The Master of Excuses

Your Highness, I……”

Radan heard Sidris’ voice through the rippling water.

It was a mixture of concern, worry, and the faint anger that preceded it.

“It is unacceptable. Please think again, Your Majesty. Please……,”

It also sounded familiar.

They all knew that he was an assassin.

That was the past he wanted to forget.

As Radan crouched in the bathtub he felt as if he was sinking into something heavier than water, like mud.

“Do you think I’m doing this because I’m not thinking?”

Leshak’s voice asked a question.

A chill crept over his shoulders that were exposed above the water.

Leshak, who was sitting in front of the bathtub in a chair, poured water down onto Radan’s shoulder.

The water in the bathtub was halfway cold, and as the cool water touched Radan he felt the wound on the back of his neck hurt again.

“Your Majesty. This is……. I am a sinner. I have committed a sin that cannot be washed away, and I deserve to receive the punishment that is owed.”

Sidris pointed to Radan with a wink.

Radan was in the bathtub naked, with only a blindfold on. It was the maids who brought the bathtub and water and made the soap bath, but it was Leshak who took off Radan’s clothes and put him in the bathtub.

Moreover, the clear wound on the nape of his neck looked like an excessive and twisted caress no matter how you looked at it.

“This…… You are not handling a sinner, are you?”

“This is for me.”

“You mean to wait for a criminal to bathe?”

“It’s for a simple reason, if this guy isn’t clean, I won’t feel comfortable.”

“That means……,”

…… After he’s clean, what are you planning to do?

The words never came out of his mouth.

Sidris feared that Leshak would far too simply make his biggest worries and concerns a reality.

You were chivalrous back then.

Hopefully even now too…….

“……Your Majesty. He is a criminal…… Are you going to warm the bed with a sinner?”

The answer was as simple as he expected.

“I think so.”

“Your Majesty ……”

Sidris’ expression distorted.

“Do I have to remind you again that this man was an assassin who sought the life of His Majesty? This…… It’s too dangerous, Your Highness.”

“Ris,”

Leshak called Sidris.

Sidris’ shoulders stiffened.

Calling the Guardian Knights by short names as when they were young, was a habit that came out when Leshak was in a very good mood.

However, Leshak did not realize that he had such a habit. He may not even know how he feels.

So Sidris felt dread.

He was happy…… that he was here.

He wanted him back.

Even now, knowing who everyone is.

Sidris’s complexion turned to ruin.

Gurgling–

Leshak spoke as he continued to pour water on Radan.

“I know who this guy is. I know what he’s done. So I want to know why he did that.”

“Are you going to ask the assassin why? That’s pointless, Your Majesty.”

“No.”

The denial was adamant. It was clear and simple.

Leshak knew what he wanted.

He didn’t want to take back the sincerity he had given Radan.

Just because he killed The Unknown Assassin wouldn’t mean that the sincerity he had given him would come back.

It was Radan he wanted back.

Radan de La Ranadia.

He was born as the Third Prince of Kemened but became an assassin without a name.

He who did not finish the assassination which would have promised him a name.

Instead of killing Leshak, he said he liked him.

“I have to know.”

So he will check.

What is the reason Radan didn’t kill him?

The reason he said ‘I like you’.

“I heard that Rum is awake, would you mind running an errand for me? Ask Rum what Radan’s favorite snack is, and bring it to him.”

“Are you going to feed the sinners sweets?”

“Do you want to stop me?”

Leshak turned his head to look at Sidris.

Sidris met his eyes and knew that Leshak was grinning inside.

And, that he couldn’t stop him.

“…… No, My Lord.”

“Alright.”

Leshak said while holding a towel in his hand.

“I want you to hurry. I’m slowly falling asleep and I want to delay going to bed.”

He could not stop Leshak.

Leshak was trying to end the sleeplessness and nightmares that had driven him into a tense madness.

Sidris sighed.

Still, there was one good thing about it.

They must have longed for the end of Leshak’s sleeplessness.

“I will go.”

His body was washed.

A silky robe was draped over his bare body, which had been wiped dry.

Shudder-.

Then one wrist was shackled again.

After bathing, his body was fragrant, and the bed touching his skin was as cozy as a dream, but his mind felt like he had fallen onto a thorn bush.

They called him an assassin.

He couldn’t remember, but he had killed someone.

But now, on the Prince’s bed, he was smelling sweet sugar. The whole thing didn’t make any sense.

The most painful thing was the voice of Prince Leshak, coming from very close to him.

“I heard you like raspberries very much. Isn’t this a bit more sour than that?”

Every time he heard that voice, his heart tightened.

He had to run away.

Another self, who fell into his mind, exclaimed it with all his might.

Run, flee, run.

You can’t be around this person.

Every time the urge to run shook him up, he was overwhelmed with fear.

With Prince Leshak, it seemed that something terrible would happen that he could not handle.

“Radan, open your mouth.”

A sweet smell permeated the inside of his senses.

It was the smell of the sweets that Prince Leshak was offering.

Radan shook his head slightly.

“Do you not like it?”

“Why…… are you like this……I don’t understand, My Lord.”

“You were the one who said you liked sweets. Do your eating habits change when your memories disappear?”

“I don’t think I would give the assassin sweets……”

Leshak grinned.

“It’s surprising. You’ve eaten it well before. Even then, you were still a sinner, Radan, it’s just that you were hiding it.”

“That…… I don’t remember,”

“You might remember when you try it.”

Suddenly a confectionery went into his mouth.

The sweet cream blended with the freshness of raspberries and honey, melted on his tongue.

It tasted like tears.

“Looking at your face I think you don’t like it much, here, try this.”

A cookie with a different flavor entered his mouth.

But the taste was the same. The cookie melted into tears.

“Why are you crying?”

“Well……I don’t know.”

“I don’t remember, I don’t know…… that’s a disrespectful attitude! I  liked it better when you stuttered, Radan. It touched my heart somehow, to see you trying to answer a question.”

It was something Radan didn’t know.

“Be as desperate as you were back then. I don’t like the way you are right now.”

“What should I do……I don’t know if it will work.”

“I don’t even know this time either.”

Leshak raised his hand and grabbed Radan’s hair.

The gap between the eyes and eyebrows has expanded.

He didn’t like it. The Radan who lost his memory was so different from before. It was so easy to say ‘I don’t know’.

The hand holding his hair tensed.

“Then I must make you desperate again.”

“… …!”

His head bent back, and Leshak’s lips covered his sweet honey-scented lips.

The warm, soft touch of his lips was to no avail. Leshak’s open mouth moved harshly, like punishment.

“Ah,”

Radan shook his head.

His head was held tight, and he couldn’t move at all. The more Radan struggled, the more his shackles clattered and scratched his wrists.

“Huh, I,”

Radan pushed Leshak with his free left hand.

Leshak grabbed his hand and held it over Radan’s head. His body was crushed helplessly.

It was such a strong feeling that it made his stomach churn.

Radan gasped for breath, and Leshak let go of his lips for a moment.

That didn’t mean the situation had changed.

Leshak’s lips whispered just above his lips.

His breath and body temperature were transmitted as they were.

If a little while ago the sudden touch was just embarrassing, now, this time he realizes what it means.

“You don’t know this?”

“I ”

“You know what I’m going to do?”

The hand that was holding his head came down and traced the line of his lips. A new sensation was added to the wet and puffy lips.

His body trembled.

It was too close and too hot.

It was a feeling of being swept away by a very hot and violent wave, and unable to do anything.

The weight of Leshak weighing down on him kept getting hotter.

“Try saying ‘I don’t know this time’.”

Fingers opened his lips.

A finger came into his mouth and pressed his tongue. A cold, wet sound followed the movement of his finger.

Leshak bowed his head and licked his auricle. As his ears got wet, the inside of his mouth became strangely sweet. The taste of the cookie that he had just swallowed without knowing the taste, spread.

Radan remembered the taste.

Once upon a time, it tasted like this. When the same weight, same body temperature, and same posture warmed him.

It was like being taken to another world.

“No, I can’t…”

Radan pushed Leshak away.

A lost memory whispered.

The other world he should never visit.

A place where things he’ll never be able to handle happen.

Radan groaned and cried out.

“No, let me go. Let go.”

The hand that was holding him trembled with strength.

A place where the traces of another remained.

Leshak had destroyed the traces with force.

It would have been nice if his heart was in a place like that, where it could be revealed. Then he could destroy those bonds too.

“Don’t you like it?”

“……No, My Lord.”

When asked, Radan had to answer. His wrist that was held by Leshak was almost broken.

“Why not?”

“No…… you can’t, my Lord. It’s…… “

“Why not?”

“I, I”

“Why?”

“……”

 Leshak lowered his body.

One hand slipped through the hem of Radan’s shirt. While pressing Radan, his fingertips brushed against the bumps on his chest as Radan twisted his body.

The dizzying pleasure that occurred in an instant felt like a shock.

Even though he was unbearable and frightened him, his body was responding steadily to Leshak.

Leshak knew it too. The hand stroking his chest slowed, like a gentle caress.

“You like it.”

“Oh, no…….”

“You said you liked it.”

The hand that had been stroking his bare chest went toward his waist.

His face became hot. His mind was hotter than that. The heat in his body seemed to swallow him up.

“No…… no!”

Radan cried out desperately.

If you are so afraid,

If you feel so scared and distressed,

You never would have liked it to start with.

“No that’s not it. I’m…… I’m scared. The past that I don’t know, Your Highness…… It’s frightening. I don’t even know why you’re doing these things to me…… It’s frightening.”

“Are you scared?”

Leshak shook his head with a look of incomprehension.

“I am not doing you any harm. I’m just making you excited.”

That was frightening, knowing that Leshak can make him that way.

“Besides, it was you who tried to kill me, Radan.”

He didn’t remember.

And he didn’t even want to remember.

Radan just wanted to hide very far, very deep.

“I don’t know…… what I did, My Lord.”

“It’s too easy.”

It was so easy to say ‘I didn’t know’.

It was too easy to say that he had forgotten everything.

The nightmare that was so terrifying to him was something that Radan could simply forget.

The figure of Radan hiding behind a blindfold claiming to know nothing, overlapped with the snake in the nightmare.

Like the serpent, Radan was digging into Leshak’s chest and biting his heart.

His heart was pounding.

This dreadful pain was something that Radan could ignore by saying he did not know.

“That’s no good, Radan.”

Leshak muttered on his exposed chest. The voice cracked so low that it sounded like a whisper.

“Remember, bring back what you erased, that is an order.”

The voice that seemed to have been raised, made Radan’s ears hurt.

Radan bit his lip to suppress the absurd urge to reach out and comfort Leshak.

“Why…… why give me…… such an order…… why aren’t you doing it, I…… I heard I’m an assassin, so why didn’t you execute me….”

Said Radan, as though an execution were easy.

What Leshak could and would never do.

“You don’t know why?”

If Radan was just an Unknown Assassin.

If he were, he would have been executed, willingly, gladly.

But Radan was not an assassin.

He who spent several days and several nights with his assassination target, and didn’t kill him, couldn’t be called an assassin. The one who said he liked the assassination target couldn’t be an assassin. A person who would give up everything he had agreed to in exchange for the assassination target’s life could not be an assassin.

Radan was not an assassin.

When Radan said he was an assassin, everything he said became a lie.

Saying that he likes him, saying that the name Ranadia is no longer needed.

And, he devoured his heart.

“No, I don’t know……, My Lord. I do not know. I don’t even want to remember……no! I have nothing……I want to be nothing without knowing. Even if you order it…… I don’t want to.”

”……”

Radan’s fingers twisted uncontrollably, still, he was unable to resist the strength of his grip.

Still, he couldn’t let it go.

“I’m sorry.”

Leshak didn’t open his lips until after a long time had passed.

“I want you to remember everything.”

“… …”

Leshak stretched out his hand to Radan, who was staring at him without a word. He grabbed his hair and pulled him to his chest.

Smooth hair coiled around his fingers like a living snake. He remembered what Radan’s hair felt like. It was still a terribly provocative sensation.

“Remember, Radan. I will help you.”

Sometimes the memory of the body is more accurate than the head. Leshak was going to let Radan discover it.

Screeching-

Leshak grabbed Radan’s robe. His gown was ripped in half, revealing his naked body.
