The divinity ceremony was held in a place where all the nobles above the rank of count had gathered.

Countless nobles were already standing on either side of the altar, waiting.

Rosena looked around and found Rania and Macella.

A man was standing next to Rania. He was an ordinary-looking man, but he dressed neatly.

Rosena realized that the man was the current Count Estarot.

Slowly, she took her eyes off and walked forward, and the attendant suddenly popped out.

“I’ll take care of the prince.”

“For what reason?”

Rosena asked, holding Illian’s hand tightly.

“It’s because the power of the divinity is incomplete for those who are not yet of age. We’ll protect the prince, because he may be affected by the ritual.”

How great is this ceremony to have to go this far?

Apparently, the children of the second prince were also standing with the other attendants.

Rosena felt uncomfortable, but was forced to nod.

“I’ll see you in a little while.”

Illian nodded at Rosena’s whisper. She was a little worried, but she was relieved that Illian was brave.

Rosena and Yerhan stood side by side and looked up at the altar.

She wondered if, in the past, she could ever have thought this would happen. Originally, she would have watched the ceremony among the nobles, but now she was attending as a member of the imperial family.

As the emperor climbed on the golden carpet, the surroundings quickly became solemn.

The emperor, who was moving forward without hesitation, strode up to the altar.

Standing on the top of the altar, the emperor unfolded the paper he was holding in his hand. It was a preface to read before the ceremony.

While he read the preface, Rosena stared at the altar.

A strange energy swept through Rosena. Like a person who found what she had been looking for, Rosena couldn’t take her eyes off the altar.

There was a large bowl made of gold on the altar. But there was no indication of what was in it.

Rosena whispered quietly, only to Yerhan.

“What’s in that bowl?”

“It is water that was drawn from the spring of the divinity. It was originally a large spring, but I heard it shrank over the years, so they scooped up the water and put it in a bowl.”

When listening to Yerhan’s explanation, Rosena’s eyes followed the emperor.

The emperor read all the preface and stood in front of a large bowl containing spring water.

As he dipped his hands into the bowl, the bowl began to clatter softly and the droplets sprang up.

A small burst of admiration erupted among the nobles who stood solemnly.

The pale blue energy hovered near the emperor and subsided again.

The bowl quickly calmed down as if it had never shook.

Rosena looked at it in disbelief. It was very strange because it was so bizarre.

“…I heard that it only responds to divine power. It’s my first time seeing it in person.”

It was obviously a mysterious scene, but Yerhan’s expression gradually subsided. It was a feeling bordering on hatred.

He didn’t like the power of divinity. He didn’t want to realize that he is a member of the imperial family again, or that he really felt like he wasn’t human whenever he felt the power.

The power to destroy himself without being able to control it was useless.

As the emperor came down, the crown prince, who was waiting underneath, slowly stepped up the stairs.

The crown prince, who received everyone’s attention, stood on the altar. The sun above his head shone brilliantly on him.

Crown Prince Zigrit reached into the bowl.

Then the bowl shook significantly, and more droplets began to pop up than before.

Water overflowed out of the fluctuating bowl. The blue energy visible to the naked eye enveloped him like a garment.

The nobles watching it swallowed their breath. It was a force that was incomparable to previous years.

Zigrit inherited more of the divinity’s power than the other imperial family members. However, it was not to this extent.

Zigrit raised his hand with a satisfied face. As he turned around, the nobles gave him an ardent look.

The empress also had a very light smile accompanying her relieved face.

As Zigrit descended, the second prince’s turn came.

Rosena was able to see the second prince properly for the first time.

Unlike the colorful Asilia, the second prince gave off a humble feeling. Light seemed to fade even though he had blond hair, a symbol of the imperial family.

He had no intimidating or overwhelming aura, but his gentle impression gave him the feeling of a scholar.

When the second prince climbed to the altar, there was a weaker reaction than the emperor.

When compared sharply with the crown prince, Asilia’s face was distorted. She clenched her fists and just stared straight at the altar.

The last one was Yerhan. Yerhan stood up, expressionless, and looked at Rosena.

“See you later.”

Rosena’s little whisper loosened his stiff face.

Yerhan strode up the stairs, straightening his back.

Standing on the altar, Yerhan looked down at the large round bowl.

His face was reflected in the clear water. No, that figure wasn’t the real Yerhan.

It was him with narrowed pupils and darkened eyes.

Yerhan, who saw it, tried to take a step back. But his fingers already touched the cold water.

The bowl of water began to shake like crazy. The water, which filled only up to half-bowl, began to swell like a flooded river.

The water in the bowl overflowed, and the altar began to be soaked, and the fluctuating drops of water soared into the sky.

Before the ceremony, Illian was separated from Rosena by an attendant.

It was because princes were still young and could be affected because their strength was incomplete.

Illian stood at the entrance of the door along with the attendant. He could watch the ceremony, but he had to stay as far away as possible.

Another attendant brought the other children. The two children were the children of the second prince couple, a boy and a girl.

As the three children gathered, the attendant bent his knees and said,

“Please stay calm here. I’ll be right back.”

The brother and sister didn’t nod and acted arrogantly.

The attendant, who was familiar with such behavior, left right away.

When there were only children left without an adult, the brother and sister turned to the Illian’s side.

The boy looked about three or four years older than Illian, and the girl seemed to be of Illian age.

The two children looked briefly surprised at Illian’s face.

They thought that Illian, who had plump cheeks and big eyes, was lovely even just by a glance.

As the girl looked at him for a moment, a boy who appeared to be her brother stabbed her in the ribs.

Then the boy stood tall in front of Illian, swaggering as much as he could.

“I heard you are a fool. I heard it from my mother.”

Illian’s eyebrows were slightly bent by the defiant remarks after a long time.

When Illian didn’t answer, the boy was elated. Then he pulled a short wooden sword out of his waist. The end of a wooden sword made of high-quality wood was studded with jewels.

“I got it as a birthday present.”

The boy made fun of Illian with the way he spoke, as if he said ‘You don’t have this, do you?’.

Illian sighed deeply because he wasn’t worth dealing with. He thought the kids in Astania were better at picking a fight.

When Illian didn’t respond, the boy crumpled his face.

“They said your family is poor!”

Poor? Illian was lost in thought for a moment. But he had never been in trouble with money.

Although the Third Prince Palace was smaller than other palaces, it was much larger and better than the houses that he lived in Astania.

The garden was beautiful, and delicious snacks were served regularly. By Illian’s standard, the Third Prince Palace was very wealthy.

“No, we’re not.”

“Don’t lie. My mom said the Third Prince Palace is terrible.”

The boy pushed Illian. Illian looked at the boy in a dismissive gaze.

The boy flinched for a moment and tried to say something again. Meanwhile, the emperor’s speech ended.

As the emperor approached the bowl on the altar, the bowl began to react. The water in the bowl reacted as much as the strength of divinity in his body.

The three children stared at it for a moment at the odd scene.

When the emperor finished the ceremony, the boy spoke triumphantly.

“I bet your father can’t do anything. He couldn’t have inherited the power of divinity because he’s an illegitimate child!”

Illian responded for the first time. The red eyes resembling Rosena flared.

If it was in the past, he would have told him he did a good thing and asked him to swear more. But now it was unpleasant to hear others speak ill of Yerhan.

Illian agonized for a moment. This little boy could win with his tongue, not his fists. As he thought about how to make him cry secretly, the crown prince climbed to the altar.

As the crown prince reached out, the bowl shook violently.

The scene of water droplets soaring in unison was a spectacular sight nowhere to be seen.

“Wow.”

The brother and sister were absolutely mesmerized. Illian, in particular, clenched his fist. His pounding heart was about to burst.

The crown prince went down and the second prince climbed up.

“Look carefully!”

The boy looked up at the second prince with sparkling eyes.

The second prince, the father of this pair of siblings, did not look much like the children. There was a strong sense of simplicity, unlike the rest of the imperial family.

When he went up to the altar, droplets of water jumped from the bowl.

The boy’s face was flushed with insignificant response. The reaction was insignificant compared to the crown prince who had a ritual earlier.

Illian asked with his arms crossed.

“What am I supposed to look at?”

The boy crumpled his face upon Illian’s question.

“Your dad won’t be able to do that either.”

Finally, Yerhan began to climb the stairs. Illian stared at Yerhan’s back.

He was usually mean, but now he was more handsome than anyone else Illian had ever seen.

And it was the moment he reached the altar completely.

Even from a distance, the water bowl shook greatly, and the water began to overflow under the altar.

The sky, which could only be described as sunny, was briefly dyed black and then cleared up. Along with him, countless drops of water soared into the sky.

At the same time as the brother and sister’s mouths opened, the drops of water began to pour like rain.

Illian, who was watching the scene, looked at the boy and said,

“Did you see that? That’s my dad.”

***

As the downpour fell, the divinity ceremony ended in a hurry.

The drenched nobles shook off the water and talked about what had just happened.

The spring water reacted in proportion to the power of the performer.

Obviously, the crown prince was great, but Yerhan was so strong that everything that had happened before was forgotten.

People knew Yerhan had little divine power. But what he showed today was a frighteningly enormous power.

The nobles were in a state of excitement. Each offered his or her own opinion on how this happened.

“The truth is, doesn’t the third prince have great power?”

“It’s absurd. Then he wouldn’t have lived in hiding until now.”

“But didn’t you just see it?”

Someone spoke up when everyone was arguing.

“It’s just clear evidence that something ominous is about to happen.”

In that one sentence, everyone shut their mouths and looked at the source of the voice. He is the empress’ father, the Duke of Eloa.

The duke looked around with a stiff face. Only when the agitated nobles focused their attention on him, did he open his mouth again.

“The divinity was angry when the unjustified person came to the altar.”

Once again, the nobles roared. From what Duke Eloa said, it seemed to be that way.

This had never happened before, so they couldn’t tell what was right.

The nobles began to turn around one by one with uncomfortable faces.

Watching them leave, Duke Eloa belatedly discovered the empress.

The empress stood tall with a pale face. Her hair and clothes were ruined by the rain, but she didn’t move.

Duke Eloa approached the empress, and clicked his tongue.

“Your Majesty, Empress.”

The empress slowly turned her head at the call of the Duke of Eloa. Anxiety passed through the eyes of the empress, who was briefly absentminded.

The empress whispered quietly so that only the duke could hear it.

“How is it going?”

“…Don’t be too nervous about this.”

The Duke of Eloa spoke decisively.

“The foolish nobles didn’t know what was going on anyway.”

“Even if he runs around a little now, we will get rid of him soon.”

Only then did the empress look a little better at the last word. As the duke said, they could get rid of that ugly face in a little while.

That was why she did not object much when Yerhan said he would attend the Foundation Day this time.

“I trust father.”

The empress turned around and left with the servants. As he watched it, Duke Eloa looked around.

He was going to be busy until tomorrow’s banquet.

***

The ceremony ended in a hurry, and the family of the third prince hurried back to the palace.

It was because all three of them were soaked by the sudden rain.

Especially, Rosena had to be more careful because she had a cold not too long ago and had just recovered.

As soon as they arrived at the palace, Yerhan ordered the servant to bring a towel.

After receiving the towel, he wrapped it around Rosena’s body and then put the other over Illian’s body as well. Meanwhile, he didn’t say anything.

Rosena looked at Yerhan’s hand, the one that was holding a wet towel. A slightly shaky hand seemed to drop the towel at any moment.

The nanny came out and went in to wash Illian, then Rosena and Yerhan returned to their bedroom.

Rosena wiped her wet hair thoroughly and undressed. Meanwhile, Yerhan was standing still.

Rosena, dressed in thin clothes, quietly approached him.

“Are you going to stay like that?”

When Rosena held out the towel, Yerhan’s gaze dropped down very slowly. But he hesitated and did not reach out.

Now Yerhan was reading Rosena’s countenance. It was as if he was afraid Rosena would treat him like a monster.

“…Aren’t you afraid of me?”

It took quite a long time to say those words. Rosena was silent for a moment.

In fact, when she saw the scene earlier, she thought that the power of divinity might really exist. It was like Yerhan called the rain

If the imperial family was indeed descendants of divinity, it meant that they were human, and yet not human.

All the words of the crown prince were treated as bullshit, but at least one was true.

That was why she was disturbed, rather than scared, of Yerhan. Anyway, he was exactly what Rosena knew. And Yerhan also accepted that she could talk to animals.

“I’m not scared.”

Yerhan slowly looked up at Rosena’s words. Perhaps he was very anxious because his eyes shook briefly.

“I’m just… a little surprised.”

Rosena clasped the towel and said,

“Please look down.”

Yerhan lowered his head slowly, like a tame beast.

Rosena brushed off his wet hair lightly with a towel. Maybe because she was close to his body, she smelled a faint smell.

-The only reason he keeps you around is because of the power of the divinity.

Once again, the crown prince’s words passed through her head.

“Rosena?”

When Rosena’s hand stopped, Yerhan called quietly.

Belatedly, Rosena began to move her hands with a calm face.

When no more drops of water fell, Rosena put down the towel and bit her lips.

Why do those words keep coming to mind?

“I’m going to go wash up first.”

Rosena finally hid her anxiety.
