As Cassian went into battle, Yernia’s knight protected her in and out of the barracks.

She deemed the knight reliable so she was able to stay at ease despite her husband’s absence.

“I’m all right.”

“You’re not alright. Please warm yourself up.”

The cold wind greeted Yernia when she called the knight, who stood guard outside the barracks, to come inside.

When asked to sit in front of the bonfire for a moment, the knight refused and tried to return outside.

After a little squabble, the knight ended up listening to her request.

“It’s warmer here, right?”

When he hovered his hands close to the flames, warmth spread throughout his cold skin.

“Thank you.”

Yernia chuckled.

She was getting bored waiting for Cassian all day.

Yernia slipped out a bottle but the knight didn’t accept the cup.

“You can drink this. Cassian offers this to me every time I’m cold.”

Cassian gave it to her just before he went to battle.

He specifically told her to only take a sip, but Yernia decided to ignore it.

“You can drink it yourself, My Lady. I’m fine.”

“It’s depressing to drink alone.”

“…….”

“Please just have one drink with me. What do you think?”

She tried drinking alone without company but it just wasn’t effective.

Alcohol was meant to be drunk with others.

The Knight had no choice but to accept Yernia’s offer.

“Oh, it’s nice. I’m starting to feel warm.”

“That’s right.”

Yernia and the knight became drowsy due to alcohol running through their veins.

The unsuspecting Knight failed to reject Yernia’s cup.

He looked drunk and she swore he didn’t look like that after drinking a few cups in a row.

However, Yernia was still clear-headed.

“Are you drunk already? How many fingers are you seeing?”

“Five?”

“Are you serious? It’s only one.”

“Why one?”

Yernia pulled her forefinger in front of him.

The Knight’s gone.

Wasted.

She shook her head with excitement.

She was planning to drink with Cassian once he arrived from the battlefield, but she was already drunk.

“I have three family members. I have two cute younger brothers and a sick sister. I’m going to pay for her medication. It’s all thanks to you.”

At first, she tried to listen and respond accordingly but there seemed to be no end to his particular story.

In the end, Yernia lost interest in his verbal biography that she decided to have one last sip before getting up.

She felt so dizzy from drinking too much.

“I’m going for a walk.”

“I guess I have used all my luck in this lifetime.”

Yernia came out and left the knight that  was already lost in his own world.

It was quiet and there were no people in sight since most of the soldiers were sent to the battlefield.

A few soldiers remained but none of them exited the barracks.

The rest were only guides.

Yernia had gotten used to this place a lot and nothing dangerous had happened so far.

“Habin, are you in there?”

Yernia walked to the barracks where she had seen Habin come and went once.

She was planning to seduce Habin for another drink.

Then, Yernia’s body was pulled into the barracks out of the blue.

Her mouth was covered in an instant.

The lights inside the barracks were on and it was Habin, the owner of the barracks, who pulled Yernia.

His face was thrust in front of her wide, round eyes.

He compelled her to close her mouth by pressing an index finger to his lips.

“Please be quiet.”

“…….”

“Promise me that you’ll be quiet and I’ll release you. If you’re willing to listen to me, nod your head.”

Habin seemed like a friendly and gentle person when Yernia arrived here.

The first time they met, he offered her a wooden chair and sat on the cold floor, instead, peeling the potatoes in silence.

He had answered her questions kindly unlike the hostile people she had met.

Yernia nodded.

The instant he saw the fear in her eyes, Habin released his hold on her.

“Why——”

As soon as Yernia spoke, Habin shushed him.

“Please treat me as usual. As if nothing happened.”

“…….”

“Please.”

She didn’t understand what was wrong with Habin.

She was frightened at the sudden change in his personality.

Right now, he was acting like a stranger.

As she interlocked her fingers to stop them from trembling, she did what Habin told her to do.

“Ha—-Habin. You weren’t sleeping?”

When she stuttered, Habin nodded as if nothing was wrong.

For some reason, Habin started stuffing his clothes into an old, worn bag.

Was he going somewhere?

Where was he planning to go late at night?

“Yes.” He answered casually, packing his luggage. “What’s the matter?”

First of all, she was doing what Habin told her to do but Yernia didn’t know why she wanted to leave him  as soon as possible.

She didn’t want to drink with him anymore.

“No, but I was about to invite you for a drink. Major Ricardo had given me something that can warm me up in this cold place. Since you look tired, I’ll just return to the barracks. I should go.”

Yernia tried her best to remain calm but she stuttered when Habin pulled out a dagger.

She couldn’t do anything about it since she was unarmed.

“Drinking will be great since I feel cold too. I will not be able to refuse if you invite me to Major Ricardo’s barracks.”

Habin said in a loud voice, adding some words Yernia didn’t even utter.

He definitely sounded like he was informing someone.

Who’s out there?

Yernia hadn’t run into anyone until she came to the barracks.

Suddenly, Habin whispered in her ear.

“Please guide me to Major Ricardo’s barracks.”
