nah ah

Tsuki came up to me and meowed at his feet, but once closed his eyes did not open again. If left as it is, he was in a state of being frozen to death, let alone fever.

"……I definitely wanted to go back to the carriage."

The black cat grunted, narrowing its pupils. Then, Estio stared at Neju, who was leaning on it.

"I told you to get rid of that stupid kid."

Whoops, whoops.

As soon as he finished saying those words, Tsuki gradually called out. Dark streaks appeared on her smooth black fur, and her slender torso thickened.

The slender tail and the green and yellow odd-eyes were still there, but in an instant, it changed into a form that could no longer be considered a cat.

Tsuki's body was a black tiger.

The black tiger with Odd-Eyes immediately rolled up its body and embraced Estio as if it were a cub.

"So it's all your fault that you're sick now, Estio."

Thanks to the warm black tiger's body temperature, his trembling stopped. Tsuki looked down at Estio, who fell asleep wrapped in his arms, and put his chin on his front paws.

purr.

"It's bad that you didn't listen to me."

The black tiger made a timid excuse. Its long tail wiggled softly.

No matter how he looked, he always seemed to care and watch over him.

Anyway, Tsuki was Estio's black cat.

Chapter 2 The Wrong Person, Another Person

Tsuki was born as an experiment by alchemists.

It was an artificial life created by mixing the blood of black tigers and the finest genetic factors collected from various places. The alchemists belonging to the Empire constantly researched to create the best creatures the imperial family wanted, but failed.

The goal of the imperial alchemists was to create a chimera with intelligence similar to that of a human, powerful combat power, and the ability to kill enemies with certainty.

Tsuki was born perfectly, meeting all the stats they demanded. His life activity was excellent, and it was possible to change his appearance according to convenience by taking advantage of the characteristics of various factors.

Its basic appearance was a black tiger with the most blood, and it was able to arbitrarily reduce its size and turn into a black cat.

However, Tsuki was ultimately a failure.

'The wildness that does not follow people is too strong.'

'No matter how good the performance, a test subject that is not tamed is useless.'

'N1251, test failed.'

An immediate disposal order was issued. The alchemists tried to kill Tsuki without delay.

But there was a problem. Tsuki's abilities were far higher than what they had designed. The clever black cat pretended to be meek, hiding his claws, then rebelled and escaped the lab.

As the experiment was conducted in secret, it was never allowed to take out the test object, so the alchemists mobilized all means to kill Tsuki.

In the end, they failed to recover Tsuki's body, but succeeded in inflicting fatal wounds that were certain to have resulted in death.

Desperately running away from the alchemy lab, Tsuki ran like crazy. The real soil he stepped on for the first time was covered in snow and cold, and the fresh air he breathed in his first breath was cold as if it would tear his lungs apart.

Tsuki, who was running and running with a fatal wound, did not lose strength in his legs until he reached a snow-covered mountain and collapsed. The world I came to live in was very cold and lonely.

"......it hurts......."

Tsuki cried. She tried to cry, but only a squeaking wind chirped from his nose. The freedom I so desperately wanted was painfully different from what I had imagined.

"I don't want to die. it hurts. it hurts. help me......."

please.

White snow fell on Tsuki's body, which had fallen into the form of a small black cat, not having the strength to maintain it. Snowflakes were constantly falling from the sky as if trying to cover up the black hair that was wet and dirty with blood.

Looking at the hazy sky and the snow falling endlessly, Tsuki filled his blue and yellow eyes with hot tears.

'It's all over.'

As I was thinking like that, I saw black hair that covered the sky.

'Black like me...'

For the first time in the world, a warm warmth touched Tsuki. The black cat was rescued from the cold snow.

In fact, it wasn't the white snow, it was pulled up from the very dark darkness.

Tsuki thought so.

'Estio.'

The only person who saved him.

The being who gave the discarded failed piece the name 'Tsuki'.

From that day on, Tsuki lingered around Estio. The subject, which was not tamed by humans, began following him like a duckling, marking the first person who had awakened from the egg as a mother.

It wasn't that he listened to Estio's orders or stuck with him all the time. But Tsuki was always hiding in an invisible corner and watching him. And whenever he saw danger or trouble, he would come to him and help.

As he saved himself.

So, Tsuki has been protecting Estio in his own way.

"Tsuki."

「……」

Tsuki's eyes twinkled at the only voice he responded and followed. He thought he was vigilant, but he seemed to have fallen asleep at some point.

Tsuki jumped up in surprise at the fact that he had fallen asleep peacefully. Because he was still maintaining the form of a black tiger, the bloody chirping of a tiger's throat came out of Tsuki's mouth.

grr.

"Thank you, Tsuki. Thanks to you, I had a good rest without being cold."

"...are you sick?"

"? It doesn't even hurt."

His face, which had been pale and tired with a fever before going to sleep, was cleared at some point. After checking Estio's health, Tsuki quickly returned his body to that of a cat.

Nyaan.

Tsuki, who turned into a cat and stretched flexibly, suddenly turned his gaze to the Yeti who was still standing behind Estio. Neju, a mixed race yeti with excellent self-renewal ability, had already disappeared as if it had washed away the wounds she had suffered yesterday.

Besides, it wasn't like Tsuki who could transform as freely as possible, but it was reduced in size by half from last night. As the body that used to only build houses became as small as a large human, it did not appear to be a menacing monster. It was because the muscles that had swelled up as the anger subsided had shrunk.

"〨."

「……」

The appearance was still roaring, but it was the cry of a baby monkey. Tsuki's odd-eye narrowed. Her upset cat's tail pounded on the floor.

Estio, who understood the rebellious cause, asked with a puzzled face.

"Why?"

"it."

"...You mean Neju?"

Kubu, Neju waved her long arms and cried again.

"How long are you going to wear it?"

"Ah."

Estio, who had been leaning on Neju's back as usual as he slept on his back, realized this belatedly, straightened himself up and turned towards Neju.

"It's been a while, but it's been quiet, so fortunately there are no more crowds chasing me."

Neju looked down at him with round red eyes. Although he is a hybrid of human and yeti, young Neju, who is closer to a yeti in characteristics, will be able to live alone in the snowy mountains without difficulty. Estio thought about it, then brushed Neju's hair once and said hello.

"Well then, Neju."

"! Estio!"

Even though he didn't read his mind, when he heard a voice calling out to him, Estio did not turn around and looked down at Neju again. Neju had learned to speak to some extent from her human mother, and although she was slurred, she was speaking aloud.

Tsuki, who didn't think Neju could only whine like a baby monkey, but didn't think he could talk, also raised his hair in a hurry.

"Let's go together."

"......Yes?"

"Neju, let's go together."

Unlike the method of conveying it directly in the head, the human language Neju uses was a strange way of speaking, not respectful or anything.

But I could understand the meaning.

"Are you saying you'll follow me?"

Instead of answering, Neju reached out a huge hand and touched Estio's head. The Yeti's hands, resembling monkeys, were covered with fluffy white fur.

Estio, who had stood still for a moment, was speechless, and slowly opened his mouth.

"I... I don't mind, but it could be dangerous."

"It's okay."

"I don't have the strength to protect you."

"What? Neju will protect you! Neju is strong!"

"I don't mean that..."

Estio took a deep breath. Well, looking back, it was funny that he was worried about someone going into his situation. Seeing his self-sacrificing smile, Neju looked at him with a gloomy look.

"There's no one here anymore. Neju, I don't want to be alone."

"I'm going to go to a city where there are a lot of people. Wouldn't you be angry or scared to see them?"

"......"

Neju blinked one big red eye. She and she whimpered for a while for a word she could describe in human terms, and then she sent out a wave of thought as strong as yesterday.

"When I see the enemy who killed my family, I might get angry. But I think other humans don't care."

The content passed from head to head was very clear, unlike the slurred tone of speech. Neju, who had conveyed her thoughts strongly, smirked as she revealed her fangs.

"Estio told me."

All he had done was to calm Neju's runaway emotions and simply speculate on the hunters' purpose.

But Neju rolled her docile eyes as if satisfied with that alone.

"...and someone else might be trying to kill you."

"Wow."

At those words, Neju pondered for a moment, then smiled, revealing her dense white teeth.

"Can I get angry then?"

Estio couldn't hold back any longer and came down from the mountain with Tsuki and Neju. In the place where the wagon stood, there was only snow with wheel marks, and no one could be seen.

Thanks to Estio, I was able to pass the road safely, but from the top position, I could not delay time waiting for him, who suddenly disappeared. Just by getting him to this place in the first place meant that Sang-dan had given him enough grace.

Of course, he was better off that way.

There were no fatalities, but it was Neju who ran wildly and attacked the top. It was clear that she would try to kill Neju if she ever met again. From his point of view, it was much more comfortable to walk like this without unnecessary disputes with the top.

Fortunately, we got a wagon and had traveled quite a distance, so we were able to get to a nearby city before evening.

The name of the city  <Galasia>.

Unlike the town of Selvia, where he was born and raised, it was a fairly large city with a large population and many large buildings, from nobles to commoners.

The floor was paved with three-colored stones, and there was a wide road where carriages passed and a narrow alley where only people passed.
