“Fuyuki-sama…! Do you know how long I have waited for this day…!?”

Kadokura let go of his bat and stumbled towards Fuyuki.

Hino-san stood in his way to prevent him from getting close.

“… don’t get in the way, as an individual coming at the last minute.”

“It’s my job to protect Fuyuki-sama.”

“Do you think I will cause harm to her?”

“Yeah, I definitely do think you can.”

Just the two staring at each other made my heart grow cold.

There’s almost no difference in height.

Both of them are slender, and there doesn’t seem to be a clear difference in their physiques―.

“… Asahi.”

“Yes, Fuyuki-sama.”

“I will leave this to you.”

“As your order.”

With those words as a signal, the two began to move against each other.

I don’t know much about the delicate specifics, but their attacks and defence were so fast my eyes couldn’t catch up.

However, there was one thing I could certainly understand.

This match was a landslide victory for Hino-san.

“Kah… hah.”

“If you try to move any further, the pressure will increase accordingly. I will suggest you take it easy now.”

“Kuh, s**t…!”

Kadokura got pinned facing the floor as Hino-san pressed him down from above. He was unable to move, no matter how hard he tried.

Even breathing might have been difficult from having her weight accumulating on his back.

“Kadokura, I will be handing you over to the police now.”

“Hahahahahaha! It’s no use. I’m the man chosen by you. The moment I get released, I’ll definitely come to see you again! You and I are meant to be together!”

“… you don’t seem to be remorseful. Well, maybe that’s exactly why you are like that.”

The voice with which Fuyuki was responding was completely cold-hearted.

She held out her open hand to Hino-san.

Hino-san nodded in response, taking a pocket knife out of her pocket and handing it over to Fuyuki.

“H–hey… Fuyuki? What are you planning to do…”

“I’m sorry, Haruyuki-kun. I might have you witness a really terrible side of me now.”

After taking out the blade, Fuyuki slowly approached Kadokura from then on.

And as she knelt down and looked down at that guy, she slowly brought her mouth near his ear.

“Certainly, I chose you. I was the one who judged Kadokura Kosuke as an excellent person and decided that he should be the person in close proximity to me.”

“Hahahaha! That’s right! That’s right! I belong to Fuyuki-sama! That’s why I need to be with you fro―”

“Yes. That’s why I have to draw the line now.”

“Eh?”

Saying so, Fuyuki held her knife on her hands upside down and raised it up.

“Eh, Fuyuki-sama!? What are you trying to do?”

“Kadokura Kosuke, you are no longer―”

—of any need.

With those silent words, she swung her knife down with great momentum.

“Hii…!”

Kadokura let out a small scream.

And then there was the sound of hard objects colliding against each other.

“… Phew.”

Well, in conclusion, Fuyuki’s knife never reached and penetrated Kadokura.

It struck the ground just beyond his line of sight.

The tip of the knife was right there facing him.

From the beginning itself, she probably didn’t intend to stab him.

However, probably because of the fear of death or the shock of Fuyuki’s words, Kadokura fainted on the spot with a cramped expression.

“I’m sorry, Haruyuki-kun. Did I scare you?”

“… Nope, I knew Fuyuki wasn’t the type to do that. Well, although I was surprised.”

Fuyuki smiled wryly and stood up.

And then she reached out her hand to me, helping me stand up.

Yakumo yelled and jumped at her as if to cut in between her and me.

[TLN: This audience…]

“Senpai! Senpai! SENPAI! I was scared! I was so scared!”

“Oh, a~h… I’m glad you’re safe.”

“U~gh… Higuu.”

Well, I guess it’s not unreasonable to have felt relieved and started crying.

Fuyuki didn’t seem to complain about this either. She just looked away as if she had given up on the situation.

In the end, Yakumo was just a victim who got involved in all this mess.

I had nothing but sympathy for her.

“Is Kadokura going to the police after this?”

“Yes. With this, he will surely not approach us again in future. This man is that kind of person, after all… That’s why.”

Kadokura relentlessly tried to get close to her because he believed he was an existence needed by her to achieve her goals.

I’m sure it’s the negative effect of leaving while the relationship was still at an ambiguous stage.

In the end, Fuyuki forcefully put an end to their relationship by announcing that she no longer needed him.

She decided that they were strangers from here on out.

Of course, it goes without saying that they were strangers, to begin with as well.

Nevertheless, as I have always believed, words have a definite power.

There are so many cases in this world where casual words ruin someone’s life.

“… it’s almost time.”

When Hino-san muttered that while holding Kadokura down, the sound of a siren from outside was slowly becoming audible.

It seemed that the police had come.

“I will be handing over Kadokura Kosuke to the police from here on out.”

“I’ll be sure to look till its very end.”

“—Understood.”

After a while, several strong police officers came to the floor where we were.

It seemed the guards hired by Kadokura also got caught, and their voices could be heard screaming outside the building.

By the time the police arrived, Kadokura had regained consciousness, but his expression was quite empty, and he looked like his will had left him.

Anyone who saw him would get convinced he was already ‘finished.’

Kadokura was handcuffed and taken away.

However, as if regaining the light in his eyes for just a moment, he turned his gaze toward me.

“Inamori, Haruyuki”

“… What is it?”

“You’re not normal.”

After a pitiful smile appeared on his face, his expression faded again.

“I am not normal, huh.”

I repeated those last words in my head.

But there was little to no turmoil in reaction to such words.

“… I know.”

I probably wouldn’t try to protect myself.

I do believe it’s a bad habit of mine, and also the most dangerous one.

Honestly, I was aware of that.

That’s why even if Kadokura were to pity my nature, I wouldn’t feel even a tad bit upset.

“Haruyuki-kun?”

I could hear the worried voice of Fuyuki, standing next to me.

For some reason, the voice sounded like it was coming from somewhere far away, and even though she was supposed to be next to me, I couldn’t grasp my own position where I was standing.

My vision wobbles and distorts.

The voices I heard around me sounded further yet again.

I couldn’t even tell who it belonged to anymore.

The swayed point of vision gradually narrowed and went painted black.

And then perhaps―― I had already let go of my consciousness.
