They arrived closer to the distribution center. The huge gates were closed and chained. the dried-out leaves piling on the ground were rusting in the wind giving off an ominous feeling.

Yue parked the car in the side. Tian got down and got rid of the chains and opened it.

They all entered the premises and parked the car close by.

Vigilantly, everyone got down.

Tian was leading with Yue and Fan right behind her. Hary was at the back having a lookout for the zombies outside.

The ones which were following them were mostly cleared but a few had somehow escaped and were rushing to enter through the gate.

The heavy metal gate held its place, unmoving.

'it will hold for a while. Still, we need to have a guard at the entrance,' Yue thought as he pushed opened the door to the center.

There was a huge glass ceiling to their side casting in the golden evening sunlight. But the further they went, the darker the room became....

few creaking sounds were heard.

"it's here! Something is here!" the technician cried hugging onto his back.

Fan Xui immediately peeled him off and sent him to the back of the group. "don't pull at anyone. You might put them in danger."

Yue glanced back curiously. "Fan I need your help. When we were at the hospital, you were able to sense the building's structure by passing a small amount of current through the ground. see if you can try it."

Fan Xui looked down at him with an unknown look in his eyes. But he complied silently. He squatted down and placed a hand on the ground.

Small sparks sparkled from his hand.

With his eyes closed, Fan Xui sat there.

Yue guarded him carefully while having an eye on the surroundings. This place looked very run down and, had a heavy smell of rot. There was also a subtle scent of bleach in the air.

Truth be told this place was creepy.

"I see a lot of machinery….. I can't see past a few meters?" Fan Xui glanced up at him. suddenly he started coughing loudly.

"Fan! You okay?" he gently patted his back.

Fan Xui smiled tiredly. "I'm fine. Just a little worn out."

Yue worriedly touched his cheeks. "Take some rest. Don't use your powers anymore, okay?"

"hmm…"

Tian pulled the technician forward. "Let's find out what's the problem and fix it soon as we can."

"I… miss… I…. I need the work manuals… I have to look at them and… we can maybe get it to work," the man glanced at the ground and mumbled. "we.. we must first check eth dam… the hydro power supply is the first thing we must check… it must have been interrupted…" the man refused to look up at her.

"We have Fan, he can supply a certain amount of current. But that we can deal with tomorrow. Now we'll go check if there is any damage to the machines."

"It's not… it's not… we can't do anything without electricity.. What about the hydro power,"

Yue interrupted him. "That's for tomorrow."

She frowned slightly, casting a look at Yue.

Yue peered at him with a deep frown. "It's getting dark. Let's first set up camp here. Let's separate us into two teams, one team will stay here with the Prisitsky and the mechanic while the other team two will scout the area and make sure it's safe and enclosed."

"good." Hary approved of the idea. "Yue and I will take a look further in. Tian and Fan stay with them,"

Yue thought about it for a minute. "hmm…"

"Stay safe everyone. If there is a problem call for us," Yue nodded towards Fan Xui.

Fan Xui smiled at him softly.

"Let's go," taking a torchlight and a few guns they ventured further into the distillation and distribution center.

There were huge boilers and pipes everywhere they looked. It made it very difficult for them to keep their guard up. Anything can be hiding behind those huge machines and they won't even have a clue when it attacks.

"Yue come close." Hary grabbed his hand and pulled him close.

Suddenly a cold feeling spread through his arms and face.

Yue glanced down to find his arms and his face covered in silk-like metal.

"Thanks…."

They looked around for a while but nothing out of ordinary was found.

They backtracked their way and joined with the rest of the group.

Tian vigilantly stood there while they walked out of the darkness.

"We didn't find anything. But it's best to be vigilant. We'll set camp here by the door. One person will stand guard while the other sleeps. Let's take shifts."

Quickly they moved out as a group took all the equipment from the jeep and started to set up a small camping site.

There were three tents. Since their jeep crashed sadly, their tent was also destroyed. only the tarp was saved from it.

Yue packed it up as well just in case it might be of help.

In a few minutes of work, the tents were set up.

"Ah I'm starving…" Hary groaned holding his tummy. "tian, start a fire… i want some cooked for a change my tummy can't handle granola anymore..." he blinked at her innocently.

Sighing, his sister set up a small controlled fire on the ground. Yue tore up the small coal packs and threw it in there to keep the fire going.

"I'll get the food," Fan Xui carried the bag of food close.

They all set there enjoying a nice cup of noodles.

Hary devoured his the fastest and burped loudly. "Gosh having hot food after a long time really feels so good." He mumbled.

Suddenly his eyes went over to the corner. The young researcher was mumbling something to himself whilst jotting down in his small notepad.

"he didn't eat?"

Tian pointed to the other noodle cup that was close to her. "nope, said he wasn't hungry. You can have it if you want,"

Without hesitation, Hary took the offered food and ate it with relish. All the while he couldn't help but look in that direction.

Soon the cup noodle in his hand was empty but there was a small weird feeling lingering…

A feeling of guilt ate at his heart.

He did not know what that was….

Hary glanced at the cup noddle. He couldn't help but think of that guy's bony neck… 'what if he collapses. Fuck, then I would have to carry him…'

"….. Tian do you have granola?"

She silently handed him one. "You owe me one,"

"Come on, don't be stingy. You ate a lot of candy during our special missions,"

"It was in the past. That doesn't count," she smirked widely.

"Stingy," he got up and hesitantly walked closer to him.

The young man had a microscope beside him and he was carefully looking in through it. "Fascinating indeed. Why didn't I think of that? Its molecular structure and RNA are different.." he continued jotting down random stuff in his notebook.

Hary peered from above curiously. But the moment he looked at it, his eyelid started to twitch. his handwriting was god awful. It looked like a chicken scratches.

"You're standing in the way of light…" Prisitsky glanced back slightly adjusting the glasses over his nose.

"There is no light here…" Hary scoffed. Literally, the man was sitting in the dark, scrunching his eyes to look at his precious specimen. "Now I know why you have to wear specks. Why are you even working in darkness? You can take rest and do it tomorrow,"

"Procrastination is not in my diary. Plus, I don't think I can sleep with all the excitement." He giggled holding up the small sheet of glass. There was a small red dot in between. "you know the mutated rat we saw. Its genes were so much more complex than I had thought. The first virus, the zombie virus looked like it did not hurt them, but in fact, it did. it was insignificant,"

"But when the second virus, the mutant virus, affected them, the changes became apparent. I can happily conclude that animals are, in fact, affected by both viruses."

Hary did not understand much. He simply sat down close by. "what about humans?"

"The second mutant virus did not seem to affect us,"

"So getting bit by those mutant animals is okay? we won't be infected?"

Prisitsky stared at him dully. "Weren't you listening… sigh… we will get affected even if we get bit by the mutant animals. They have a small part of the zombie virus still in them….. I'm not sure how it will affect us though…"

He glanced at his metallic arm. "Can I have your blood samples?"

"What if I say no?"

"It's to save the world as we know,"

"I still want to say no," Hary chuckled softly. "But… if I get a tempting offer I might confide,"'

Prisitsky faced him, with a serious gaze. "What do you need? I'm not that rich in resources so I don't think I can give you much…. And I don't like having intimate relationships with random people…."

"whoa whoa whoa… why did you think that I want to sleep with you?"

Prisitsky innocently shrugged. "I don't know, it just came to my mind."

"you should really learn to filter your words… I don't want anything of that sort from you.. just," he swiftly pealed the granola bar and showed it in his mouth.

Prisitsky took it out of his mouth immediately. "ew, did you wash your hands?"

"I did!" taking a deep breath Hary calmed down. "Just eat, I'll give you my blood samples only if you eat."

With a troubled look on his face, he bit into the energy bar. He slightly grimaced.

"What? you don't like it? you still have to eat it. or I won't give you my blood,"

"Okay okay! I'll eat it…"

Hary sat there watching him eat the granola like a little rabbit. He only took small nibbles on it and sometimes he gagged and choked on it.

It was worrying to look at.

"It's okay if you don't like it. Just give up.. I'll get you something…"

"I'll eat it. I need your blood," he anxiously whispered.

Hary sat down silently, peering at him take his last bite. "Do you always eat like that?"

"I eat well. Just don't feel like eating with the stench of rot around me," he mumbled softly. "I'm done. Give me your blood,"

As promised, Hary gave him his blood. But all the while his mind was racing… there was something weird about this doctor. He was underweight, he barely ate, and also back when they rescued him, he had noticed him vomiting secretly in the bathroom.

It made him wonder….

'Is he terminally ill?'
