“We’ll go over tomorrow no matter what. If we can, we will go with them!” The man who was sprawled on the windowsill said firmly as he gritted his teeth.

The other people didn’t say anything. They were the ones still alive on this floor. They gathered together here because they had nothing to eat.

They were led by this man called Huang Ming!

“We can’t stay here for long. If we can’t cross this city, we won’t make it to the safe zone either.” The man spoke calmly. “We’ll leave early tomorrow and get into two cars. The cars down there should still be operational!”

It was like he had already decided!

The first rays of sunlight shone on the high-rise where Bai Ling and the others were. Bai Ling’s eyes suddenly opened. She glanced over and saw Wen Ruyu facing the sun with a gentle smile. He was very dazzling underneath the sunlight.

“You’re up!” Wen Ruyu gently said.

“Where’s Bai Xiaoxi?” She was too tired. She didn’t have the body with powers like in her previous life. She was so tired that she didn’t know what had happened around her, especially now that Bai Xiaoxi was suddenly gone. Bai Ling pulled out her sword instinctively. She pointed it directly at the gently smiling face. Her eyes flashed sharply.

Although he didn’t seem to have any abilities, he could gather so many experts in the future for his use. Not only was his mind not simple, but his speaking skills were better than anyone else’s.

Bai Xiaoxi was smart, but his life experience couldn’t compare to an adult’s!

Wen Ruyu looked at her cold and hostile eyes. He frowned. It was this feeling again. He didn’t like her treating him like this. He looked at the sword emitting cold light near him. His voice was still soft. “I don’t have any bad intentions. I saw that you were too tired, so……”

“Whether I’m tired or not is my business. What did you do to him?” The sword moved closer to him. It was about to cut his neck. Bai Ling’s voice turned a lot colder.

This tone made Wen Ruyu’s head lift. But he still wasn’t afraid. He looked into Bai Ling’s clear and cold eyes. There was a touch of smile in his eyes, but there was a trace of concealed temper in that smile.

Being held at swordpoint by someone who could take his life at anytime, even if he was any smarter, he could not be happy about it, especially when his intelligent brain didn’t have any intentions to target her and even if he understood why she did this. He eventually endured and didn’t get into an argument with her. “He should be back soon!”

Bai Ling froze. She wanted to speak, but she heard the sounds of wheels moving downstairs. Bai Xiaoxi called out in a low voice, “Wen dage,* I’m back. I’ll put it here!”

[Dage = literally: “older brother,” can be used to denote familiarity or closeness]

Bai Ling turned and saw Bai Xiaoxi hurrying over. He was holding a plastic bag in his hands.

Bai Xiaoxi’s eyes shone when he saw Bai Ling. “Sis, you’re up. Just in time. I brought everything back. Let’s have breakfast first!”

Wen dage was correct. They were close to the supermarket where they were. Even if he didn’t go, Bai Ling would need to make a trip to the supermarket herself. The zombies didn’t have the slightest interest in anything other than humans. So, the zombies wouldn’t loot the food. And even if other people saw, they wouldn’t dare to steal it.
