I didn’t answer.

I don’t know what kind of person he is yet, and I don’t want to provoke him in any way.

“You’re smarter than I thought. I really don’t know what I would have done if you had said that you’re Margaret back then.”

Is it because he was talking with a smile? Those words seemed like a joke. So I couldn’t fathom his intentions.

“The first person I met on this island is you, Margaret…… It’s a bit suspicious, isn’t it?”

Again, I was silent without answering.

Like Enoch, it would be better to openly doubt and despise me, but I don’t know what was going through his head.

“But it’s strange. You have the same face as before, but why does it feel completely different?”

I decided to calmly watch what he was doing. Anyway, his wrists were tied. And he doesn’t seem to want to threaten me any more than that.

“This type of face is my taste— Ugh!”

Suddenly, Kayden was hit by something and pushed aside.

Startled, I looked up and saw Enoch standing there. It looks like he kicked Kayden with his foot.

“Margaret, come here.”

Enoch reached out his hand toward me. Without hesitation, I took his hand and got up, sneaking behind him.

Yes, it would be better to leave it up to Enoch to deal with an unbridled man like Kayden.

It seems that the part that Enoch kicked a while ago was near the chest where Kayden was wounded. I could see blood oozing out of the bandage.

However, I will not treat him again this time. Feeling pain, Kayden groaned with a troubled face and looked at Enoch.

“Long time no see, Lord.”

Enoch gave Kayden a cold greeting.

‘Lord’ is the title of the great wizard. It was like ‘Sir’ to the knights.

Enoch stretched out his arm that seemed to protect me as I stood behind him, and blocked my way. He turned back for a moment to check my condition and then turned his gaze to Kayden again.

Kayden, who had been sitting with a face contorted in pain, looked at me and Enoch in turn. And then he burst out laughing.

“Ha ha, how have you been, Your Highness?”

Kayden got up slowly, leaned against the wall of the cave, and looked at Enoch up and down.

Then he clicked his tongue in annoyance.

“Prince Enoch is protecting the Young Lady Floné…… I’ve seen so many things in my life that I can’t be surprised anymore.”

Even though his wrists were tied, he didn’t seem to be intimidated at all by Enoch.

“Are you going to keep acting like this? It was Margaret who healed your wound.”

In Enoch’s response, Kayden looked at me with a face that said, ‘How can I believe that bullshit?’.

“Margaret healed my wound?”

He was dumbfounded. It would be a little surprising if an ordinary noble girl healed his wound, but of all people, Margaret was the one who healed his wound.

Enoch suddenly pointed out the random part of what Kayden said.

“Margaret, have you ever allowed him to call your name?”

“No.”

I hid behind Enoch, put my head out, and looked at Kayden.

“How rude.”

As Enoch mumbled with a displeased face, Kayden shrugged his shoulders as if it was okay.

“Is it important to be polite in a situation where your life is unpredictable?”

Enoch replied coldly with a face that would not be shaken no matter what Kayden said,

“Right. It doesn’t matter right now. But it would be different if you got off this island alive.”

Kayden bit his lip. He turned to look at me and Enoch again, and then he flopped down, clicking his tongue.

I asked him, “How did you get that wound?”

Kayden had taken off his robe and shirt, and his bandaged body could be seen.

He glanced over his wound and let out a sigh.

“It happened by accident…… I was attacked by a monster. You know that this is an island full of monsters, right?”

Then he ruffled his hair, stared at me, and smiled.

“Well, you look fine.”

Hearing his words, I knew he was the cause of the ‘huge roar’ I heard when I ran into the monster that day.

Thanks to that, I was able to survive, but did he know that I was in danger and sacrificed himself?

‘Hm, I guess not. Even Kayden hates me.’

With that thought in my mind, I pulled out Kayden’s pendant from my pocket.

“This is yours, right?”

“Oh…… yes, it’s mine.”

Kayden frowned, and he stretched out his tied hands toward me. I put the pendant in his palm.

Kayden stared at the pendant and thanked me,

“Thank you. This is important to me even though I don’t really like it.”

I tilted my head at the words I did not understand the meaning of. I didn’t ask, but Kayden easily explained why.

“This is the mana seal of the tower lords passed down from generation to generation. To analogize it, it is like a safekeeping box. When the lord dies, his mana is sealed in this pendant. I heard that before the founding of the Langridge Empire, the mana of the tower lords during the Ingram Dynasty was also sealed here.”

“You carry something unique.”

Kayden burst into laughter.

“I always carry it like a habit. It is one of the myths that have been passed down from the tower, and they say that the mana of the lords of the tower has destructive power enough to blow up a whole empire.”

Kayden tucked the pendant into his trouser pocket. Then he said casually,

“However, no matter how strong the mana is, it is useless. Only the wizard who made this can break the mana seal, but he died a thousand years ago.”

I can see why it’s called a myth. Because it was only transmitted through literature, it was like an ability that could not be verified.

‘But why is he suddenly telling me this?’

“So, for now, it’s just something passed down as a symbol of the tower. When I die, my mana will be sealed here, too. It might be more meaningful to be sealed here than to have my mana scattered and disappearing in vain.”

Kayden said with a shrug, then he looked at Enoch and I in turn and asked,

“But how did you two get here?”

“How about you, Lord?”

At Enoch’s question, Kayden bit his lip.

“I was on my way to the temple……”

Kayden muttered as he narrowed his brows.

“Well, I guess it’s fine now. I’ll leave once my wound is healed.”

After answering that, Kayden gave me a wink.

“Thanks for the treatment, Margaret. It would have been better if I could see you treating me with my own eyes.”

Kayden intentionally called me by my first name. Enoch looks very uncomfortable.

Kayden smiled at me, not minding Enoch’s reaction at all.

Even if you don’t know when you’ll die on this remote island, Enoch is still the Crown Prince of the Empire.

“But you will leave? Where are you going?”

I thought I should speak formally because he was the lord of the tower, but I decided to speak informally like the first time we met.

Again, Kayden shrugged his shoulders as if he didn’t care that I was speaking informally.

“Somewhere on this island……?”

What’s that? I thought you knew something. Bunker, hut, or gate?

Seeing my disappointed face, Kayden added,

“It’s suspicious that I suddenly opened my eyes in this kind of place…… I think I was here through a portal, otherwise, there must be an escape gate or something. So I’m thinking of checking all corners of the island.”

An escape gate? I opened my eyes wide and looked at him.

Are you looking for a ‘gate’ that will open in a year? You’re planning something pretty productive.

Perhaps because he is an Archmage he could think like this.

I wondered if Enoch had the same thoughts as me.

“I never thought there would be an escape gate.”

At Enoch’s words, Kayden shrugged. Then with a smile, he asked me,

“Margaret, would you like to go with me?”

As Kayden said those words, my vision was blocked. Because Enoch blocked my way again.

“What else are you going to do to Margaret, get rid of that bullshit before I kick you out right now.”

Enoch, who said so, was quite reliable.

To be honest, I didn’t mean to follow Kayden even if he asked me to go again. Anyway, I don’t know when I will die at Kayden’s hands.
