“The target of your mission…is her?” Bian Shengjian asked.

“Hmm.” Lu Shen replied, “Her name is Huang Xiaomei, she is nine years old this year.”

Bian Shengjian looked at the thin figure walking towards their direction. It was really difficult to connect this little girl with pigtails walking with her head down and the bloody thing in his memory.

“Why did she turn into resentment spirit”

“Because she has grievances.”

Lu Shen sighed softly. “The resentment that can turn a person into a resentful spirit after death is particularly strong. Usually, it is some kind of huge blow experienced during their lifetime, or a regret that they want to make up for even if they die.”

Bian Shengjian was silent for a while, then suddenly stretched out his hand and tried to touch the weeds growing in the cracks under his feet, but noticed that at the moment his fingertips touched the blade of grass, it became translucent, and then he passed through it unimpeded. The scene was just as weird as in the movie.

“So what can I do?” Bian Shengjian took a deep breath and retracted his hand, feeling the cold through the palm of his hand as he passed the blade of grass. “…like this, even an ant can’t be crushed to death, how can you help her resolve her resentment?”

“No, in this time and space, the only thing we can make contact with is the client,” Lu Shen said. “She can see us, hear us, and touch us.”

Bian Shengjian quietly looked at Huang Xiaomei, who lowered her head and walked towards the front through the crowd, and it took a long time before he said. “Such a small child, how could she have resentment?”

“We are now in an important period of her resentment. If nothing else, it is probably these few days.” Lu Shen said: “Keep up with her, but don’t get too close.”

“How many days?” Bian Shengjian’s eyebrows did not relax for a moment. “Then I…”

“Don’t worry,” Lu Shen guessed what he wanted to ask, and said warmly, “Even if you stay here for a few years, it will only take a few minutes there in reality.”

“I see.” Bian Shengjian glanced at him coldly, and followed him without getting too close.

Lu Shen said that the child named Huang Xiaomei was already nine years old, but she looked half a head shorter than the children of the same age in Bian Shengjian’s memory. She looked like a bean sprout swaying in the air from afar. The kind that was about to wilt due to lack of water.

The two followed her through the two streets, and they finally stopped after crossing the road three times. Although he and Lu Shen had no need to cross the road, Bian Shengjian was still completely unable to accept the misplaced time and space in front of him, not to mention letting a car or someone casually pass through his body.

This feeling was more unbearable than running naked on the street in public.

“Is this a hospital?” Bian Shengjian frowned, and an ominous premonition came to his mind instantly. “…Do you want to help her bring someone back from the dead?”

“Impossible,” Lu Shen shook his head,”Let’s observe the situation first. “

“Lu Shen.” Bian Shengjian didn’t move, but turned his head suddenly. “Don’t lie to me.”

Lu Shen’s expression was slightly startled.

“If I did everything you said and still can’t go back,” Bian Shengjian stared at him, “Then I’ll kill you first and then commit suicide. “

Lu Shen originally wanted to say that suicide in this time and space was far more difficult than bringing the dead back to life, but he remained silent for a while and then nodded lightly.

“Okay, I promise.”

Bian Shengjian stared at him again before turning his head, and followed Huang Xiaomei into the door of one of the buildings from a distance, which was marked with three big red letters: Inpatient Department.

After entering the hospital, Shengjian subconsciously pointed at his mouth and nose with his finger. Lu Shen immediately asked with concern, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Bian Shengjian shook his head, he hated hospitals. The smell of disinfectant everywhere always reminded him of death.

“Xiao Mei! Are you coming to see your mother again?”

While walking through the corridor, Bian Shengjian saw a passing nurse greet the child with a smile. “How come you’re so early today?”

“Yes, school ended early today.” Huang Xiaomei’s voice was low, as if she was talking to herself. “Sister, I’m going in.”

“Okay, go quickly.” The nurse touched her head and walked towards Bian Shengjian with a record book in her arms. Although he knew she couldn’t bump into him, he still stepped to the side subconsciously.

“That child came to see her mother again?”

A person who looked like a head nurse suddenly grabbed her and asked.

“Yeah.” The nurse sighed, “That child is also very pitiful.”

“Isn’t it! Her father died and her mother fell into a coma again in order to protect her…” The head nurse suddenly lowered her voice as she spoke, “But the situation in her family as I’ve heard, it is estimated that she will not be cured soon. “

“Alas, I’ll go make my rounds, Sister Jing.” The nurse just sighed at her sarcastic words, shook her head, and passed by. “…such a small child, it’s really not easy.”

Bian Shengjian stood aside and heard the conversation between the two of them clearly. After listening, there was no expression on his face, but his fists were clenched tightly.

“Don’t worry, go to the ward and have a look first.” Lu Shen originally wanted to pat him on the back soothingly, but after hesitating in the air for a long time, he retracted his outstretched hand. “Let’s go.”

Bian Shengjian looked at the closed door of the ward. After a while of silence, he gritted his teeth and passed through it. When he arrived at the door, he couldn’t help but get goosebumps. He couldn’t feel the joy of passing through the wall that was beyond a human’s ability, on the contrary, he felt like he was suffocating.

Lu Shen also followed him in, standing beside him silently observing Huang Xiaomei, who was a few beds away from them, and the woman lying on the bed.

The woman was wearing a ventilator, her face was haggard and her head was bare of any hair, but her facial features still looked soft and beautiful. This was probably what the nurse said about Huang Xiaomei’s mother who was knocked into a vegetative state.

The instrument beside the hospital bed made a beeping sound, and it seemed that the treatment cost for just lying here for a day was expensive. It’s unknown how long this woman had been lying quietly here.

“Mom.” Huang Xiaomei said with her back to them, she gently held the woman’s thin hand that was hanging by the bed, and said in a light tone, “I’ve come to see you.”

Lu Shen held his breath and looked at Bian Shengjian subconsciously, he also looked at him with a rather calm expression, but the hand on his side trembled slightly for some reason.

Huang Xiaomei said a lot to the woman, most of it was about what she did at school today and what happened to her. Coupled with her childish voice, it made one feel sour. At the end, those irrelevant thoughts finally stopped. Then they saw Huang Xiaomei raise her hand and wipe her face, turned slightly sideways and put on a smile. “Mom, I will sing to you today, I hope you can wake up soon.”

Huang Xiaomei said and cleared her throat, and slowly hummed a melody under the gazes of Bian Shengtong and Lu Shen.

“The stars in the sky don’t speak, the dolls on the ground miss their mothers…”

Lu Shen was stunned for a moment, then looked down and saw that Bian Shengjian’s hand suddenly trembled even more.

The singing wafted in the ward continued, but it was obvious to others that the person singing was clearly choked up.

“The eyes in the sky are blinking and blinking… Mom’s heart, Lu Binghua… my hometown. The tea garden in my hometown is full of flowers…Mother’s heart is at the end of the world…”

At the end of the song, Huang Xiaomei was already sobbing, but she still squeezed her hand tightly and hummed the remaining lyrics, her voice trembling.

“I think of my mother’s words every night…with tears shining brightly, Lu Binghua…”

After the song was sung, Lu Shen could clearly see a few drops of crystal-like tears falling to the withered hand, and were quickly wiped away carefully. “Mom, I’m afraid I have to go, I’ll come and see you tomorrow.”

The woman in the hospital bed did not respond. Huang Xiaomei gently covered her with the quilt, and when she turned her head, one could clearly see the tears running down her face and the redness of the tip of her nose from crying. However, in the next second, her eyes widened in horror.

“You… who are you? What are you doing here!”

“I’m…” Bian Shengjian was completely caught off guard by the situation that he could suddenly be seen, but Lu Shen keenly caught the strangeness in his eyes, like small traces tears.

“Little friend, we have something to talk to you about, can we go out and have a chat?” Lu Shen spoke in time to relieve the embarrassment. He smiled and pointed to the door. “Just in the corridor, is that okay?”

Maybe something in Lu Shen’s smile temporarily eased Huang Xiaomei’s nervousness. She hesitated for a long time before lifting the schoolbag on the chair, but her tone was still alert. “What do you want to talk to me about?”

“Let’s go out first, I’m afraid we’ll disturb your mother here.”

Lu Shen said with a smile.

“All right.”

Huang Xiaomei nodded, then turned around and glanced at the woman on the hospital bed reluctantly. “Goodbye, Mom.”

“Are you out of your mind? How will you open the door?” Bian Shengjian gritted his teeth and said in a low tone.

“Can you help us, little friend? Brothers can’t open the door when they’re too old.” Lu Shen still smiled.

Bian Shengjian: “…..”

Huang Xiaomei was stunned for a moment before she came over and opened the door with a look of “Are you mentally retarded?”

“Let’s go. “

“Thank you.” Lu Shen immediately followed.

Bian Shengjian was still a little overwhelmed when he walked out of the door of the ward. Although there was no one in the corridor at the moment, if a nurse came out of nowhere and saw a child talking into the air–

“Who are you?” Huang Xiaomei suddenly spoke, but this time her tone made Bian Shengjian slightly stunned.

“Are you sent by my uncle and aunt?” Huang Xiaomei stared at them, her eyes were completely different from those while she was inside the ward. It was filled with calmness and suspicions that were completely inconsistent with a nine-year-old child. Her tone was still a little cold. “What do you want?”

“Uh.” Bian Shengjian tried to organize his words, “We are…”

“No, we are here to help you.” Lu Shen said, “We are angels.”

Bian Shengjian choked, then turned to stare at Lu Shen silently.

“Angel?” Huang Xiaomei immediately took two steps back. “Lying to children, who will believe you! Anyone! Nurse sister! Here—”

Seeing that Huang Xiaomei was about to shout, Lu Shen sighed, reached out and hugged Bian Shengjian’s arm. “It’s not really easy to coax……Let’s get out of the hospital first.”

“Run… what are we running away for?” Before Bian Shengjian could finish speaking, Lu Shen dragged him towards the corridor and ran away. At the same time, Huang Xiaomei screamed for a long time. “Nurse sister! There are two bad guys here!”

“What? Where!” A nurse ran over immediately and looked around in panic. “Xiao Mei, where are the bad guys?”

“It’s there, sister, can’t you see it?” Huang Xiaomei pointed at the backs of the two in confusion.

“Uh….Xiao Mei, are you too tired from studying, are your eyes blurry?”

The nurse didn’t see anyone, but there was a cold feeling behind her. She patted Huang Xiaomei’s head while laughing casually and said, “If there’s nothing else, this sister will go to work first, and be careful when you go home.”

“…Okay.” Huang Xiaomei gave her a puzzled look, and remembered the strange words the two bad guys said before they left. She stood there and muttered to herself, “Angels?

“If only there were angels…I wish that you could save my mother and me,” she murmured.
