Chapter 238 Meeting The Parents

“Long time no see! You’ve grown to be so much more beautiful now!” Lu Shiyu excitedly greeted her. It wasn’t every day that she could meet her face to face.

“Hehe, you’ve grown too! You are so much prettier now too! Did you find that person here on Earth? I kept wondering who was that lucky person!”

Lu Shiyu blushed as Anran sat down on the sofa beside her. “I found him, but I think he’s forgotten about me. I’m already satisfied knowing that I can watch him from this distance.”

“You must really love him?” Annot propped her chin on her hand. She was at an age where she would be curious about love. Her secret stash of books were all about sweet and romantic love.

Lu Shiyu thought about it and decided to be honest. “Of course! But it’s not like the love you read about in your novels and comics.”

“Love is love, why’re you differentiating it?” Annot was curious.

Lu Shiyu smiled and didn’t answer. As for Xiang Ning, it could be said that he was her anchor. She hadn’t been born on Earth, but due to various reasons, she’d been temporarily sent to an orphanage here. She was still young and cowardly at that time.

Xiang Ning was her torch during those dark days. While the time they spent together was brief, she had never forgotten about it. They said that children would quickly forget a lot of things, but certain events were so important to them that they would never forget.

“Alright, Annot, let’s discuss the official issues first, and you can play with Lu Shiyu after that.” Anran took out an official document. “Lu Shiyu, this is our itinerary for the next few days. We need excellent bodyguards no older than eighteen years old. It would be best if they’re tier four and above.”

Lu Shiyu nodded and checked the documents. It was a bit difficult to find people that fulfilled the criteria. To be able to cultivate to tier four before eighteen, someone would need unbounded talent, but even so, it would be difficult to find ten of them even in a large city like North Star City. It was almost impossible to find in a city like Marsh City.

“To be fair, for a border city like Marsh City, if there’s anyone who could cultivate to tier four before eighteen they would’ve been transferred to the large cities in search of better resources. They’d never stay here.”

“I see…” Anran furrowed her brows, then compromised, “then what about lowering the requirements?”

“Hmm, sure. I have a good candidate. He isn’t tier four yet, but he’s already stronger than an average tier four.”

“Oh?” Anran had already conducted a search in Marsh City before coming there. She set a high requirement because she was sure that there wouldn’t be anyone but Lu Shiyu capable of filling the bodyguard role. Not only were they familiar with each other, but her strength should have increased during the stampede. She was also a dual cultivator, so naturally she would be the best candidate.

“Yep, the person I’m talking about is the very same person I came to Earth for.” Lu Shiyu smiled.

Her response reassured Anran. Just as birds of a feather flock together, she trusted that the person Lu Shiyu talked about wouldn’t be someone with a bad character.

“Really? Is he really the one you came to find? I want to meet him too!” Annot was excited.

Looking at her innocent demeanor, Anran decided that it should be fine. “Alright, let’s give him a candidate position then. Even though he has your recommendation, I should still test his character and strength.”

“No problem, I believe he’ll succeed too. It’s just a matter of whether he’ll come or not.” Lu Shiyu smiled.

Annot confidently chuckled, “Hmph! What kind of joke is that? No one can resist my songs! Hehe.”

“Hey, maybe he really hasn’t heard your songs before,” Lu Shiyu calmly said.

“How could that be?” Annot didn’t believe her.

Anran understood what she meant. The only place she had lived on Earth was at an orphanage. That meant that whoever she was recommending was also an orphan. Thus, it was very probable that he hadn’t heard Annot’s songs. Or maybe he had heard them but didn’t know who the singer was.

“Okay, let’s ask him. I want to meet him too!” Annot chuckled.

Lu Shiyu nodded and looked at the time. “It’s almost time for dinner, do you want to have some with me?”

Annot stared pleadingly at her sister. She almost used her sure-kill crocodile tears attack!

Anran sighed and reluctantly agreed, “Fine, we should be alright with Lu Shiyu. Let’s go.”

“Yay! You’re the best!”

......

Back in Xiang Ning’s house, he was watching television with his sister after dinner. Before bedtime, she stood up and wanted to go and cultivate. She was already on the verge of entering tier two; her talent was frightening.

He wanted to accompany her for her training, but his communicator rang. He took a look and saw it was Fang Rou. “Hello? Is something the matter?”

“Nothing, it’s just that my father would like to invite you to my house.” Fang Rou’s voice was low as she glanced at her father.

“Ah really? Alright, I’m free now. Send me the address and I’ll head over.” Xiang Ning hadn’t quite caught her tone.

“Ah?! You’re coming now?! Wait, I’ll send you the address. No, wait, I mean I’ll send someone to fetch you!” Fang Rou was distressed. He was meeting her parents! Wasn’t this too fast?! What if her father didn’t like him?!

“Oh, no problem. They just sent back my Windbreaker, so I’ll be there faster. I don’t want to let your father wait too long.” Xiang Ning knew that her father was an important figure and couldn’t stay there long to wait for him.

“Erm… sure.” She hung up and sent him the address. Once that was done, she immediately stood up and ran into her room.

“Wait, where you going?” Fang Hao questioned.

“SHUT UP! I NEED TO CHANGE!”

“Huh?!”
