Chapter 42: Brother Cheng

This new challenge obviously created a lot of discussion among the players.
“Find outside artists? How are we supposed to know any?”
Some girls couldn’t help but begin to complain in a low voice. The low-ranked contestants couldn’t get any resources or exposure, let alone already knew people from the circle. They were still hoping to get more popularity with the second public performance, but they now had to find people on their own and felt somewhat discouraged.
“Yes, everyone must only remember players from Class A, who would team up with us?”

The girls kept whispering and glanced at the highest-ranked players, feeling a little uneasy. The ones who had gotten resources to shoot advertisements during the holiday were different from the ones sitting on the bench. How could they compare?

Jiang Fengchi listened to everyone’s reactions one by one. He glanced in the direction of Class A where Qiao Dai was; no anxious expression was visible on her face after hearing the others’ words and the man wondered what she was thinking. With such a mentality, she would definitely be able to go further in the competition.

Jiang Fengchi slowly retracted his gaze and continued to speak: “Who said that only Class A’s players can get a guest? The program group has some contacts and some seniors in the circle have agreed to participate. Because of your hard work, they are willing to come and help. Doesn’t this mean that all the improvements you’ve made this past month have been witnessed by others?”
The girls who had complained about the Class A lowered their heads in shame.

Shining points of excellent people would always be seen and only those who didn’t give their all would complain about any unfairness in the rules. They would forget they had all come together and stood on the same stage, and that others were simply improving faster than they were.

After solving this problem, the next step was to form teams.
Thanks to Qiao Dai’s help during the first performance, Lin Xiaoxiao joined her group and once everything was over, team members gathered together to talk about which guests to invite.
“It’s better to find guests from women or men teams like us. It will be faster and easier to train together, we only have two weeks before the performance.”
Lin Xiaoxiao raised her head to look at her teammates and asked: “Do you have anyone in mind? Does anyone know about seniors who have free time?”
Although the program team could provide guests, it was still more suitable to find people on their own; the stage effect would definitely be better.

Most of the participants in the draft were newcomers. They knew the seniors at their agencies, but it was really complicated to find suitable and available people.
“I heard that Song Song asked Ray. Isn’t he the one with the high pitch?”
Inquiring about the other groups, some girls couldn’t help but sigh. One or two teams had been able to invite such powerful guests already, either an excellent singer or a very popular one. Even if the second performance was still two weeks away, they could already imagine the success. And if they couldn’t find someone with comparable strength, it would mean they would have already lost half of the challenge.

Shi Qing thought for a while and, as she was hesitating whether to speak or not, Lin Lang who was assigned to another group heard their conversation and suddenly said: “Daidai, I heard you have met a lot of people these past few days. Don’t you know of anyone who could help?”
When her words fell, the whole team stared at Qiao Dai with bright eyes, waiting for her answer. Of course, Qiao Dai had gotten first place in the first public performance, she should definitely know many people from the circle!

The girls who had just lost hope all turned their heads to look at their captain, their eyes full of expectation, eager to hear the affirmation of finding a suitable guest from Qiao Dai’s mouth.
Shi Qing’s expression changed slightly and she glanced at Lin Lang before quietly replying: “Lin Lang, you are too kind to remind us.”
Lin Lang ignored the meaning behind her words and she smiled: “You are welcome, I just thought that Daidai must know a lot of people.”
With a couple of sentences, Lin Lang gave Qiao Dai all the responsibility and hinted she should be able to find a powerful guest easily. This instantly increased the expectations of the other girls and if Qiao Dai couldn’t get anyone to participate with them, everyone’s impression of her would greatly decrease.

Shi Qing was very aware of Lin Lang’s two-faced personality; she had herself been nailed to the pillar of shame in the past, she didn’t want Qiao Dai to suffer the same.
She clenched her fist discreetly and looked at her former friend before jokingly saying: “Lin Lang, if I recall, you know the seniors at Shengshi. Can’t you recommend someone to us?”

The corners of Lin Lang’s lips twitched imperceptibly. She had not expected that Shi Qing, whom she had pushed aside before, would so blatantly go against her. Lin Lang always thought that the girl was just too scared to raise her head in front of her, who would have thought Shi Qing would speak for Qiao Dai today?
Ah, such a moving friendship.

Lin Lang sneered in her heart and responded calmly: “Of course, I can. If you really can’t find anyone else, I won’t let you get embarrassed.”
Her words either intentionally or unintentionally revealed her superiority. Lin Lang didn’t mind recommending people to Qiao Dai’s team but she wouldn’t help them find the most suitable person. It would already be considered a favor to help them get a guest, why find the most powerful artists?

As far as Lin Lang knew, Qiao Dai couldn’t know any popular seniors. Even if Meng Lingsi liked her a lot, the woman herself was not from the entertainment circle and she only had some movie and television contacts, no people suitable for the stage she could introduce to Qiao Dai.

Qiao Dai now had only two choices; she could choose to go with Lin Lang’s words and become her stepping stone or refuse… Lin Lang smiled, a look of contempt in her eyes and her heart full of disapproval. She didn’t think Qiao Dai would reject her proposal unless she was a fool. If she didn’t agree, wouldn’t she be blamed by her teammates if she couldn’t find a guest?
Therefore Qiao Dai would become her stepping stone, just like Shi Qing had been in the past.
Lin Lang could no longer hide the feeling of superiority on her face, but nobody said anything if they could see it.

“No need.”
Unexpectedly, Qiao Dai categorically rejected her. She raised her head to look at Lin Lang and said: “If you know someone suitable, you should discuss with your teammates instead. How can we trouble you?”
Lin Lang’s expression became stiff and she felt awkward, wondering if Qiao Dai was saying that on purpose.

Lin Lang’s team members also walked over. They didn’t understand Lin Lang’s true intentions and they thought Lin Lang wanted to help Qiao Dai because they were both trainees from the same company. They suddenly felt a little unhappy.
Even if they were from the same agency, they were not currently in the same team. If she didn’t take care of her own team, why should she help someone else? Learning Lin Lang wanted to recommend an artist from Shengshi to Qiao Dai’s group, they felt a little angry.
Shengshi was one of the top domestic entertainment companies but not only Lin Lang hadn’t said anything to them, she had gone to see other teams first. Wasn’t it somewhat betraying them?

Because Lin Lang usually pretended well, most of the players believed in her “Fairy Lang” persona her fans talked about. They didn’t think much about the meaning behind all of her actions but now that they witnessed her helping Qiao Dai’s group, her teammates felt a little speechless.

Lin Lang keenly sensed her teammates’ dissatisfaction and she bit her lips in embarrassment, only to turn around and flee.
What made her feel even more regretful was that after her teammates had learned she knew people from Shengshi, they had asked her to invite them instead. They were all idiots, only looking at the company’s name! Obviously, the person she had tried to introduce to Qiao Dai’s team was not particularly suitable. But now that they had heard the name “Shengshi”, everybody had instantly changed their minds!

“I’m afraid it won’t work.”
Lin Lang took a deep breath and tried to maintain her expression. But her teammates didn’t believe her and felt that she still wanted to recommend someone to Qiao Dai instead.
They couldn’t help but complain: “Lin Lang, we didn’t force you to team up with us. If you want to be with someone else, why don’t you directly join Qiao Dai and the others? You want to help them, where does that leave us?”

Facing the questioning of the girls, Lin Lang felt dizzy and she tried to defend herself. But she didn’t know where to start and she could only swallow her anger in the end.
If she had known things would end up this way, she would not have gone to talk to Qiao Dai. At least, Qiao Dai would definitely not be able to find anyone!

Lin Lang felt very upset. She was embarrassed and her mood plummeted. And when her group was fighting, Qiao Dai’s team was still discussing which guest to invite.
“If Lin Lang hadn’t said anything, I might have forgotten. I think I know someone I can ask, he should know a lot of people?”
For some reason, Qiao Dai immediately thought of Cheng Su. Right now it seemed that only a vicious killer whale could help her.

Thinking about this, Qiao Dai found the contact stored in her phone and pressed the dial key. The phone rang two or three times before it was connected.
Her heart was anxious, she had not expected the man would answer the phone so quickly and the half-written draft in her mind became a mess. She didn’t know how to begin and she instinctively blurted: “Brother Cheng Su, are you there?”
It was over, how could she call him intimately so casually?! Qiao Dai stopped breathing for a moment.

Cheng Su, who had already waited for her to talk a little impatiently, lightly frowned when he heard her. His heart slammed suddenly and he retorted: “Who is your brother?”
