The shock did not last long. I snorted as I realized that I was now going to have to fight it. I twisted my body mid air, rubble clouded my vision, but the fall— it was high. It was going to hurt.

Gritting my teeth and with some quick thinking, I grabbed some seeds from my ring and pushed mana into them. There was a chance I was going to regret it, but at least I knew I was immune to the poison from my own plants. The seeds shifted within my hand and without thinking twice about them, I drew them downwards, calculating where I was going to land.

Commanding them to bloom, the Nefarious Wisterias sprouted beneath me. They all gathered together with their flowers looking towards me, akin to a small bush of death. Not a second later, they broke my fall with their poison laced thorns, some dug past my armor and into my skin, the pain throughout my body was almost instant, but the impact from the fall was almost negligible. The rest of the rubble fell, sunlight streamed down illuminating the chamber. With yet another command, they removed themselves from me the best they could.

“Invader. Where. Come. From?”

I snorted as I looked towards the Moonfang, the mana strings—whips floated silently next to it. It’s eyes regarded me as if I was nothing, but curiosity was evident.

“The Skirmish,” I answered curtly as I nocked a Lyco Puff arrow.

“Skirmish? No.” I had no idea what that meant, but it began to frown as the mana whips lit up once more.

I couldn’t help but sigh as I primed the arrow with mana, making it explosive. The string of my bow lit up, and without a second thought I fired. The process took less than a second as a line of red appeared within my vision. Not taking any time after the fact, I ducked into a slide, as if I had tripped. The whip snapped through the air with a flash of purple, narrowly missing me. The arrow exploded on the monster as I heard a small yelp.

Subsequently, the spores spread and bloomed once more. And with yet another green explosion, nearly half of the chamber was covered with a light green mist. The Moonfang began to cough.

“What. You?!” It growled as I saw purple light within my vision.

Red came, but it was too late. Purple. I screamed, burning pain seared my leg, coursed through it, numbness soon came as I finished my slide. Just a quick look at my leg and I saw no armor, just red— it was bleeding profusely but seemingly only my skin was gone. I gritted through the pain as I managed to dodge another attack, simultaneously, I grabbed a health potion from the ring and quickly drank it all.

The relief was almost instant. The Moonfang began to lightly cough, which prevented it from attacking me even if briefly. I grabbed another arrow, this time an Ayas Azalea one. I needed to kill it, fast— nocked and filled with the intent to burrow. I fired. The arrow became a bright green flash as it headed in its direction.

“Agh!” With a bright flash the arrow was snapped mid air.

A frown formed as I grabbed seeds from my ring. Not taking a second to doubt, I preemptively slid away. It twisted its body and the ground snapped next to me, broken and shattered as some dust entered my eyes. I got the briefest glimpse as I closed my eyes, the Moonfang was wobbling and struggling to deal with the spores. I smiled as I pushed mana into my boots and forcefully stopped the slide. The ground in front of me disappeared with a purple flash. Shifting my mana into the seeds, I tossed them towards the Moonfang.

It growled as some flashes passed, but unfortunately some seeds still landed to his side.

Bloom. Vines broke and dug into its flesh, the monster shrieked as its body was enveloped with a layer of purple, and once more danger overwhelmed me. I side-stepped, but a whip hit my ankle. I screamed as I commanded the vines to immobilize it. The pain coursed through my body, my ankle felt as if it was actively burning, as my vision was clouded by tears.

“Got. You.”

Another whip hit me, I screamed once more as it enveloped around my arm and pulled. I let go of my bow as I was flung mid air.

“Strong. Me. Stronger!”

Slammed. My back nearly cracked hitting the chamber rock walls. I threw up some blood as I cursed. I didn’t want to be in this fight but I had no choice! The whip pulled and slammed me once more as my vision was dyed red. My sense of danger triggered from my deepest parts as I rolled away, with a crash a rock as big as my body slammed in front of me. My heart nearly stopped as cold sweat filled me.

Grabbing yet another potion I drank it.

The Moonfang was bleeding from its extremities and its legs were trembling. Normally I would’ve been happy, but its gaze held no worry, and it showed. My body was destroyed. Every move was painful. I struggled to stand up from the ground.

“You. Strong. Serve. Me.”

I felt a small amount of anger with me, but then I realized. It didn’t take me as a threat. It was humiliating. I gritted my teeth as I weighed my options. On one hand, I could pretend to give up and attack it, on the other I could just attack it. But one option took away my pride, and made me less than what I currently was. I already am at rock bottom. I made my choice as I grabbed a small stone from the ground.

“Fuck you.”

The stone was overwhelmed with mana as I threw it. I looked away and the air snapped, as its whip hit it. The flashbang went off and my ears buzzed. I reached for my spear instinctively and using all my strength, I pushed forward, my body ached, but it listened. The monster had curled into a ball, its head wasn’t visible, but it was enough. I grunted, screamed as I pushed with all my strength, mana welled at the spear tip as I stabbed into the monster’s body. Its fur gave way as the spear tip pierced and melted its insides, the mana welled and exploded as I heard a yelp. The mana whip came my way though it was considerably slower than previous times, hitting my ribs. I felt my insides churn as I gripped my spear with my utmost strength. I was launched away as I struggled to not throw up. Even though I felt like I was dying, my Vigor was really just keeping me alive. The monster rolled, tumbled in pain as I grabbed two more health potions and drank them.

“KILL. WILL KILL. YOU!”

It shrieked through the pain. I struggled to stand up as I made my choice, I couldn’t move but my arms were fine— I was fine, just I wasn’t able to move properly anymore but its whips had slowed down, I could do it... It wasn’t that heavy… I grabbed more seeds from my ring, and quickly dropped two trees and one okra. Quickly, they bloomed and some of the roots and branches enveloped around my legs. The okra plant sprouted a pod full of tree seeds, as I smiled. The monster was still rolling on the ground, its light purple fur was now stained in red, its body was twisted and broken, and yet it was still alive. With a frown I grabbed the pod as I pushed mana into it. My mana wasn’t really close to empty, but I had used well over half already. I gripped the pod tightly as I threw it to its side, it rolled and bumped into it. I could feel my mana ready to go. As if it was a reflex, the whip came towards me but I saw it vividly.

If they can hit me, then they can be grabbed.

I could do it. I extended my hand as it whipped onto my shoulder blade. Pain shot through me as I got a hold of the purple light, and I felt it. A smile formed on my face as it tried to move back, I was unsure of how it worked, but the mana felt frozen solid.

Payback time. The pod broke into a single Deep Dark tree, flinging the monster into the air. Rapidly coiling the whip around my hand, my muscles bulged as I pulled in the opposite direction with my utmost strength. The monster flew. Blood came from my nose as the monster zipped through the air, my spine felt pain like never before. My shoulder dislocated as the monster finally slammed onto the cold hard rock. I felt all my strength drain me after, but its neck had been broken—something. It just had to die…

I stopped myself from coughing up a mouthful of blood. Swallowing the awful taste as I took out another health potion and drank it. I have now used five… I shook my head as I waited for the monster to slowly die, since its Vigor seemed to be just as good as mine. In the meantime, I made a wisteria and brought back my bow, preparing an arrow for the kill. As I pulled back the string, it spoke.

“FEAR. ME.” It was ghastly and it trembled. The Moonfang rose once more but it was on its knees. It stared at me with its golden eyes that were now glowing. “GIVE. UP. DIE.”

[You’re immune to Mental Attacks, effect: voided.]

A smile formed, it was a grin that hurt as my mana forcefully exploded into the bow, and not even a second later the string buzzed, the arrow zipped—streaked and fully impaled the Moonfang’s head.

“How…”

It wobbled, and finally… dropped. It echoed dully on the cave as the notifications came.

[New Milestone reached — Skills & Knowledge Available]

A deep sigh left me as blood seeped through my mouth. I stared at the ceiling and finally at my surroundings. A groan left me as I finally relaxed. In the end I couldn’t help but mutter.

“It feels good to be alive…”

I commanded the branches to leave me. And finally I was free. I limped from the pain, but I was free to go. My heart was still beating fast, but the relief I felt from killing it was just what I needed. I turned towards the entrance.

The cave system should be clear for now… As I limped towards the entrance, I saw something.

A— Bloodfang.

[Bloodfang. Lvl. 16]

It stared at me with its crimson eyes and then at the Moonfang. A snort of annoyance left me as I grabbed an arrow and pushed mana into the string, and then, using some half of my remaining mana. I made the arrow explosive before I shot.

The Bloodfang stared for a moment before it looked upwards and— howled.

The arrow exploded and instantly killed it, the howl only echoing for half a second.

[You have killed: (E) Bloodfang. Lvl. 16]

And then. More howls echoed on my ears, and I saw a sliver of dust drop from the ceiling. The ground was trembling. I was about to curse when I began to cough blood. My body still felt absolutely worn and destroyed, I was in no condition to fight anything! My eyes darted around, desperately to find a solution, and almost as if it was my answer, they kept wandering towards the tunnel. It was dark, but there was a chance I could find something— an escape.

I stood up feeling residual pain and soreness. My entire body ached from every single movement, but I still jogged to the best of my ability. My right hip felt almost detached from my body, and my ribs felt deformed under whatever was left of my armor. In just a few seconds I entered the cave to the best of my abilities.

I didn’t know for how long I moved forward, but eventually the ground shook harder and harder, and yet there was no light aside from Glim’s anymore. My breathing grew hurried as nervousness overtook me. I had to stay alive. I cared for my life. Limping and dragging I eventually found light.

There was yet another cave system, this time it felt hot and fire mana crystals filled the walls. The place I found myself in was considerably more uneven and harsher, it was akin to staring down a ravine. And in the distance, I saw two Moonfangs walking next to each other.

I had hardly killed one, let alone be able to kill two. At that moment, I felt like I had maybe made a mistake—

Howling echoed through the tunnel behind me. It was trembling and I could even hear the footsteps now. They were going to catch up soon…

There was no easy way out. I stared at both of the Moonfangs, and at that moment I couldn’t help but remember the Fangtooth that rebelled against the one I had just fought. It had died from doing so. I gulped as nervousness filled me. It was do or die at this point.

I had no choice if I wanted to even have the chance to stay alive…
