Chapter 222 One Hit, One Kill

Xiang Ning scratched and looked at Six. He thought about it, then finally nodded his head. It would be easier if there were two people doing the operation.

Six was also almost as strong as Xiang Ning. He was only three years older and was already a tier three, four-star martial artist. Six’s talent was by no means weak. If everything went well, he should become a tier four martial artist by twenty-five years old, and a tier seven at around forty.

Li Yunfei finally agreed. Six also needed a chance to train and polish himself.

“Be careful and try to stick to the outer edges. If you encounter any danger the snipers will help you,” he cautioned.

“Understood.”

......

On the other side of the ruined city was a cave, the interior of which was outfitted with a lot of equipment. The base was adorned with the symbol of a devil and an angel fused together. If Xiang Ning were there, he would have recognized it. This was the base of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Within the base, a 3D scan of the ruined city was displayed. An executive wearing a bull mask was examining it.

“My lord, both Bird and Toad are confirmed dead. Their entire squad was annihilated as well.”

“Hmph! What a bunch of useless garbage! They even swore that they’d kill the lady of the Fang family. But instead, not only did they die, they even revealed our presence.”

“What should we do?”

“The enemy should be strong, since they could kill both Bird and Toad. They’ve probably just arrived at the ruined city. But that’s alright, we’re hiding in the shadows for now. They should be in a hurry to rescue their friends. Gather some men and hide in the western part of the town, the moment they see someone entering the underground parking space.…”

“I understand! Immediately alert the beasts by causing a ruckus!”

Bull chuckled as he beckoned the cult member to come closer. The member could only do as he was told.

Bull extended his hand and lightly patted his head before slapping him silly. “You idiot! You wait for five minutes after they enter the parking space before you create any disruptions, understood?!”

“Not really.” The cult member had been slapped silly.

“If you don’t understand, just follow my orders!” Bull slapped him again.

“Yes, yes, yes, of course!”

“Then quickly go and arrange it!”

“Yes, yes, yes, of course!”

As he looked at the cult member leaving the chambers, Bull could only sigh. “Not sure what the higher-ups are doing, letting in idiots like them.”

......

Back on the other side, Xiang Ning and Six were prepared and marched into the ruined city.

“How old are you? Aren’t you afraid of dying here?” Six was holding an R8700 assault rifle with a magazine of a hundred and twenty shots. He didn’t prepare any more bullets to reduce his load; the rifle was only for emergencies.

“I’ll be seventeen next month,” Xiang Ning chuckled.

“Really? Wow, you don’t look like it. Hopefully the dead spirits of this city will protect you,” Six laughed.

“Huh? What do you mean?” They were traversing across a large boulder.

Six pointed to the buildings around them. “Did you know that after the disaster the city was known as City Sixteen? The reason behind the name was that there were sixteen squads of martial artists who sacrificed their lives to evacuate the final hundred and sixty thousand civilians.”

Xiang Ning gradually stopped and took his bottled water out of his backpack. He poured the water down the earth as he silently prayed to the souls of the warriors. “I pray that all of you will rest in peace.”

Six patted his shoulder in approval. Soon, both of them were running at full speed again. Before they turned a corner, however, Xiang Ning had pulled Six back. His Combat Instinct was telling him that there was a tier four beast just behind the boulder.

“Hoh. To think that we would encounter such a large beast.” Xiang Ning tried to find some cover as he signaled Six that a tier four beast was nearby. Six nodded; he had also briefly seen the beast when they’d tried to round the corner just then. It was a rhinoceros beast known as an Iron Tank. Based on its horn length and body size, it was definitely tier four.

Just as he wanted to strategize with Xiang Ning, he almost cried out to warn him. Xiang Ning had already sent four flying knives toward the beast!

Six barely suppressed his voice as he saw Xiang Ning running up and jumping high into the sky. He unleashed the full strength of the Mountain-Splitting Slash powered up with his Mental Power.

The Iron Tank felt the danger and stood up. Just as it did so, four flying knives stabbed into its weak spots. The knives were already coated with the cure.

In an instant, the beast lost 40% of its defense and rational thinking. It stood there motionlessly. Xiang Ning brought his sword down and its head was sent flying; there wasn’t even enough time for it to cry out in surprise.

A tier four beast had easily been killed by Xiang Ning.

But things weren’t over. A black liquid spewed forth from the Devourer and it wormed into the body of the beast. The corpse shuddered for a few seconds before the black liquid re-emerged once again with the heart of the beast.

Six was dumbfounded. No wonder Li Yunfei allowed Xiang Ning to fight the Pale Moon all by himself! He could cut open an Iron Tank, one of the beasts boasting the highest defense. There was no reason for him to lose to a Pale Moon.

Luckily, there weren’t any more beasts around them. The Iron Tank was a beast that preferred solitude, so it would chase other beasts away. If that weren’t the case, they would have been surrounded by beasts a long time ago.

When Xiang Ning returned, Six gave him a thumbs up. Initially, he had been worried that Xiang Ning might be too young, but it seemed that there would be no problems. In fact, it was more likely that Xiang Ning would save his life.

But what he didn’t know was that Xiang Ning wanted to apologize first. Though, seeing how Six was so happy, he decided to let it slide.

Now, why did he want to apologize?

That was because he never wanted to fight the beast in the first place. It was Devourer’s fault. The moment they saw the Iron Tank, the Devourer had almost escaped his grip. He wasn’t sure whether the Devourer could fight against it all on its own, so he had to fight at full strength as well. He was more or less certain that he could defeat it in one hit.
