The Blindfolded Prostitute

Your Highness, Duke Eliche of Flambard¹.”

Leshak greeted the messenger of The Principality of Flambard on the throne of Asilah Palace.

He looked at Duke Eliche with indifferent eyes.

Duke Eliche was completely disarmed and showed his willingness to surrender with his whole body.

The parchment with the declaration of intent inscribed on it was delivered to Leshak’s hand first. The treaty, which had already been stamped with Flambard’s seal, was in the final state and only needed Leshak’s approval.

“I humbly seek an audience with the Caliph, the name of the greatest bloodline bestowed by God upon the continent of Godfrey.”

The gifts he brought were piled up behind The Duke of Eliche.

There were thirty chests of gold. The other coffers were also full of jewels and rare objects.

The expression on his face became servile. Duke Eliche had even given up trying to hide his fear.

The Leshak Caliph he saw on the battlefield should have been called a monster.

As long as he was alive, there was no chance of winning this war.

The Kemened Kingdom has already disappeared. There was no law preventing him from becoming The Duke of Flambard.

The Duke of Eliche came one step closer and knelt on one knee.

Duke Eliche, who had placed his forehead on his knee, lifted his head and looked up at Leshak.

“The Principality of Flambard will swear allegiance to the Ibeden Empire and to the Caliph bloodline. The surrender is unconditional, and the oath to the Empire will continue for as long as the name of the principality exists.”

“… …”

There was no answer from the young prince.

The longer he stayed silent the more anxious Duke Eliche became.

The image of the Leshak Caliph he had witnessed on the battlefield was still clear in his mind’s eye. It didn’t look like the scenes of war, it looked like a slaughter!

Rumors of him driving the Royal Family into the prayer room and slaughtering them all reached the battlefield quicker than Leshak’s Army.

There has never been such cruelty in the history of continental warfare. There was a divided opinion that First Prince Leshak must have been tired of the continuous war and wanted to set an example for other small countries. No one wants to be the next example.

“This gift is part of that loyalty. Please,”

His spine contracted as he looked into the eyes that held no emotion or reply.

Duke Eliche felt uneasy as though this was not the Royal Palace, but the heart of the battlefield where the slaughter was still at its peak. Duke Eliche had no idea about Leshak’s condition and he was afraid of what the Crown Prince’s unresponsiveness meant.

“Hey, come forward.”

Duke Eliche spoke to the largest coffer.

Then the lid of the chest opened by itself, and a person came out.

He was a young man dressed in fine silk clothes and adorned with gold and silver jewelry.

No, the word “man” was the wrong word. He was a boy, who was a well-groomed, sleek beauty.

His straight black hair was oiled and combed and fluttered down the nape of his neck.

He was a gift that was urgently prepared for Crown Prince Leshak after hearing that he was fond of a young, black-haired, male prostitute.

“This way, impart yourself to The Crown Prince of Ibeden. Show some courtesy.”

The gift with dark hair and white skin crept up carefully like a cat.

He had no choice but to do so.

Because the gift was now blindfolded.

“… …”

Then, for the first time, The Duke of Eliche saw First Prince Leshak’s eyes change.

It may mean that he chose the right gift.

“I prepared this gift because I heard that His Majesty held a particular aesthetic. We will make your heart satisfied in every way, please,”

Leshak’s lips twisted slowly.

“….. Do you wish to satisfy me?”

“Yes, Your Highness.”

“With anything?”

“Yes……?”

The Duke of Eliche’s eyes were not wrong.

Leshak clearly showed a reaction. The question was what kind of reaction.

“Well, if this gift is inadequate, I’ll prepare something else. Please don’t judge the Principalities integrity by this one child². If you give me a little bit of time, I will give you the best merchandise you’ll ever get anywhere on the continent……”

Duke Eliche’s words were cut off.

Plunk!–

The treaty that Leshak had released from his hand, rolled like a stone on the side of the road and struck The Duke of Eliche’s toe.

Leshak didn’t even look at Duke Eliche’s gift.

Even God would not know what kind of emotion he was feeling with his dugout heart.

The gift was not Radan. It wasn’t Radan, but he was imitating Radan. It reminded him of Radan, but it didn’t bring Radan to where he was now.

So all he could feel was the anger of his empty palms.

“Y,your Highness …… ?”

The Duke of Eliche, who did not understand, stammered as he called for Leshak.

Leshak said to Abadd.

“Put the gift giver in the chest. Send it back with the other things he brought.”

“M,my Lord! How is this…… How can you do this to an Emissary!?”

Duke Eliche let out a suffocating sound.

He still didn’t know what he did wrong.

Abadd thought it would be better to shut The Duke of Eliche up before anything more serious happens.

As he blinked, the soldiers seized Duke Eliche and shoved him into the coffer along with a male prostitute dressed up as Radan.

“Then what will we do about The Principality of Flambard?”

Abadd asked.

“Tell them to send another Emissary.”

“All right.”

Abadd bowed his head and took a step back.

Then, turning silently, Leshak’s words flew behind his back.

“Next time, just let the person in, so that something like that will never happen to me again.”

“…… Yes, My Lord.”

Leshak closed his eyes as if nothing had happened.

A familiar nightmare found him again. Amid the pain that pierced his heart, Leshak turned his gaze downward.

The same voice was heard without exception.

– I like you, My Lord.

His curse was like candy, ridiculously sweet.

“Over there, Sir Spelding!”

Three hours after he began climbing the rocky mountain Veroz found traces of the Gett’s escape carriage.

It looked as though the carriage couldn’t overcome the rough roads and its wheels had broken apart, then it was abandoned.

In this type of terrain, there was a limit to the distance a carriage could run. The more people in the party, the more disadvantageous it was for those who escaped.

As expected, there were traces of another cart being there.

This time, there were no signs of damage anywhere, so they threw this one away. The very expensive and precious things were left behind, untouched.

It seemed as if they could grasp just how urgent the situation was.

Veroz gaged the direction in which the carriage was abandoned, and the possible terrain in front of it.

“It must be this way.”

There was no other way.

“Here!”

Veroz kicked the horse in the side. The horse neighed long and ran forward.

So, thirty minutes later.

Veroz found another abandoned carriage.

And that was all. There were no other traces.

“No way…… on purpose?”

Veroz’s face crumbled with a defeated look.

Leshak’s army once again lost The Unknown Assassin.

In the middle of a wasteland with endless rocky mountains in front and traces of lies scattered behind.

“Nonsense…… no way. I can’t lose him like this.”

Veroz ground his teeth.

They had to form a search party.

A thorough search of the vicinity required reinforcements.

“I must send a message to His Highness. Get your pigeons ready.”

 “All right, Sir Spelding.”

After a while, a pair of pigeons flew toward Asilla Palace where First Prince Leshak was.

“How is it? Is everything alright?”

Vendel looked at his employer who shrugged his shoulders with a puzzled look. His expression said that he couldn’t figure out how to respond to this.

“You’re asking that now?”

“You have to admit, we got away safely.”

It was fine to leave the wagon behind. It was a waste, of course, the contents could have been converted into money and Vendel could have cried for about three days over it, but it was Ozdin’s money anyway, so that was that.

It was also inevitable that the porters they had hired on the spot, were to be quickly dismissed. Actually, it was fine to admit that it was ingenious. The porters were paid ample sums and then sent out alone to find their own way. The party was reduced by a third and the cargo was now gone, so their speed had increased.

Vendel thought that if they ran to the next city like this, they would be able to outrun the Imperial Army.

However,

They were now in the city of Attica again!

After dispersing in pairs, each of them secretly crossed the gate.

The Imperial Army thought The Unknown Assassin had escaped, so they only concentrated their forces on that side of the gate, and the Gett party was able to take advantage of the relatively lax security inside the fortress city.

Now, for whatever reason, it worked out.

The only problem was that they were still in the city of Attica.

“Really, can’t you admit that this is like being an outcast? Don’t you truly think so?”

“Then what should we do? Being chased doesn’t suit his constitution.”

“Now isn’t the time to quibble over physical constitutions! So what are you going to do!?”

“What do you mean?”

Ozdin looked at Radan.

Contrary to his concerns, Radan didn’t feel awkward about the dress at all. Considering that he couldn’t see, he walked and ran well.

Moreover, although there were times when his clumsy and pitiful movements became distressing, there were also times when he’d sneak up from behind without his footsteps making a sound.

Without training, such a move would never have been possible.

What on earth are you?

Ozdin muttered to himself.

What the hell have you been doing?

Radan’s past may be more abnormal and complex than one might have imagined.

What made Ozdin uneasy was not Radan’s past.

He wanted to know what kind of person Radan was. He wanted to find out everything about him from head to toe. From the start, he wanted to take out everything in his head and examine it.

It was the most incomprehensible thing to feel such strong emotions for someone, for whom he only knew a name and face.

“I have to find it.”

Vendel asked with bewildered eyes.

“….. What? What are you looking for? What do you mean?”

“Someone who knows who Radan is.”

Staying in Attica was to evade the pursuit, but there was another reason he couldn’t leave the city yet.

Vendel opened his mouth vigorously.

Zorg mimed covering his open mouth with his hand.

“You, you can’t mean……? Are you talking about finding the Prophet Hadir?! Right now, in the midst of being pursued by the Imperial Army?!”

Ozdin nodded his head lightly as though he were saying something normal.

“He’s an untethered person. However, it seems that the Prophet Hadir is here. But if I run away from here now, I don’t think I’ll be able to come back for a while.”

“What are you talking about now!?”

Ozdin quickly blocked Vendel’s mouth, which was about to burst out in anger.

“Why put it off until later? We’re being pursued right now, so why not use a bit of caution?”³

“He made this situation!”

Vendel shouted, fluttering his arms.

Even to Radan’s ears, Vendel’s anger was justified.

He could no longer drag others into danger that didn’t involve them. He shouldn’t have asked for help in the first place.

He fumbled through the air and grabbed the hem of Ozdin’s clothes.

“I…… I’ll go here separately. If we keep going together,”

“Oh my.”

Ozdin left Vendel and turned to Radan.

“Now, do you know that you’re wearing very pretty bridal clothes?”

“…… ? What does it matter……,”

“If you say that one more time I’ll kiss you. From the moment you put it on, I felt like I was dying to do it, but it turned out alright.”

“Don’t do that,”

“I really do want to.”

Ozdin lowered himself and really did press his lips against Radan’s veiled lips.

“Uh,”

Radan tilted his head in surprise.

Ozdin quickly grabbed his shoulder and locked him in before he fell, and whispered.

“Keep saying more. The next time, I’ll remove the veil too.”

And Ozdin turned around without waiting for Radan’s next words.

“Let’s get an Inn first. The others will disperse and chase down the whereabouts of Prophet Hadir, so let’s change clothes in the meantime. That blue dress suits you so well that I think I’ve gone a bit mad, so I’ll have you wear something less alluring this time.”

Ozdin strode very fast.

Vendel, who had been left behind, quickly grabbed Radan and led him saying;

“Oh, how about if you go there with us? You’re not going to throw us aside and run away alone, are you? Radan, it seems like I’ll miss you for a long time if you do, so let’s hurry and catch up.”

“Well, I……”

His hesitant steps were slow.

But Vendel, like Ozdin, did not even think about heeding Radan’s remarks.

“What are you doing? If we get caught like this will you take responsibility, Radan? Come on, come on!”

“So go on without me.”

“Oh my goodness, really! What is the point of separating now when we’ve already exposed our faces and identities? It’s like opening the sails when the wind has stopped! Now there’s only one way to escape. Besides, if you keep saying that, you will antagonize our successor Lord. So, are you not aware that the gentleman really will kiss you because you’re exciting him, right? Hurry and walk while you are talking, come on!”

Vendel began to push Radan’s back.

Ozdin rented rooms in a corner Inn on the outskirts of the city. He’s said to have more luck than money and managed to find a very tight-lipped innkeeper.

Thanks to that, Radan was able to find a place to hide and breathe for a while as Veroz wandered in the wrong place.

Two days passed like that.

Squeak.-.

A small sound echoed through the door.

It was Vendel.

He was back from going out to buy some breakfast foods and to check the trends of the Imperial Army.

“Sir. It’s me. I’m coming in.”

Vendel whispered inside and then carefully opened the door.

Thud.-

As the door closed behind his back, he spoke in a proper voice.

“Ugh, it’s still brutal outside! If we hadn’t borrowed the innkeeper’s clothes we would have been discovered. After all, the Lord’s fine hair……“

“Shh.”

Ozdin’s warning interrupted Vendel’s speech.

”… …?”

Ozdin lifted a finger and pointed to the bed that he was sitting on, and where Radan was lying. In short, he was sitting next to Radan who was sleeping while looking at Radan’s face.

‘Tsk tsk.’

Vendel clicked his tongue. It made no sound, it was just mimicking.

“How long have you been doing this? Are you going to wash your face? If you keep staring at him like that you’ll burn a hole through him. Please cut it out.”

“I can never get enough.”

When Ozdin finished speaking, Vendel put a finger on his lips in embarrassment.

“No, why are you telling me to be quiet? No matter how long I look at him, I never get tired of it. It makes me wonder what happened to my eyes and my mind.”

“Yes, Yes. All right. So be quiet……”

“It’s alright. I’m just telling you to listen because I’m serious.”

“…Ugh.”

Vendel shook his head.

“I feel pity for you now, my successor Lord. Since when did you become a person who cries over love from just looking at someone? Didn’t you say before that, well, love is an emotion that only happens when she lifts her dress?”

 “That was not my destiny.”

“Do not evade the question. People don’t change. It’s him that’s got you going?“

“Maybe I was waiting to meet this guy. That’s the way fate is. It’s unknowable, yet deadly.”

“That’s…… Well, those are beautiful words but I don’t think it meshes well with our successor Lord, but whatever, let’s leave it at that. However, why is Radan sleeping so long? Maybe he wasn’t fully recovered or something like that?”

“Well…”

“What!? Why are you acting like it is none of your concern? Haven’t you been watching him this whole time?”

Ozdin replied calmly.

“I just thought it was a good thing that he didn’t wake up, and I was thinking of kissing him. But he’s talking in his sleep. Isn’t that wonderful……,”

“In other words, you were staring at him and then you lost your mind.”

“Well, something like that. I can’t take my eyes off him.”

“Oh god!”

Radan began talking in his sleep again.

“……. Don’t go…… never…..”

His words didn’t sound like normal words anymore. Rather, they were more like moans.

It sounded as though his dream had disintegrated into a nightmare.

“Should it be better to wake him up?”

“It might be. Shall I wake him up now?”

“What are you saying? This is an opportunity.”

Ozdin quickly leaned toward Radan. His eyes gleamed and he smiled mischievously.

“Radan I think you’d better stop and wake up. I’ll kiss you if you don’t.”

“… …”

Ozdin saw tears flowing underneath his blindfold.

Radan was crying.

“……I like you, My Lord.”

After hearing that.

Ozdin’s smile faded away.

Ozdin muttered through stiff lips.

“My Lord……is it?”
