Chapter 34

After the wedding ceremony of the third prince, which caused a lot of rumors, there was no breathing sound heard in the Empress Palace.

The Empress Palace, considered the second biggest palace after the Emperor Palace, boasted magnificence that overwhelmed people, yet the inside was filled with cold silence.

In the deep inner bathroom of the palace, there was a bathtub large enough for dozens of people.

Tersia undressed herself after asking all the maids to return.

The dark navy dress fell down, and she stretched her white feet into the bathtub.

It was creepily cold water, but Tersia didn’t budge even an eyebrow.

As she headed into the bathtub, a wave broke out in the calm water.

Tersia sinked into the bathtub and leaned her head back.

Every time she lost her composure, she took a cold bath.

It was something that she only did whenever she became extremely nervous like when she failed to conceive a successor, but now it has become a habit.

“What a bitch.”

Tersia’s voice rang in the quiet bathroom.

The girl Yerhan brought as a wife was a humble bitch of the fallen family.

Her family was a fallen count who had nothing, and her mother and sister were vulgar.

It wasn’t bad as Yerhan’s mate because it was a family that couldn’t raise his power, but that wasn’t the problem.

Until now, Yerhan had lived quietly as if he had not joined the imperial family.

There were far more days that he was away from the empire and left the Imperial Palace to fight monsters.

Thanks to that, all sorts of rumors were circulating, and Tersia supported them.

She thought that the more Yerhan’s reputation fell, the less it would be a threat for her as the empress.

However, Yerhan began to change from a month ago.

The palace that had been unattended until now was repaired and he appeared in front of people.

Additionally, through this wedding, the rumors surrounding him were cleared.

It was all because of that woman.

Tersia became nervous. She was worried that Yerhan would strengthen his position with this opportunity.

At this rate, the most important secret might be revealed to others.

Yerhan was a substitute for the crown prince.

If such a person stood out, It was something that might raise doubts.

Tersia bit her lips hard. She bit so hard that her lips burst that it tasted like fishy iron.

She took a deep breath to regain her composure and swept up her wet hair.

For a moment, the wedding that happened a few days ago came to her mind.

At that point, it was not inferior compared to a wedding for the crown prince.

How on earth?

So far, Yerhan had not received any support from the imperial family.

All he received was the knights guild to fight monsters.

She suspected that the emperor secretly helped Yerhan.

However, if he had provided funds amounting to that much, it would come out no matter how much he hid it.

If so, it means that he secretly made money behind the scenes…..

Tersia squinted. Tersia, out of cold water, put on a gown.

Until now, he was useful so she left him alone, but it was right to deal with a dog who did not know its place.

Entering the Emperor Palace, Rosena, Yerhan, and Illian were guided by his servant and they headed inside.

The Emperor Palace was magnificent, but there was an invisible pressure, a strong feeling that crushes people.

Walking down the hall and deep into the palace, there was a splendidly decorated drawing room.

The Emperor and the Empress soon entered while they were sitting in rows on a long sofa.

Rosena and Yerhan greeted them with respect.

“Sit down.”

Emperor Barmun spoke in an indifferent voice.

Rosena, seated, looked up and saw the emperor.

Bright blonde hair and blue eyes symbolizing the imperial family were the first that her eyes caught.

The first impression was that Yerhan looked so much like the emperor.

However, after a closer look, she realized that the two had no similarities other than their appearances.

Such as the eyes of the emperor who had lost his light, or the attitude of not hiding the pressure of suppressing his opponent.

“Is he your child?”

The emperor’s eyes met with Illian.

When Illian flinched, Rosena reflexively wrapped her arm around his shoulder.

She felt like she was showing her child to a hungry carnivore.

“Yes, it’s my child with her.”

Yerhan spoke on behalf of Rosena.

The Emperor glanced at Illian. A faint interest passed through his eyes.

“Illian, say hello.”

“He, Hel…. lo…”

The emperor’s interest quickly cooled down by the stuttering greeting.

“That’s terrible.”

Rosena bit her lip in a cold-hearted remark, as if valuing an object.

His skill at talking was late and naive, but he is a pretty kid to her.

She didn’t want to let Illian hear this in person.

But there was nothing Rosena could do.

Since then, only dry words have been exchanged between the emperor and Yerhan.

The emperor seemed less interested in Yerhan than others.

Yerhan was also not a friendly person, so their conversation didn’t last long.

Then the empress, who was sitting like a doll, opened her mouth for the first time.

“Your Majesty, I’ll take the Princess with me for a moment. May I go out?”

Everyone in the drawing room looked at the empress at the same time.

“We need time to talk to each other.”

Then the empress smiled calmly and asked for permission from the emperor.

Rosena, who was sitting opposite her, scrutinized the empress’s face.

She tried to figure out what she meant by asking for a private meeting.

The first and last time she met her was at the reception.

“Go ahead.”

When the emperor allowed, Rosena quickly looked at Yerhan.

Yerhan’s face, whose expression hadn’t changed no matter what the Emperor said, slightly hardened.

Rosena laid her hand lightly on the back of his hand.

He looked uncomfortable with it, but he sat still after understanding Rosena’s will.

“Let’s get going.”

The empress rose first, and Rosena, who bowed to the emperor, followed the empress.

There was another drawing room not far from the drawing room where she had just stayed.

Perhaps because there were fewer fancy furniture, it felt a bit calmer than there.

As soon as Rosena sat down, a teacup of warm tea was placed in front of her.

As the maid who put down the tea stepped back, the empress lifted her chin slightly and opened her mouth.

“Will you be my person?”

Rosena blinked, wondering if she had misheard.

The empress continued, glancing through such a Rosena.

“I will give you honor and wealth that you have never encountered before.”

The empress offered a seemingly sweet offer akin to a poisoned apple.

However, even a small child knows that it will not be given for free.

There must have been a reason for her to change her attitude.

Rosena, who was sitting silently, opened her mouth for the first time.

“What do you want from me?”

“It’s good that we can communicate quickly.”

Her eyes touched Rosena with the sound of a teacup being placed on a plate.

“Keep an eye on the third prince.”

“….!”

Rosena was surprised and almost got up from her seat unconsciously.

Keep an eye on Yerhan, doesn’t that mean to be a spy?

“If there’s anything suspicious, you can say anything. If you report every little detail, I’ll give you the right reward.”

“…Reward?”

“Whatever you want.”

Rosena was silent.

If it was in the past, she might have been shaken.

But now Rosena couldn’t sell him off to fulfill her selfishness.

The identity of the emotion soaring up in tears could not be clearly defined, but she may have become attached to him for a short time.

Rosena looked directly at the empress.

No matter how much the empress hated Yerhan, an illegitimate child, Rosena never imagined she would make such an offer to her.

Unexpectedly, the empress was wary of Yerhan.

Even if she took away everything Yerhan had, she was unlikely to be satisfied.

Rosena opened her mouth, determined to handle the storm after rejecting the offer.

“I don’t want to be a shameful mother to my child.”

At Rosena’s words, the empress’ fingers stopped before lifting the teacup.

Rosena spoke calmly and without shaking.

“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear you.”

The empress, who had been silent for a while, grinned.

“So, that’s your answer.”

The empress flicked her finger. Then the maid standing in the back approached.

The empress turned her head toward Rosena without saying a word.

Rosena looked at the maid approaching her.

“!”

Slap!

Rosena’s head turned sideways with a throbbing sound.

Her cheek turned red and at the same time, her eyes flashed white.

While Rosena was in a daze, the empress picked up the teacup and whispered,

“This is my answer.”
