"tak...tak.....tak!"

Satvik's eyes popped open due to continuous noise coming from the window of his room. It was still early in the morning and sun was just starting to rise from the horizon.

He got up from his bed and walked towards the window. From the other side a young looking kid similar to his age was throwing pebbles at his window.

The kid was very familiar to him. He was Danny, Satvik's first and only friend in this world and they have been friends for almost a month now. Their friendship began with a cliché trope few months back.

Satvik's parents use to leave home early to work in their fields. He use to get bored at home alone.

Satvik had protested that he wanted to help them with their burden and atleast he should be allowed to take cattles to the pastures on the Westside of the wall, which was under protection of patrolling troops and many farmers use to take their cattles for grazing there.

Aisha was furious at this suggestion but Dhruv said that he can do that much as Satvik would turn six years old in couple of months.

The part of town they use to live in was a friendly neighborhood and people covered each other's back. Satvik was quite famous in the neighborhood due to Aisha's absolute fawning and bragging about him.

The neighbors always looked after each other's child, so, Dhruv asked his neighbor to look after his kid while he took the cattles to the pastures.

The neighbour agreed as there would be not too much of a burden to look after one more lamb.

One day Satvik was sitting on a stone in the grasslands when a group of delinquents came towards him.

Danny was the leader of this group and everyone was aged around 7-8 years at that time.

To show his dominance to his lackeys, Danny came to Satvik and said, "it seems you are new here kid, aren't you?'

After giving him a single glance and rolling his eyes over in this cliché scenario. If only this group knew how many times he has had this entire scenario played out in his last life. With a sigh he said, "Go back to your mama before I make you piss your pants."

"Pffft!!" Danny's lackeys tried their best to not laugh but some muffled laughter didn't go unnoticed by him.

Fueled with rage he charged towards Satvik to teach him a lesson.

Satvik has already predicted this scenario so he was already prepared for this and used a locking technique he learnt from watching 'Uu.Uu.E' which was his favourite reality-show at one point of time.

"So tell me, do you want me to break it?" after locking his arm he asked in haughty and disdainful voice.

Danny after being astonished started sweating while shaking his head. Even his flunkies were surprised. How could a child younger to them hold down their leader like this? This was certainly unheard of in their circle. 'Who is this kid', many of them thought.

After shaking his head with pity, Satvik let go of his locked arm and said, "Go away. Don't test my patience, KID!" Danny just stared at him while his flunkies ran away and after a while he left Satvik alone.

Satvik hadn't intended to hurt the 'kid' but wanted to establish the rule to leave him alone from the starting. But the tackle had the opposite effect on Danny.

When he was on his way back, Satvik knew that he was being followed. The following, or stalking was not subtle at all and Satvik easily became aware of the fact.

When he reached home he gestured the heard to go back to stables and his caretaker left, Satvik turned towards his stalker and said, "Your stalking skills are very bad. So are you here for revenge or something?"

Satvik knew this would happen. Danny seemed to be too prideful to let his image get tarnished by someone younger than him.

Danny walked towards him and after shaking his head furiously and pointed his finger towards Satvik while declaring with an evil laugh, "I will be your friend because you are so weak, you will be needing my protection. Be grateful about it!"

'Ewwww!' Satvik cringed hard, his first tsundere has appeared in another world but it was a guy instead of a young female teen.

Satvik walked away without saying anything and entered his house and shut his door and made sure to lock it from the inside leaving Danny alone outside.

After that day, Danny followed Satvik like a baby duckling. Satvik tried to reject the tsundere's proposal but finally gave in and they became friends.

After becoming friends with him, Satvik learnt that his new friend was not a very bad person after all at least from inside.

He might try to appear as rough and tough in front of everyone else around him but he was a gentle soul at heart after all. He was not confident in how to befriend others and because of this he thought that bullying them to become his acquaintances was much easier.

Both the kids after a while started spending more time discussing legends, which astonished Satvik at first. He never thought a bully would be such an intellectual person. Danny had so much knowledge about these legends and the characters they were about.

Satvik came to know about it later that, Danny's parents owned a book shop in the town which gave Danny access to lot of books. Danny almost knew about each and every legend and stories out there, more than Satvik's mother and father combined.

With the passage of time, Satvik somehow adapted to his tsundere's nature. He even started to like spending time with Danny.

They both had investigated about the myths and legends of their town and most of them turned out to be a hoax with no credential evidence of its truthfulness. From ghost to mystical creatures, their town was filed with mysteries and telltales. All this investigation kept them busy for most part of their day.

Day before yesterday, Danny had told Satvik that he had found another such story and he wants to dig deep in this information.

So he had planned to take Satvik with him. Hence, today he was here for their adventure. But Danny had never said that the adventure would start the crack of dawn!

Satvik opened his window lazily and said, "Come on in, it's too early for your antiques, don't you think?"

"Not at all. It's hardly minutes left for sunrise and after that we will miss the opportunity" said Danny with smirk.

"I have a feeling that you have been exaggerating about that. From where did you get the information regarding this new tale of yours?" said Satvik while rolling his eyes.

"Well I have my own abilities and information network" said Danny in boastful manner while winking at Satvik.

Satvik rolled his eyes before sighing and shaking his head in disappointment. It was indeed too early to be rolling your eyes and start the montage of disappointment.

"Come down at this moment or you'll miss the opportunity and then don't come later to me while regretting it" said Danny with and exasperated expression.

Danny seemed very eager about this adventure that he liked to call it so and seemed wellprepared for their death march to discover the unknown and bust the myths. He was caring a medium sized backpack, in which he had some ration for their small trip.

Satvik came out with just a water pouch. He already had presumed that this information might also be some kind of hoax that was blabbed out by some drunkard and someone just wrote it because it seemed interesting and worth selling. This has been somewhat true for all the legends they have come across till now.

People seemed to forget that after getting a few buckets of alcohol in them, people would rattle off the weirdest and most untrue of tales.

They both walked out of the protection of walls of the town and started towards their new adventure. At least one of them was eager in discovering what was waiting for them. And the other one was about to shocked for sure.
