“I don’t know either.”

Nina muttered.

Seeing their faces relieved her tension and a sense of relief enveloped Nina’s entire body.

Louis nodded his head at her answer.

“You must have used a lot of energy. Rest for now.”

“Don’t leave me alone in here.”

At Nina’s words, Kirill clicked her tongue.

“Am I going to eat you? Huh?”

“It’s just that my room is comfortable.”

“I’ll take you.”

Saying so, Adrian picked up Nina dressed in her hospital gown, and lifted her up. Her weight was so light that his heart pounded, Adrian would feel uneasy every time he held her.

Since it’s a body restored by her Spirits, if her energy declines, or if she can’t use her Spirits anymore, she might become powder and disappear as it is. Such anxiety was always holding him back. It was a fundamental fear that had nothing to do with how strong she was.

It was quite a distance from the treatment room to Nina’s bedroom, so she wiggled her hands and looked at Adrian.

She would normally wrap her arms around his neck, but she knew that Adrian continued to avoid her. So she could no longer be as daring as she used to be. She had a pile of things she wanted to say, but she couldn’t get her words out.

He lowered Nina onto the bed and pulled the blanket over.

Sitting halfway across her bed, he looked at Nina. Part of her hair was burned and had to be cut off. Still, the hair length just under the shoulder was terribly short compared to the other side of her hair. Nina smiled awkwardly when she felt his gaze.

“I think I should just cut it off, right? Short hair, just like the old days.”

He placed it behind her ear, but Adrian said nothing. Nina closed her mouth too.

Adrian’s insides were fighting fiercely. But when Nina lifted her chubby eyes and looked at him, he had no choice but to raise his hands in defeat.

He humbly surrendered.

Adrian looked into Nina’s eyes and whispered.

“You were scared, right?”

At those words, Nina’s eyes burst into tears. He reached out first and hugged her. Nina felt at ease, as if her mind was finally relaxed, and threw her body at him.

“A-Adrian, I-I, maybe, sniff, I was afraid to have to kill Benzel, I was really scared—”

To kill people.

No one enjoys it.

Nevertheless, Nina has never hesitated to do such a thing.

She is stronger than anyone else. If she doesn’t kill the enemy when fighting, someone else will eventually take the job.

The more strength you have, the more responsibilities you own.

But killing an acquaintance was something entirely different. What if she hadn’t given Benzel the seed crystal with her Spirit power? What if she had to kill him who became a Bellac without hope of turning him back?

Randell could have done the job for her, but even so, it would have hurt her heart. So when she knew there was a slight hope he could be saved, she ran without hesitation.

But what if he doesn’t turn back?

What if I have to really kill him?

That was scary.

“I see, it was like that. It’s okay now.”

Adrian whispered while hugging her. Nina, who lost her energy while crying, fell asleep in his arms. As she fell asleep, he sighed as he wiped away the tears left on Nina’s cheek and the moisture on her eyelashes.

Kirill’s patient uniform consisted of short sleeves and shorts. Vivian jumped up and down, saying she was dressing people like a manly actor in his underwear, but Kirill didn’t blink.

‘Then should I take off all the pieces of clothes every time I put bandages on their limbs?’

Kirill ignored Vivian’s words to prepare long and short-sleeved patient gowns separately.

Thanks to that, the patient’s uniform was still short sleeves and shorts, and there was a lot of bare skin exposure.

Adrian was immersed in ambivalent emotions.

The reason he avoided physical contact with Nina was simple.

They had to change.

Because they shouldn’t be staying as close childhood friends anymore. So he kept his distance.

But is it even worth hurting Nina?

When he saw Nina with a startled look every time he avoided her, his chest also ached and in the end, he lost.

His feelings didn’t matter in the face of her sorrow. If she wanted to be hugged, he had to hug her, and if she wanted to be touched, he had to give up.

But it couldn’t be the same as before.

His feelings have already changed, and his heart has already changed. He can’t touch Nina like he used to, and he can’t hold her like he used to.

His heart cherishes the woman in his arms as if it were his only treasure in this whole life, that fact didn’t change, but the urge to touch her smooth skin and taste it even deeper rose along with it.

There was a desire that could not be satiated just by embracing the body that fits snugly in his arms.

There was an urge to bite her tender flesh and taste it.

There was a desire to kiss.

He wanted to caress, brush, feel, hug, mix, shake and disturb her.

He let out a breath mixed with heat. His eyes sank deeply into silence while Adrian looked at Nina’s sleeping face that was leaning on his chest.

A gentle and soft face that was relaxed after pouring out all of the bubbling emotions. Her sleeping face, while holding his collar tightly, was so lovely that it made his heart ache.

“I love you, Nina.”

He lightly swept her bangs. Her round forehead was very cute.

A spontaneous smile came out of his mouth.

What’s the use of such love if he hurts Nina to fulfill his love?

He knew well the darkness within him. So he was afraid of hurting Nina more than anything.

Because, if it was him, it was possible enough to happen.

‘Benzell.’

He turned his thoughts to him.

Nina imparted power to him. Adrian became sullen at that fact. But…If he stays with Nina, things like this will happen all the time, so it would be unbearable if he pays attention to every single detail.

‘Then Princess Vialentel did an experiment on him? If so…….’

Benzel’s existence in itself would be a tool to oppress the Princess.

‘It’s a story that can happen only if he collaborates.’

I can’t help but hope Faradiv can convince him because I didn’t want to leave Nina to him anymore.

That’s why I didn’t like him from the beginning.

‘He doesn’t even know his place.’

How dare he touch Nina?

I would like to shatter him to pieces, but it was a life that Nina saved, and that fact it’s not to be taken lightly.

What was precious to Nina was precious to him, too.

Randell took Fiona with him, so it seems that Fiona could really purify the corrupted spirit fragments.

It’s a person we should never let go of.

‘If it is confirmed…’

I was thinking of purging the Violet Forest first. Nina has a barrier there, so perhaps the Cult may be after Nina.

The first thing to do was to get rid of the anxiety factor that can blow behind our backs at any time.

‘But I don’t get it.’

At first, I thought some parts of The Cult were taking roots in the Temple. But looking back, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The temple itself was The Cult.

However, it doesn’t seem like the Cult became the Temple in order to expand its influent.

Looking back at what had happened so far, you could see things that were only possible if the Temple and the Cult were the same entity.

The Capital Barrier was broken, and the connection with the new Saint was also a clue.

If you think that the Temple is the Cult itself and wants the same thing The Cult wants, that means they want the world to perish.

The advent of the Fallen Spirit King.

‘But, why?’

The answer was clear, but I couldn’t figure out the motive. If I knew the reason, I could predict the movement with more certainty, but I was frustrated because I couldn’t figure it out.

The only thing that was clear, is that we were enemies.

The problem was…

‘Does Princess Vialentel knows?’

Or is she cooperating unknowingly?

She is not a nihilist who wants the world to end. Anyone with eyes could tell.

(Note: a person who believes that life is meaningless and rejects all religious and moral principles.)

Her desire was firmly rooted in reality.

‘Then, does she believe she can control it?’

A naïve behavior that does not know how frightening fanaticism is.

He looked at Nina and then pulled back slightly. Now it was time to lay her down and go to work.

“Hm…….”

She groaned softly and grabbed his collar.

“……”

Adrian paused for a moment and then tried to pull himself back, but each time Nina stopped him.

Sigh.

Adrian had no choice but to remain.
