Chapter 64: Pretend Like It Never Happened

“Oh!” Almost like he had woken up from a dream, he suddenly gasped from enlightenment.

Everything was about their Young Master’s pride in the end…

“Hmm,” He suddenly realized and asked, “Young Master, where’s the little girl? Did she run away? Hmph, she showed us the wrong way, I was just about to look for her to teach her a lesson!”

“Why blame others for your incapability? She’s long gone already! Let’s go home!” Chubby Young Master Zhou’s expressions turned uncomfortable, he coughed and glared at the servant. He adjusted his attire and turned away to leave.

The words from Lu Xiao Shu kept repeating in his ears, “Hehe, what do you think if everyone knows how the ‘mighty’ young master was handled by a little girl? Don’t you think that you will become a big joke to everyone?”

That was why he would rather die than tell the truth!

As for the little girl, hmph! He could still remember how she looked. If he met her, he had plenty of ways to teach her a lesson.

He was at the losing end this time, would he still accept a loss the next time?

Lu Xiao Shu hurriedly went back to Ying Xian House because Xiao Xue and Xiao Yu were still there waiting for her. They were all relieved when they saw her. They held her and anxiously asked, “Are you alright? Did anything happen?”

Lu Xiao Shu shook her head and smiled, “I’m alright, everything’s fine!”

“I’m scared to death! Let’s hurry back home!” Xiao Yu patted her chest to calm her lingering fear. Although Xiao Xue was the one being dallied by the fatso, however, she was still right beside her! Who would know what would happen next?

She was engaged to someone from a well-to-do family! If the engagement was ruined by this, not only would her mother tear her up, but she would have to live with the regret for her whole life!

Although the temple fair was entertaining, she didn’t want to stay anymore.

“Okay, let’s go back!” Xiao Xue was also terrified. She didn’t want to recall how the chubby boy stared at her from head to toe and dallied with her! At that moment, she was about to burst into tears, if Xiao Shu didn’t come on time…

“Xiao Xue, Xiao Yu, remember this, nothing happened today.” Lu Xiao Shu suddenly put on a serious face and said, “Both of you have to remember my words.”

Xiao Xue and Xiao Yu had never seen her being serious, and they were stunned.

Lu Xiao Shu shook Xiao Xue’s shoulder anxiously, “Xiao Xue, did you hear what I said? Only the three of us know what happened today, okay?”

A girl’s reputation was even more important than her life in this century, these two girls do understand this fact, don’t they? Even a transmigrated person like her knew that!

How would Xiao Xue and Xiao Yu not know? They were just dumbfounded for a moment, but they quickly recovered from the shock and nodded, “Yes, yes, nothing happened! Nothing happened today!”

“Oh no!” Xiao Yu cried out all of a sudden as her face turned pale, “But, but Shi Tou saw us too, what if…”

Lu Xiao Shu thought for a while before she affirmed, “Shi Tou was far away, I doubt that he could see anything clearly! It was clearly the fatso who asked you for directions. He still decided to make a fuss about it, I will definitely chastise him if I see him again!”

“Can we really…say that?” Xiao Xue was very well-behaved and honest, she was not used to telling lies.

“This is the truth!” Lu Xiao Shu said firmly. Her tone of speech made Xiao Xue and Xiao Yu look at each other as if their doubts were ridiculous.

“Hmm, yes, yes!” Xiao Yu agreed.

Besides, by the time the foolish Shi Tou found Lu Qi and told him everything, and Lu Qi panicked before rushing to the location of the incident, not even a shadow was found there.

Shi Tou scratched his head in confusion, “This can’t be true! I am sure she was here, Xiao Shu said she’ll stay here to watch them, but why is she gone too? Did I remember wrongly?”

Lu Qi didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry, but he did have a strong urge to punch him.

However, Lu Qi clearly knew about his sister’s ability. He heard that the group only had a young master who lived in clover with two servants. He knew how things could have ended and simply muttered, “If that’s the case, then they’re probably fine. Who knows if it’s just a misunderstanding!”

Shi Tou was dumbfounded, he stared at Lu Qi like he didn’t recognize who he was.

Xiao Xue and Xiao Shu are both your sisters, aren’t you worried? I’m an outsider and I’m extremely worried about them!

“Since there’s no one here anymore, I guess there’s nothing to worry about anymore! Don’t worry, let’s go. Well, to Ying Xian House.” Lu Qi smirked and patted his shoulder calmly.

I believe Xiao Shu will bring them to the place that we promised to meet.

Shi Tou stared at Lu Qi who was unbelievably calm. “Oh.” He was slightly stupefied and followed Lu Qi to Ying Xian House.

As expected, the three little girls were drinking tea and eating snacks in Ying Xian House. They greeted the two of them with a big smile when they arrived.

“Ah!” Shi Tou exclaimed and ran towards them. He looked up and down to observe the three girls. He cracked a smile and his face was surprised and delighted at the same time.

Xiao Xue and Xiao Yu grew uncomfortable as he observed them, they unnaturally clenched their fists. However, Lu Xiao Shu casually glanced at Shi Tou while chewing on a melon seed. She spat out the shells and questioned, “Why are you looking at us like that? Don’t you recognize us anymore?”

“No, no! This, this is great!” Shi Tou giggled and sat down. He couldn’t help but question, “How did all of you escape? I was worried to death! Luckily, you’re all fine! Hehe, Brother Lu really could foresee the future, he had guessed correctly!”

Lu Xiao Shu looked towards her brother, and Lu Qi turned towards her too. They exchanged looks while a mischievous spark glinted in Lu Xiao Shu’s eyes. They had a tacit understanding with each other.

Lu Xiao Shu said innocently, “We are perfectly fine! I think you must be mistaken if you’re making a fuss! That fatso stopped my sister and Xiao Yu just to ask for directions!”

Shi Tou was stunned for a while before questioning suspiciously, “Really? But why do I have a feeling that…”

“That is what you think! You were so far away from us, I’m sure you weren’t able to clearly see what happened!” Lu Xiao Shu affirmed.

Xiao Xue and Xiao Yu were relieved when Lu Xiao Shu managed to deceive Shi Tou, they nodded their heads.

The two people that were involved in that incident had said so, what else could Shi Tou say? He scratched his head and tried to recall what had happened. Perhaps, maybe that is true…

I didn’t go near to have a look, and I didn’t hear anything either.

Shi Tou was embarrassed, he scratched his head and smiled, “My mistake, jeez…” He apologized repeatedly.

Xiao Yu burst into laughter after noticing his embarrassment.

Lu Xiao Shu grinned, “Actually, we don’t blame you either! You had good intentions after all, am I right? Well, this incident is over, so let’s not mention it again in the future!”

“Alright, I won’t!”  Shi Tou was relieved for not being blamed when he made up the story, he certainly wouldn’t mention it to anyone.

They then had a meal at Ying Xian House before strolling around and went home.

The temple fair went on for three days continuously, however, the people from different villages could talk about it for more than a month. The people had little to no entertainment all year round, some people had never seen a temple fair that was this lively and bustling. This explained why the villagers were so excited.

So, Miao Cui Lan, Tong Yu Er, and Miao Chu He couldn’t help but join the excitement the next day. However, the Lu sisters didn’t follow.

After enjoying the temple fair and Lantern Festival, and spring was just right around the corner, it was time to get busy with farming again. The fertile lands were watered and piled with fertilizer. Once the land had soaked up the water after a few days, the land could be ploughed.

*Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival celebrated on the 15th day of the first month in the Chinese calendar.

Besides the vegetable fields, they began to remove old vegetables that had grown throughout the autumn and winter. They refreshed the land before sprinkling the seeds of cucumber, pepper, eggplant, tomato, beans, loofah, pumpkin, lettuce, and many other vegetables in the new season.

The soil and weeds near the bamboos on the mountain also needed to be ploughed and trimmed, so that the bamboo shoots could grow faster and better.

Some fruit trees also needed soil ploughing and weed trimming.

Hence, every household was busy planting seeds on their farm, even their children had come to help.

The Lu Family was no exception. Lu Xiao Shu and Xiao Xue followed their parents and aunt to the vegetable farm and mountains.

In fact, this was Lu Xiao Shu’s favorite thing to do. How would their parents be willing to let them work? They brought the sisters with them just to do trifle things. As soon as they got into the mountain forest, they could see fresh greens of the mountains, the birds chirping, and the wind blowing. Nature was full of life, and it felt warm and cozy.

That day, Mr Wu came to their house to have dinner. The fish during early spring tasted the best because the flesh became more delicious after the fat depletion during the winter. Mr Wu placed a fish cage in the river and caught three or four big fishes which weighed nearly ten pounds. He especially brought the fishes to the Lu Family.

They chattered after dinner, and Mr Wu brought up a topic about the weather during the last winter. He briefly explained and sighed, “Looking at how the weather was like during the winter, I’m afraid there will be a drought this year. It has already rained twice after the Spring Festival. The rain came too early, it might not be a good sign! If the drought really comes during the summer and autumn, it would be terrible!”

Everyone had never doubted the words from Mr Wu. Miao Cui Lan became anxious after hearing what Mr Wu had said. Their family had depended on Heaven to survive. Without the rain, how could the crops grow on their field?

How many families would suffer from a scanty harvest!
