Azrie Part 1/2

I stared at the Zinele it was level 39, a massive bird that walked on two elongated legs. Its body was covered in thick rock, and it simply stared at me, its heavy eyelids slowly blinking as rubble fell. It felt weird to be fighting a level 39 monster, but… I looked at my mana and felt confidence, if there was no limit with Explosive Shot—if there was no limit with my mana usage and arrow usage then—

The bird chirped with a shrill sound, its talons dug onto the ground denting it in an instant and with explosive strength it jumped after me. The indented stone began to shine in a pale sand color for a second before it faded into the ground, the bird flew—lunged towards me, and at that moment, the ground beneath caved. I snorted, feeling the danger in an instant, the arrow within my fingers flew onto the bird’s open beak as I jumped. The cave rumbled with a bird screech, I flew through the cloud of smoke that rose and landed onto a slide, carrying the momentum over to distance myself.

The bird within the smoke shook itself as rubble fell down its body. Small stone had been pelted, removed away, but it looked unphased. I snorted and grabbed two arrows, my mana was supposedly infinite now—it was in theory infinite, and I was going to use the chance to test it. The bird screeched at me once more, raising its talons, but I simply shot both arrows overloaded to the brim with mana. It didn’t get to hop before both glowing projectiles hit it, and in an instant a green explosion bloomed as the bird screeched.

I grabbed three arrows, feeling close to half of my mana replenish in an instant. More smoke came but I had no reason to aim. I simply fired the mana laced arrows. They streaked through the air at breakneck speeds, and before the smoke even cleared they dug into it and exploded. Once more the bird wailed behind the smoke. My mana replenished. It was certainly fun.

I smiled, finding pleasure in the convenience that the trial had brought me. I grabbed three more arrows and quickly aimed them once more. The dust shifted, it shone in a sand-like yellow light and rocks were through my way. I let go of one arrow and hopped, the recoil sending me out of the way. Spikes came from the ground.

Just like the ants. It too could control the rock of the earth, though its mana was a different color. The dust cleared as I saw the bird once more, between the stone crevices it was bleeding a black-like substance, its eyes gazed at me full of hatred and it flicked, with one wing out it sent a screen of sharp stones towards me. I slid out of the way and fired my two shots. The bird responded in kind with another flick of its other wing—the stones and arrows collided and the cave shook. The wind billowed and the bird jumped towards me. I snorted and slid out of the way, the bird narrowly missed me, not able to predict my speed. I grabbed three arrows but this time I remembered.

Right. I had learned a different skill. I followed the familiar sensation between my fingers, taking slightly too long to enhance the arrows and give them the power of burrowing. Whatever that meant. Two arrows were enhanced, one leftover for emergencies. The bird glanced at me and I let go of the two death bolts. They launched—streaked through the air and the bird swiped with his talons to break them apart, noticing they were different. But it was a mistake. The talons hit the arrows, and impaled, the bird screeched as one arrow dug onto its body, the other arrow went onto the ground never to be seen again. The bird squirmed as its leg trembled, it flipped on the ground and began to move—shake, and twist, stone flying everywhere. I frowned as I nocked two more burrowing shots.

It’s a really nasty skill. The arrows were let go hitting its neck. One bounced and the other one dug into it. The bird twisted and squealed, screeching in a panic as it ultimately slowly bled to its death. I continued shooting arrows at it, numerous arrows burrowed into its body as if they were nothing more than worms. The bird’s body slowly decomposed before my very eyes as rocks fell and progressively deflated. With a final screech, it died under a puddle of black blood.

[You have killed: (D) Rock Zinele. Lvl. 39]

I frowned, seeing no level up? I tried to open my status, but—

[Cannot open status at this time. Level ups disabled.]

Before I could grow more confused another notification came.

[Skill Learned — Skill — Mana Combination — Weave mana techniques together to combine them.

“You’ll need this.” — The Illusionist, Star Slayer.]

I couldn’t open or see more skill options. I felt weird intrinsic knowledge flood my brain as I understood nothing of what I was seeing or watching. And as soon as it came, it stopped. Everything returned to normal as I finally stared at the skill I had received. A skill without a grade? What? And… since when do skills have quotes? I frowned. I had received a skill for reaching level 20, I could not distribute stats either.

[The Trial Of Endurance starts now. Survive: 11h 59m.]
