Rosena’s outing turned the Prince Palace upside down.

As soon as they arrived at the palace, servants rushed out to meet Rosena.

Even the knights, drenched in rainwater, looked somewhat relieved at that time.

Illian, who was alone and resolute, must have been shocked by the fact that Rosena had disappeared, and as soon as he saw Rosena’s face, he clung to her and didn’t let go even until his clothes got wet.

Rosena had to gather them all together and explain.

She didn’t know how the brief outing became a runaway commotion, but she had to take responsibility for coming back late.

The next day, Rosena failed as she tried to raise her body that felt as heavy as wet cotton.

She tried to get up again and again, but it felt as if the bed was forcibly pulling her body back down.

Rosena blinked with a dazed face.

“Why is the ceiling spinning…?”

The patterns on the ceiling were divided into several parts and then merged repeatedly.

“Ah?”

Hot breaths flowed out along with a hoarse voice.

She tried to move a little, but she couldn’t even move a single finger.

It must have been because it rained too much yesterday.

It wasn’t cold yet because it was between late summer and early autumn, but she could catch a cold because she was walking around with a wet body.

She couldn’t believe that she caught a cold because she was meddling with someone standing in the alley yesterday…..

Rosena sighed, feeling pitiful for herself. Now, there were only a few days left before the Founding Day, but she had not been able to properly take care of her body.

Rosena coughed out and closed her eyes. She fell asleep again and she woke up to the sound of knocking on her door.

“Mom?”

It was Illian’s voice. Rosena, in her dreary state, could barely answer. Even if she could answer, she didn’t know what to say.

Then the door opened carefully. Illian, who was holding the door handle, came up to her.

Looking at Rosena still lying on her bed, Illian sat down by the bedside. Illian asked with a worried voice.

“Mom, are you sick?”

“…Illian, get out.”

Rosena barely let out her cracked voice. She was fine with everything else, but she hated the possibility of passing her cold on to Illian.

Because he was still a weak child, he would be ill for a long time if he caught a cold.

“Ugh…”

As Illian procrastinated and refused to leave, Rosena somehow got up.

“You’re going to catch a cold.”

“That’s okay……”

Rosena coughed.

“No. Mom will get better soon and play with you.”

As Rosena decisively pushed him, Illian hesitated before finally nodding his head.

Illian left the room and Rosena laid back on the bed.

She needed to take some medicine, but she was so sick that she didn’t want to do anything.

In addition, most of the servants were on vacation today for the upcoming construction work.

Rosena thought she should get up after she rested a bit, but she fell asleep again.

***

When it was noon, Yerhan heard a report that Rosena had not left her room, and he immediately returned to the palace.

Ella, Rosena’s attendant, who wandered out of the bedroom as if she was worried, found Yerhan and immediately bowed her head.

“What about her?”

“Her Highness has been staying in her bedroom since this morning.”

Yerhan heard from her about what happened today. She said Rosena didn’t come out of the bedroom even though it was time for her to wake up.

Ella even cried, saying that she skipped lunch and only answered she was okay when she called her.

As her attendant, she was stomping her feet at the door because she couldn’t go against Rosena’s words.

Yerhan heard what she had to say and immediately knocked on the bedroom door. Then, though it had been a while, no answer came from the inside.

“Rosena, may I come in?”

He waited a while for an answer to come.

When no answer came, Yerhan immediately opened the door. As he entered the bedroom, he saw Rosena lying flat on the bed.

Her face, buried in the blanket, was red today.

Rosena, who had her eyes closed, raised her body when she heard a sound.

“…I didn’t hear it. I’m sorry.”

Yerhan’s eyebrows narrowed at the hoarse voice. He remembered that Rosena got rained a lot yesterday.

“Did you perhaps catch a cold?”

Rosena nodded her head slowly.

Rosena pulled up her quilt and tucked her body into the edge of the bed as if building a wall with Yerhan.

“If I get some more sleep, I will be fine.”

Rosena’s muffled voice grew smaller and smaller.

Rosena was afraid if her cold would pass on to Yerhan, so she ordered,

“I’m sorry, but please leave.”

But Yerhan did not move. He looked down at Rosena and opened his mouth slowly.

“Does it hurt?”

“…I’m used to pain.”

For the first time, Yerhan was angry at Rosena’s answer.

“Don’t be stupid.”

“….”

“There wouldn’t be someone who’s used to being sick.”

This was the first time Yerhan had raised his voice like that, so Rosena blinked in surprise.

“I will not listen to you today.”

Yerhan walked all the way towards the bed and slumped onto the chair. Then he immediately reached out and placed his hand on Rosena’s forehead.

As his large, cool palm touched, Rosena narrowed her eyes like a cat. When something cool touched her, she seemed happy.

“You have a severe fever.”

Yerhan, who removed his hand, looked down at Rosena with seriousness.

“Did you take any medicine?”

“…..”

When Rosena did not answer, Yerhan sighed.

“I heard you skipped lunch too.”

Instead of answering, Rosena only blinked. She wanted to say something, but she felt dizzy again from the headache and fever.

“Please close your eyes.”

Yerhan wiped Rosena’s forehead and immediately went into the bathroom.

He soaked a towel in cold water and squeezed the water out. As he put the towel on Rosena’s fireball-like forehead, she looked slightly relieved.

Yerhan, who came out immediately, called Ella and told her to bring a doctor. He hurried to the dining room, as Rosena had to eat before taking the medicine.

As he went down the stairs, Yerhan’s expression worsened.

It was heartbreaking to see Rosena draw a line while she was ill, but he blamed himself for leaving her in the rain yesterday.

He should’ve asked her to wait under the roof in front of the store and called for the carriage himself…

He couldn’t do it because he was in a hurry.

Yerhan sighed and opened the dining room.

***

After lying down for a long time, Rosena ate in the midst of a frenzy.

When she ate the warm stew, her empty stomach was filled.

By the time she somehow emptied a bowl of stew, the doctor came to the Prince Palace.

The doctor examined Rosena and put down a bunch of medicine for her to take.

Meanwhile Yerhan did not leave Rosena’s side.

He kept asking if there was anything uncomfortable, and changed the wet towel.

Rosena stared at his face through blurred vision. This reminded her of her father.

As a child, Rosena often caught a cold when she got rained on. Her father was busy, but he made time for Rosena who was sick and stayed by her side.

At that time, the mere fact that she had someone by her side gave her a lot of strength. She didn’t know how sad she felt whenever she was alone after her father passed away.

Her eyes closed in a blink of an eye. Perhaps because of the medicine, she felt more comfortable and sleepiness washed over.

Rosena whispered to Yerhan, who was sitting by her bedside.

“…Thank you.”

Upon hearing those words, Yerhan loosened his stiff forehead. His usual expressionless face seemed to have subsided, likely because he was very worried.

“Please get well soon.”

Rosena fell asleep softly with his muttering.

***

How long did she sleep like that? Rosena slowly opened her eyes.

After a good night’s sleep, her body, which had been heavy, became lighter.

She looked out of the window, lifting her blanket. It was still raining and dark outside. It was raining all these days, and suddenly autumn came.

“Ah…”

Although the fever had gone down, her sore throat had not healed yet. She hoped she’d at least be healed before the founding festival.

“…..”

Rosena picked up a wet towel that fell by the pillow. This damp towel seemed to have been changed at least a couple of hours ago.

Did Yerhan stay with her until then?

Rosena held the wet towel. Her fingertips were hot as if she had a fever again.

“Your Highness.”

Ella called for Rosena from outside. Rosena got up, completely out of her bed, and put on her clothes. Then she heard Ella’s voice from outside again.

“You have a guest.”

“A guest?”

There was no mention of a guest coming…

Rosenq tilted her head and opened the door.

“Who….”

The moment she raised her head, Rosena couldn’t continue her words any longer.

The person standing next to Ella was Crown Prince Zigrit.

“I heard you are sick.”

Zigrit handed a bouquet of flowers with a gentle smile.

Rosena wrapped a hand around her throbbing head again.

How the hell did he come to know that she was sick?

No, before that, they weren’t even close enough for him to come to her palace.

Rosena glanced at Ella. Then Ella bowed her head down with a restless face.

Apparently, even though she refused, he’d come in regardless.

“I didn’t know you would come so suddenly.”

Despite Rosena’s sharp remarks, Zigrit still had a smile on his face.

“Are you here to deliver this?”

Rosena asked, with her expression saying that he should go if he was done with his errands. Unfortunately, Zigrit’s business was not over.

“I stopped by because I had something to say to you. Is he not here now?”

“…He must have been away for a while.”

Zigrit said bluntly as if it was going well.

“Would you mind serving me a cup of tea?”

“I feel sick and it seems to be difficult.”

Even though Rosena turned him down, Zigrit did not back down.

“Then, please spare me a moment.”

There were no more excuses that she could use to refuse. Rosena understood, and while answering, she blinked at Ella at the same time.

When Ella noticed that Rosena was requesting for Yerhan to be called, Ella immediately left the place.

As Ella turned, Rosena tucked her clothes tight and headed for the drawing room.

Sitting face to face in the drawing room, Rosena felt like she was sitting on a thorny cushion.

No matter how hard it was, she never thought she would face a burdensome opponent at the Third Prince Palace.

After a moment of silence, Zigrit asked.

“Have you thought about it?”

“What do you mean?”

“About what I said last time.”

Rosena paused. If it was the last time, it seemed to be referring to the time they met outside the Imperial Palace.

And at that time, Zigrit said that Yerhan was marrying her because he needed Rosena’s power.

“I couldn’t believe Your Highness’ words.”

At Rosena’s sharp reply, Zigrit laughed.

“Actually, I have one more present.”

He held out a small box on the table.

“It’s a medicine.”

“….?”

“Eat just one pill, and the fever will drop and the cough will stop.”

If it was true, it was a drug with great efficacy.

She looked up at him with her face expressing that she had no idea why he was giving her this great thing.

“This is a drug that even Yerhan cannot get, no matter how much money he pays.”

Zigrit showed his true feelings by handing over the medicine to Rosena.

“If you were next to me, you would certainly enjoy it.”

“….”

Zigrit’s words right now were misleading enough.

He glanced at Rosena. His blue eyes as clear as glass grains were filled with Rosena.

Rosena flinched as she caught his gaze.

She felt bad whenever she was facing him. She felt goosebump chills. It was as if she was walking into a snake’s mouth.

He pulled out the chair and walked over to Rosena’s side.

“Don’t you have any greed?”

Zigrit whispered softly like a snake teasing its tongue.

“You can enjoy a splendid life that cannot be compared to your current one. A life supported by everyone. You can put anyone under your feet.”

“….”

When Rosena didn’t say anything, Zigrit’s eyes widened.

“You’re not thinking that Yerhan loves you, are you?”

Rosena’s eyelashes shook.

“If you think so, don’t be fooled. The reason he keeps you by his side is only because of the power of divinity.”

Seeing her face turned white, Zigrit smiled inwardly.

“Yerhan would have been kicked out of the imperial family without the power of the divinity. That is why he is so good to you.”

Hearing his whispers, Rosena clenched her fists. As her fingernails dug into her palms, she felt the pain.

Rosena, barely coming to her senses by the sharp pain, asked coldly.

“Your Highness, why are you talking to me like that?”

“Because of this.”

Zigrit smiled and stretched out his hand. His large hand held Rosena’s hand.

“Because you are the perfect Crown Princess candidate.”

“Now, what…!”

As Rosena was about to shake off his hand, she heard the loud sound of the door opening.

Someone strode into the drawing room. Then, at the same time, he flung Zigrit’s hand off and pulled Rosena.

“What are you doing now?”

Rosena came to her senses at a growling voice. The man who embraced her was Yerhan.

“Don’t you think it’s rude, visiting without a word?”

Despite the criticism, Zigrit did not budge. Rather, he frowned slightly at the fact that he was disturbed.

“You’re acting like I’m doing something.”

“I came before you could do something.”

After lifting Rosena up, Yerhan made her stand behind him. It was as if he didn’t want to keep Rosena in Zigrit’s sight for even a single moment.

Zigrit grinned and tilted his head.

“I just came to visit her.”

“Is it a visit if you touch someone else’s wife?”

Yerhan’s sharp gaze touched Zigrit’s fingers.

Seeing that he wanted to cut off all of those fingers, Zigrit slowly got up from his seat.

“She is a woman beyond your means. You have nothing to offer, yet you are greedy.”

Yehan’s eyes flickered briefly. At that moment, Rosena, who had been hiding behind Yerhan, stepped forward.

“Don’t insult my husband in front of me.”

Rosena’s eyes turned to Zigrit. Rosena, bearing a resolute gaze, said firmly.

“Your Highness, you are very arrogant..”

 “….”

“No matter what happens, I will never become Your Highness’ person.”

The arrogant expression on Zigrit’s face disappeared. An eerie aura came over, but Rosena came to her senses and pointed at the door.

“Please get out.”

Zigrit had no intention of arguing with Rosena, so he quietly headed towards the door.

He grabbed the doorknob and turned around.

“Not everything goes the way you want it to.”

Rosena didn’t answer.

“Then, take good care of yourself until the Founding Day.”

The sound of the door closing resounded quietly.

Yerhan, who was staring at the door, immediately asked Rosena.

“Where did that bastard touch?”

“…My hand, just a little…”

When Rosena suddenly answered, Yerhan’s face went dark in an instant. It was the first time she saw it since the day she was slapped on the cheek.

Yerhan sighed loudly and stretched out his hand. Then he carefully took Rosena’s hand.

All the unpleasant sensations were gone, and she felt his pulse that rolled from his fingertips.

“I’m sorry that you’re going through this. Please wait a little longer.”

Yerhan whispered, putting some more strength into their clasped hands.

“It will be sorted out soon.”
