri and I went official. I gotta say, not much has changed.

Well, we've just started our relationship, and both of us are pretty open people, so under normal circumstances, we'd already be fucking around.

But we're both extremely busy people. I can teleport around, but I can't really do much to make time in my schedule. Most of my time lately is spent with Yori and the Nomus.

We're really close to actually being able to rewind them into a healthy state. All because of this quirk. It's rather surreal honestly. We hadn't even started actively searching for it yet, and it just kinda showed up in a random raid.

I guess we just got lucky, I don't know how many chances like this we would've gotten otherwise. The thing is, now I am also able to look human for a limited time daily.

The strangest thing I've had to do lately is actually having to go to a shop and look for clothes. I just got one set of clothes since I don't see myself looking human for long. I mean, I already got too accustomed to being myself.

Also, since my sense of fashion is deader than All for One, I just bought a regular light blue tracksuit.

Right now, I just finished sparring with Toga. I decided to do it in my human form to make things fair for her. Well, she still lost, but she did pretty well.

She managed to get a few grazes in, I also fought a bit more carefully since I didn't feel like getting injured much.

That capture weapon that she learned to use from Aizawa is really tricky to fight against, but she obviously lacks experience with it, I managed to get her in a chokehold while she was struggling to stall me with it.

It wasn't a particularly hard fight for me. But then again, I'm currently at the level I was at in past life while in human form. It's a bit unfair to fight a high schooler when keeping that in mind.

Still, Toga seemed to have fun. She had so much fun that she passed out! Yep, it was certainly because of that, doesn't matter how much Recovery Lady talks about 'Suffocation' and 'Reckless Behaviour'.

I think she's gotten used to passing out after fighting me at this point...

Now, I guess there's no need to keep preventing the inevitable. I need to go and meet up with Oyama. This meeting will be a bit awkward for me. I don't know if she realised that I'm at fault for this whole mess that the Commission is facing, but I don't really think it matters at this point.

I'll meet her, and I'll bring her up to speed either way. There's nothing the Commission can do against me at this point.

__________ POV Narration__________

Oyama had needed some time to think about the problems that she was facing. She was being bombarded on all sides. Scrutiny from every direction, from higherups to members of the public.

She was under constant stress, made even worse by the slowly approaching court date that she needed to show up for personally.

She could just hope that the lawyers she hired were able to properly represent her when the time came. Bribing the judge was simply impossible. The Chief of Police was personally overseeing the court to make sure there was no bribery to be spoken of.

Numerous times, Oyama had thought to just send an agent to kill Kenji, the dog-faced chief. But she was stopped by the more rational part of her brain.

Killing him would be like admitting their wrongs. The Commission would actually get in more trouble if they got rid of Kenji.

So she was forced to deal with the issue. She knew that the Chief couldn't have obtained this information by himself, she was having him monitored constantly while he was outside his office.

She cursed as she wondered who exactly could tip off the chief about the information that Lady Nagant possessed...

Then she realised, who exactly would be able to easily do all of that? Who exactly had been avoiding her like the plague for quite a while now?

It was a slow realisation, but everything that had built up made her realise who the culprit was. Beru. The person she feared the most. The unstable aspect that entered their association and only managed to cause trouble for her.

Granted, some of that trouble was caused by the poor planning on the side of the Commission, but he also played a part in making things worse sometimes.

There was just one thing on her mind... 'Why would he do any of this?' Sure, her relationship with Beru wasn't exactly at the 'best-of-buddies' level but she was quite sure that Beru didn't hate her...

Then she also remembered her last conversation with him. The last time she had met him in person and spoke to him about her plans for Lady Nagant...

She remembered that feeling she randomly gained. Now she realised that ever since that moment, Beru had been planning to break things off with her and the Commission.

Maybe it was because he was sensitive when it came to kidnapping the family of targets? But he seemed quite nonchalant when speaking about killing random people, so Oyama really doubted that he would be so against it...

Problem was, she had no way of knowing for sure.

Just as she was about to get up and get some fresh air, something rather unexpected happened right in front of her. A black misty portal opened up.

The president of the Commission jerked backwards as she looked at the portal with a bit of panic. It took her a second to gain her bearings, just enough for Beru to step out of the portal and look around the office.

"Wow~ Nothing even changed here~ You need a decorator~" His greeting was non-existent. He spoke the same as he always did. Laid-back, lacking any stress. But Oyama wasn't willing to let her guard down this time...

"You... I guess you came to gloat about it huh?" She asked with venom etched in her usually cold-as-ice tone. It made Beru tilt his head. In his mind, a devious smirk was present.

"What might you be talking about dear?~ I don't have that good looking a room anyway~ If anything, I also need a decorator~" The brooding insectoid looked at Oyama with little enthusiasm.

Oyama seemed to be poping a blood vessel out of anger when hearing his words.

"Stop... Stop joking around! You were the one that screwed everything over! Why?! Why would you do any of that?!" She asked as her tone gained a few decibels.

"Why?~ Well, my dear~ I don't see any reason to keep up the facade~" He simply warped her into a chair and then proceeded to slowly walk over to the president's desk and sit down.

Oyama was rather startled, but she just gritted her teeth and looked at him with anger.

"Simply put~ You disgust me~ I can't possibly tell you how much disgust I feel even being in the same room as you for one second~" Oyama opened her eyes wide when hearing the reason.

'W-what? It was personal for him?' She didn't think Beru had this bad an opinion of her specifically. She just thought he was done with the association.

"The problem is~ You remind me far too much of a friend~ Someone much like you~ A natural-born leader~ Stone cold, decisive, quick-witted, charming~ All qualities that are observable~" Oyama was somewhat confused as to what Beru was trying to get to.

"You see~ The problem here is that...~ My friend is someone that I wanted to kill desperately~ I wasn't able to because we were friends for so long~ There was that feeling of closeness~ With you though~ I've no reason to keep you around~"

Oyama instantly shot up. She jumped towards her desk, she also had a panic button somewhere on it, she wanted to quickly get to it.

Beru just shook his head and warped her back. Oyama was about to scream, but Beru just appeared in front of her and put his hand on her mouth.

"Don't bother~ I don't actually care enough about you to murder you~ That would actually bring more trouble to me~ I'd rather not complicate things like that~" Beru said while staring the panicked Oyama in the eyes.

The president of the Commission was beyond scared, she was beyond vulnerable, and Beru was also someone that she couldn't do anything against...

"You see~ I find ruining your life completely to be a much easier solution~ After all, the higher-ups still need someone to take the fall for this whole mess~ You can guess who that is~" Beru said while tilting his head in an upbeat and energetic way.

"Don't think everything will go as you planned! I don't know how you made all of this happen, but I'll reveal the fact that you were involved with this! I won't let you off so easily!" Oyama shouted, she was a strong-willed woman, even when terrified out of her mind, she still had enough energy to form a retort.

"Don't bother~ Even if they knew, nothing would change~ What can they do? Bleed on me?~ They have bigger fish to fry~ I assure you of that one~" Beru didn't mention that the 'Bigger fish' was also himself.

Yep, he was using the fake organization as a way to deflect all attention from him. The organisation was to be blamed for most things, including the fall of the Commission.

Why? Beru knew that the Chief of Police would eventually disclose the source of the information to the higher-ups, and so, he knew that the organization was bound to get a lot of attention... And he wasn't associated with the organisation at all!

Actually, he had even fought their only known member! So he didn't worry about being associated with them. The only person that could make that distinction was Oyama, but no one would listen to her behind bars. And she wasn't going to be getting out of there again.

Oyama just stared emptily as she tried to process the information she had received. Trying her hardest to think of a way out for herself...

"I'll be off then~ It was a nice partner-ship~ Too bad it didn't work out~" Beru tilted his head one last time as he prepared to warp off.

Oyama lifted her head and started shouting "YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE SH-" But Beru disappeared before she could even finish speaking.

And so, the cards were all on the table. Beru revealed his hand, showing her a royal flush. The only thing she had was a measly pair of two's. And so, their game was over.

With Oyama being caught off-guard and completely overwhelmed before she even had a chance to respond...
