Chapter 86: From The Shadows

"Be cautious. Point your flashlights into the darkness and shoot anyone you see.'' The masked leader aimed the semi-automatic rifle into the darkness and gave his orders quickly. Although he was unable to identify any of the victims or the killer, when he counted the number of his men, he realized that the attackers had already claimed the lives of several of his men.
'How did they kill six people already without me noticing it?'
Having second thoughts, the masked leader shouted again.
''Be careful, and keep an eye on each other's backs. The enemy is coming from the shadows. '' He realized that his enemies were very good at concealment.

Immediately after the masked leader gave his orders, gunshots could be heard from around the vehicle a short distance away, and when he turned to look there, he heard another sound close by.
''Sto…Aghhgh''
''What the…??? '' He once again turned around to see one of the men beside him on the ground with a cut on the neck.
''Open fire! Shoot in every direction. Shoot into the darkness anywhere you can't see.'' Fearful of the might of the enemy he could not see, the masked man quickly began to shout orders to his men.
The remaining soldiers started firing all of their magazines into the pitch-black night as soon as they heard their leader, hoping to hit the enemy.
''Agghh..''
''Gaghh..''
''Kaughgahg…''
''Mommy..''

''Who are they?! I couldn't even see them. ''
"I saw one of them… He was wholly a thing of blackness… They don't resemble a human… ''
The masked leader and his men were a bunch of street thugs who only cared about getting paid. They had never seen anything like this before, so they mistook Dan and his crew for monsters, despite the fact that they were only concealing themselves using the shadow assassin technique.
While the masked men were dying one by one against monsters that came from the darkness stealthily and gradually retreating in fear as they faced the unknown, the masked leader had already begun making plans to flee.
'Shit, shit, shit, why are there monsters here? I've heard rumors of monsters roaming this area, but I've never seen one.' The masked leader continued to fire while approaching a car, and as he considered getting in and fleeing, he noticed that the car's tires were flat.
''Damn, when did they do this? '' The man started cursing and ran to the back of the car and pointed his gun at the people inside.
''You cripple boy, you're coming with me.'' He then pulled Rayn out of the car's frame by grabbing him by the collar.
''Hey, what are you doing!!!''
''Let go of brother Rayn. ''
*BANG*
''Gaaghh…''
One of those attempting to hold Rayn back and resisting was shot in the shoulder by the masked man.
''The next bullet will be to your head. Wait quietly here. If you move, I'll kill you all along with the boy...''
Everyone gritted their teeth and stepped back as soon as they heard the man make his threat.
While none of them could see the people attacking the masked men, they were all keeping an eye on what was happening around them up until this point and were very aware of who they were. They, therefore, hoped that Rayn would be safely saved by Dan and his crew as well.
''Good. And as for you.'' When he noticed Rayn's furious expression, the man grabbed him by the hair and threw him to the ground. He then struck him behind the neck with the back of his gun, rendering him unconscious.
''You.. ''
''I said stay silent. '' The man yelled again, aiming his gun at the person speaking, and when he stopped speaking, he picked up Rayn and started looking for a way out.
'I have to leave right away while I still have men to occupy them. If I don't bring this kid, the boss's main target, he'll kill me anyway.' After some deliberation, the man began to flee into the night, under the cover of gunfire.

One of the masked men fell to the ground after taking a knife strike to the throat, and Dan, who was behind him, appeared. He cast a cold, emotionless glance at the other masked men's bodies lying on the ground in a pool of blood before being drawn to the location by a voice coming from the back of the car in front of him.
''B-Boss. It's really you. '' A middle-aged man said, his eyes filled with tears.
''I knew they'd come.'' With a sigh, one of the aunts joined in.
''As Rayn predicted, they came to save us... Wait a minute, we can't spend time here chit-chatting, Boss, the leader of the masked men just knocked out Rayn and fled with him, you have to save him.'' One of the young people spoke quickly, clutching his injured shoulder.
''What?! Why did that asshole kidnap Rayn? That fucker…Where did he go? I'm going to kill that coward myself. '' Dan couldn't keep the cold demeanor on his face any longer and yelled. He thought the masked leader fled while holding Rayn hostage because he was obviously terrified of what was going to happen to him. Taking a crippled boy hostage was certainly easier for him.
''They fled that way. Dan, he's only been gone a few minutes; you can still catch up with him; please save him.'' One of the aunts, unable to hold back her tears, pleaded, pointing toward the darkness.
''Do not worry. I'll bring Rayn back alive once I've killed that coward.''
As soon as Dan finished speaking, he immediately began running in the direction in which the aunt was pointing.
Even though he had never seen so much blood in one night, all he wanted at the moment was more blood, specifically the sight of the kidnapper of Rayn drowning in his own blood.
