Chapter 11

Rosena walked down the streets of the capital wearing a wide-brimmed hat.

She didn’t think the empire had changed that much in seven years, but it was just Rosena’s illusion.

The buildings and the style of clothes that people wore changed a lot.

Maybe that was why Rosena looked as if she had just returned from the past.

Rosena, who was walking around the streets and asking people, managed to find a doctor.

However, the doctor referred her elsewhere, saying that it was difficult to identify the disease.

Rosena came out of the clinic carrying Illian again.

She held the precious paper handed over by the doctor tightly and walked back down the street.

On the side of the road, there were people who were quite stylish and people who were heading somewhere.

Rosena took a cautious step so as to not be run over by people.

From afar, the sound of hoofs came out loud.

At the sound, Rosena clung to the wall, and immediately, two knights on horseback shot past.

Rosena stood there and looked at the horse’s increasingly distant back.

Her heart started beating faster, and an unknown sense of anxiety poured in.

“I see a lot of knights in the capital these days.”

A woman murmured with fond eyes to the direction where the knights had already disappeared.

“What if they’re looking for a criminal?”

“Really? I heard they increased security because there was a monster around the capital.”

They made a lot of speculations, but no one really knew.

“Anyway, the atmosphere in the capital is strange.”

With that said, the women went into a nearby store.

Rosena, standing behind the women, tugged her hat for no reason.

She didn’t know why the knights were going around, but there was nothing wrong with being careful.

She might get caught for nothing and then be checked unexpectedly.

Bribes might not work for the knights, so it was best to avoid them as much as possible.

“I wish I could go back to the kingdom soon.”

Rosena, who muttered to herself, clasped Illian on her back.

Rosena started walking along the street again.

Carrying Illian around, she was able to get to the clinic later than she expected.

Rosena stood in front of the clinic and looked up at the building.

The exterior of the old building told her how long it had been standing here.

As she went inside, there were quite a few people sitting on long wooden chairs.

Rosena, standing in the back, offered a letter of referral to an employee who came to receive the application.

“Oh, you’re here on a referral from Sir Jason. Please wait a moment.”

As the staff walked inside, Rosena sat down in a chair and rested for a while.

There were a lot of people waiting, so even though it was difficult to do the treatment right away, at least she could see the doctor.

How long did she wait? The employee who received the recommendation earlier called Rosena.

Rosena followed the staff inside.

There was an elderly doctor sitting in the doctor’s office.

Rosena came into the doctor’s office and tried to put Illian on the cot.

The doctor who examined Illian then opened his mouth.

“What happened…”

He looked at Illian in great bewilderment, and said with a grim look on his face.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t cure him.”

The words stopped Rosena’s movements.

Rosena looked up at the doctor, wondering if she had misheard.

However, the doctor did not correct his words.

“I don’t think any doctor will be able to treat this child. Think of him as dead.”

Rosena’s face turned white upon hearing the words thrown like a sentence.

She left the kingdom and came up to the capital. Rosena thought this was her last hope.

However, the doctor stuck a dagger in her one and only hope.

“How could you…”

When Rosena cried out, in tears, the doctor said coldly.

“There’s nothing I can do for you, so get out.”

He looked at Rosena and Illian as if they were plague patients.

The staff immediately pulled Rosena out. When Rosena held on, the staff grabbed and pulled Illian out.

Rosena, who couldn’t hold on any longer, had no choice but to leave on her own.

As she stepped out of the building, the scorching sun beat down Rosena mercilessly.

Her whole body was so sore as if she was hit by an arrow.

Rosena gasped, not wiping away the tears.

It was as if she had fallen into the abyss, it was all black in front of her.

After standing blankly for a long time, Rosena began to walk aimlessly.

They were undecided steps.

As she was walking down the street, she heard the loud sound of hooves coming from afar.

Rosena stepped aside reflexively to avoid the horse.

At that moment Rosena bumped into someone and was pushed aside.

“Ah, what is this!”

A bulky man looked down at Rosena with a grimace.

Rosena managed to straighten herself and stop herself from stumbling.

“I’m sorry.”

Rosena apologized quickly. She didn’t want to create anything that would catch people’s attention.

But contrary to Rosena’s wishes, the man did not let Rosena go.

“You’re just gonna apologize with words and leave?”

The man carefully examined Rosena’s face.

Plump red lips were visible under the heavily pressed hat.

The man who confirmed it narrowed his eyes.

“You should compensate me for hitting me on the shoulder.”

“What…”

Even before the end of the sentence, the man’s hand popped out and held Rosena’s arm.

Her arms trembled when the man grabbed her with a strong grip.

At this rate, Illian, who was on her back, would fall down.

As Rosena held out, the man looked carefully at Rosena.

Then he checked the child on her back and nodded to the men standing next to him.

Two bulky men approached Rosena and grabbed Illian.

Rosena, who lost Illian in an instant, looked at the man with a pale face.

“I’ll give you money, so…”

“We don’t need money, do you want to hang out with us?”

The man snapped off Rosena’s words. He muttered with an insidious smile.

“You don’t need a kid to play.”

In an instant, the man threw Illian on the floor.

As Illian rolled helplessly to the floor, Rosena screamed Illian’s name.

“Illian!!”

Even with Rosena’s desperate voice, no one helped.

Everyone was busy walking away from the scene because they were worried that they might get caught up.

Rosena approached Illian, who fell to the floor.

As she approached Illian, they each held both of Rosena’s arms.

“Come on, let’s have some fun in a quiet place.”

They smacked their lips and grabbed Rosena.

Rosena tried to shrug them off with all her might, but couldn’t shake off the bulky men.

Rosena, who began to be dragged into the alley, gasped heavily.

Illian’s appearance gradually faded away from her grayish vision.

‘Please, anyone…!!’

It was the moment when tears of despair flowed down her cheeks.

Loud sound of hooves passed by her ears.

The men who were dragging Rosena also paused to the growing sound.

With a blurry vision, Rosena looked at the horses running against the sun.

They were ridden by knights in navy uniforms and red capes that fluttered in the wind.

As the knights approached, the men’s faces turned white.

They floundered, yet not even thinking of letting Rosena go.

Knights running from afar quickly surrounded Rosena and the men.

The knights pulled their swords out in unison and thrusted them toward the men’s throats.

“We, we didn’t do anything….!”

“Pl, please let me live…”

The men stuttered and begged for forgiveness.

Rosena quickly pushed the men away as the strength gripping her arm weakened.

As soon as Rosena got up, she instinctively went to where Illian had fallen.

The knights turned slightly, and Rosena stumbled to Illian and sank down.

Then she stretched out her arms and raised Illian in her arms.

It was not until she hugged the child that she felt relieved.

Rosena, who wiped the tears off the back of her hand, thought she’d leave quickly before she was taken to the checkpoint with them.

It was at that moment. From afar, powerful hooves were clearly heard.

At the sound that penetrates the ears, the knights surrounding the men stepped aside in unison and cleared the way.

Rosena looked at the horse that was getting closer to her through her open vision.

The sleek black horse with glossy fur was rushing her way without hesitation.

Rosena looked up very slowly.

Unable to open her eyes to the blazing sun, a big shadow was cast over Rosena.

When the light was obscured, Rosena barely opened her eyes.

Then she saw a man riding a horse with his back against the strong sunlight.

Rosena looked up at him blankly.

Blond hair like the burning sun, white face like the snow, strong hands holding the reins.

It was Yerhan.
