Azrie Part: 2/2

A small sigh exited me. It didn’t feel particularly good to pick it, but it was something that I needed. I felt a small headache just sorting through all the system notifications, but I was almost done. The last thing was the chest. I slowly stood up, my body still had lingering aches, but I was doing fine now. At the same time the cave, or now exposed sinkhole was desolate and devoid of life, aside from the now dead plants everything was kind of gone.

Slowly, I got to where Glim decided to randomly float. There was a pile of rubble there. I grabbed my spear and chaffed away at it, slowly but surely breaking apart the bigger rocks into smaller chunks at a hellish pace. Then came moving the rocks off the thing with my body weight and breaking the ones that were too heavy. It took quite a while but eventually I unburied a surprisingly small chest.

With small confusion I opened it only to find two weird items. One was a small cylinder of frost and the other one was a crystal deposit.

[(D Grade Prophecy) Eternal Frost.

The cold within resonates deeply.]

[(D Grade Prophecy) Glass Chrysalis.

A great beginning for a great colony.]

I stared at them with a small amount of surprise, excitement and at the same time bewilderment. I stretched my hand and tried to grab both at the same time, given that they would fit inside my hand, but as I swiped them—they vanished into nothingness.

[Contract Condition Applied: All Prophecies you acquire from the wild will belong to The Illusionist.]

A sigh exited as mixed emotions flooded within me. I suppose I had agreed to that, and I also supposed that I saw no use in them. I had no idea what he needed them for, but I felt a bit okay with it, even though if I was being truthful with myself, it upset me to get nothing from the chest. I had agreed to it, I had already gotten help and numerous things from The Illusionist and Elasia, it was simply:

In the contract.

I didn’t like it, but I had gotten plenty of things from the fight already. I grabbed my spear from the ground and turned to my two bows. First thing I did was try to store my old bow within the ring only to realize it didn’t even fit. A small sigh left me as I wondered whether to throw it away or bring it around. Though I was still unfamiliar with the new bow, perhaps a bow with an ability was good, but if it felt bad to use then I honestly didn’t see the point — it's not like the bow made me deal more damage.

I placed my old bow down and grabbed the new bow — Verex Replica, or just Verex— I was unsure why that was my unknown reward but perhaps it was just what I needed. I grabbed an old arrow from my ring, and now, feeling properly refreshed, I nocked it and pulled the string without any kind of mana. It was slightly heavier but it felt good to use, and aiming it felt just as familiar even if the sights were slightly different. Then I pushed a sliver of mana into my bow only to feel an intuitive feeling in my mind.

Somewhere in its core. I guided my mana closer to my hand where I held the bow and there, I felt a mana crystal, it was small but full of power. Is that its ability? I tapped the mana crystal with my mana, and at that moment I felt foreign mana push into the arrow. Though it seemed different, I felt like I could still enhance it. The arrow was now shining on an orange color, and with that in mind I aimed at a distant rock. It was as big as a human’s head, good for testing—

The string was let go, slipped past my fingers and the arrow—vanished. With an almost shrill sound the rock exploded into a thousand pieces, a small billowing cloud of dust was all there was left in its spot.

What?

I looked closely only to see the arrow embedded on the ground. And then, I looked at the bow, Verex, its string was slightly trembling and the mana crystal within my mind was now drained of its power.

Then I looked at my bow.

[You have received — Verex Replica (Rare) — A replica of the legendary Verex bow. Manufactured by an unknown but talented smith it has managed to replicate one of the many abilities of Verex. Once a day you can fire an arrow imbued with the power of Immediate Fate. Immediate Fate: Anything affected by it will reach its final original fate, any object affected by outside forces will remain to be affected till its end.

◇ Immediate Fate Cooldown: 23hr 59m 48s]

Huh… So that was Immediate Fate? Instant arrow travel? I didn’t quite get it, but it was… very interesting. I couldn’t stop myself from smiling. It was truly a great thing, I couldn’t wait to try it with other things.

I smiled. I was now done here, though in bewilderment I turned to see the Skirmish timer, something that I hadn’t taken a look at for quite some time.

[Incubation Period: 0 days 14 hours 42 minutes.]

Right… The Skirmish was finally coming to an end. At last. As my eyes wandered up in relaxation, I couldn’t help but notice the sky. Smoke constantly billowed from the south, pitch-black clouds.

The forest was…

Burning?

I gathered my wits and headed to the place I had initially entered from.
