For a woman who had spent most of her life in the city, Tang Zhelan wasn't missing her life back at home at all. The days passed by in peace; she spent her mornings with Zhao Jing as the girl toured her around the town, while her afternoons were spent helping to attend to the guests of the inns.

She especially loved the tea shops along the canals and felt relatively cool under the canopy of trees. The narrow lanes and old architecture were reminders of how people lived in ancient times. The whole area was a maze, not to mention the food being offered at the Old Town was incredible.

The view from Lion Hill showed that the area was not as big as she had thought. But walking through the lanes, searching for particular shops or restaurants proved that it was justifiable being called a city.

How could she miss her life back in Shenzhen? Being here in Lijiang made her feel that she could be herself without worrying about what her family would think of her actions. For the first time in her life, Tang Zhelan felt that she was in charge.

Tang Zhelan had almost forgotten that she was on the run from her parents had she not read the news about the empress again, reminding her of her situation.

With the Tang Enterprise entering a partnership with the Xu Corporation, it only solidified Tang Moyu's ability to turn the tables in her favor, effectively saving their family business from the brink of bankruptcy.

She didn't know why, but Tang Zhelan felt someone was backing her cousin. It wasn't like Tang Moyu wasn't capable on her own, but Tang Zhelan felt that everything went too smoothly for the empress.

It shouldn't have taken her this fast to cripple the board and kick out the people causing problems within Tang Enterprise. The fact that Tang Moyu was able to secure her shares and authority at the company this early proved that someone extended a hand to her.

But who could it possibly be? She wondered. Tang Moyu was a person who valued her pride as a businesswoman and never entered a deal that could put her interest in jeopardy. Her cousin wasn't a person like that, Tang Zhelan was sure of it.

"Miss, are you worried that Tang Moyu will target you next?" Zhao Feng asked, seeing her expression as they saw the empress in the evening news, refusing to give a comment about the recent changes at Tang Enterprise.

"I'm not a threat to her right now." Tang Zhelan gave it a good thought. "So long as I don't offend her, there's no reason why she should come after me."

"But the previous projects...." Zhao Feng's words trailed off. He was worried that she would be implicated in those projects.

"It's my fault. I should have stopped those old fools and didn't given my approval to those projects." She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

Those old fools had been in their position even before she assumed her position in the management. It was already hard for her to change their ways as they were subtly threatening her with their words.

"It was Elder Tang who gave you the position. Should he be aware already of what's happening to the company?" Zhao Feng frowned, thinking that his Miss was being wronged yet again by her own family.

He knew it was a bad idea for his miss to accept the position in the company. Elder Tang was only using her to keep the authority of the company within the family. Now that he thought about it, perhaps the old man was just waiting for Tang Moyu's return to solve the company's problems.

"There's no point to dwell in the past, Zhao Feng. Whether Tang Moyu comes after me or not, I can only wait and see," Tang Zhelan replied. It was hard for her to know what her cousin was even thinking right now. It had been weeks since she filed lawsuits to the other members of the board, but why hadn't the empress come after her yet?

Their conversation was put into a halt when Zhao Jing joined them at the lounge area. The girl always made sure that she would accompany Tang Zhelan whenever she was at home and her uncle was busy tending to their guests, something Tang Zhelan was already used to.

"Miss Tang, the entrance looks good now with the new signage!" Zhao Jing had just returned home from school and had just seen the newly installed signage outside.

"Do you like it? Your Uncle Feng was the one who placed it there." Tang Zhelan smiled in return. Slowly, the inn was starting to look better as the guests constantly came and went. Most of the time, the inn was so full that they couldn't cater more guests that stopped by to check in.

"En! It looks good!" Zhao Jing beamed a smile to her uncle.

Ever since Tang Zhelan came, she noticed that not only their inn improved, her uncle's mood was also getting better. She also didn't miss how his Uncle smiled like a fool whenever someone asked him about Miss Tang.

Could it be that her uncle liked Miss Tang, but never had the courage to tell her? The girl wondered.

"You are spacing out. Is there a problem?" Tang Zhelan asked the girl.

Zhao Jing shook her head and smiled before taking a walnut bun in front of her. Now that she thought about it, she never saw her uncle being interested in other women before. Her Uncle Feng resigned from his work in the city to look after her and grandmother after her parents died. She knew well what her uncle gave up just to be with them today.
