Lucy ran out of the village of Acron and took a left.

"Oh hey it's Eve!" Players waved at her as they fought rabbits.

"Good luck guys!" She yelled in return.

"Oh oh now I'm psyched!"

She laughed and kept running.

A lonely rabbit in her path twitched, eyes crimson, fur white, and jumped towards her before hopping from the ground to strike her.

"Oh no you don't! I'm not dying twice from a rabbit!"

She drew her sword and slashed in one fluid motion while she kept up her pace. The blade of her weapon left the digital mark of data ripping upon the rabbit, and it fell in two divided halves, dying in one stroke, bursting into blue particles as she claimed a reward of 5 Gilds and 1 Rabbit Meat.

Her improved stats at level 5 had long since allowed her speed to overshadow a level 2 Frenzied Rabbit's attack animation. After all, she had placed her stats at a 60% speed to 40% strength ratio, and these Rabbits were meant only to be challenging to level 1 players with speed stats of 2 and no weapons.

Essentially, the only reason she accurately slashed it with her shoddy swordsmanship was that it was slow to her.

She entered the forest, weapon drawn as her foot found a mixture of dirt and shoddily growing grass. Her breathing, at this point, was rushed. Though increasing your speed stat also increased your stamina, so too did increasing your physical strength. Yet, you couldn't run forever in the game world. How it was calculated? No one knew.

She trekked under the tree leaves, sun shining, as she paced slowly, ears open for any sound. There was a crunch. She took her blade behind a trunk and poked her head out.

There, a boar was munching on grass amidst the canopy of plant life, making its own small space. It was rather large, bigger than any real-life boar she had ever seen—though only through pictures. In honest, its size was more like a small cow than any boar. Lucy calmed herself and gripped her weapon with both hands.

Its head was currently down, munching.

She dived from her location and leaped to action, shoes crunching upon soft grass as she ran to it. It noticed her presence, head raising in alarm as its body, large enough to be her match, began to turn.

Her speed, enough to reach it before it fully circled, carried her as her sword struck out, and she moved beside its body. Her blade traced a digital scar across its figure and its health-points—the green circle besides its yellow name and level of 7—dropped to 75%.

She stopped and spun around and slashed once more, dragging her blade down as its hp fell to 40%. A 'critical hit' triggered by a back attack. It wouldn't always proc, but the chance increased when an attack connected with an unaware enemy.

Lucy grinned until its hind-leg struck out.

"Drats!"

Her blade moved to catch its attack, but the brunt force struck her, sending her flying and she crashed against a tree with a thud, leaves shaking and falling. She blinked her eyes and focused just a bit. The attack power of the boar's kick was insane. Sure she didn't have any armor on, but she had a physical defense stat, yet her health had dropped to 60% in one hit.

She looked forward, recognizing that its name had now become a crimson red as it recognized her as an enemy.

She grinned, holding her weapon while firmly placing herself.

"Come at me you pig!"

It stomped on the ground then charged, sharp tusks blaring forward with a roar.

Lucy jumped out of the way, and it crashed against the tree. Its tusks stuck within the bark, she took that chance, readying her blade as it struggled to free itself.

As far as the beta-testers had found, Eclipse followed real-world physics with its own gaming spin. You could, quite literally, cut any monster with a blade. As long as you used a physical attack at least twice more than the physical defense of the enemy, and your execution connected and passed cleanly—while wielding a bladed weapon—you could chop limbs off of foes, weakening them.

"!" Lucy yelled just for the sake of it.

Her weapon shined and she struck down.

The sword connected as her blade passed through the neck of the creature, bisecting it. The boar stopped moving. Its head fell. Its hp circle dropped to 0% in an instant, and it exploded into particles.

[Boar killed!]
{Rewards: 25 exp, 25 Gild, 1 Boar Meat, 2 Boar Tusk}

[Congratulations! You gained 3 Souls!]

Naturally, the items appeared in her inventory. Next to the stack of 8 Rabbit Meat she owned. Supposedly, you could stack any item over itself till 100.

"Whew," She breathed out, sheathing her weapon and sitting down, cross-legged.

Her hp, the thing that said 'yup you're alive', was still at 60%. As this was the initial start of Eclipse, such things as health potions didn't exist yet, at least she hadn't seen them. So, Lucy could only wait and see what the regeneration rate in the game was.

". . .this game is evil."

In the end, checking the in-game clock, it took her 20 minutes to return to full health. In other words, the regeneration rate, after fully leaving combat and with no modifier, was 2% every minute or 1% every 30 seconds.

"Guess they want early combat to be carefully thought out," She grumbled.

Lucy assigned 2 Souls into her physical defense stat and the last into her physical strength, then began moving again at 2:30 pm.

The forest on her map was all but gray, so there was exploring to be done and more boars to be found. The place, though lit, was tight and almost claustrophobic. She supposed most players would only be able to fight comfortably one-on-one with a single opponent at a time. Quite a good design choice for a beginner's area. At this early stage, solo playing was the best way to learn and experience the game.
