"...And that shows the importance of the Quirk over the years... any questions?" Asked a lady with a smile as she turned to look at the rest of her class.

Some were paying attention to what she was saying as they found it interesting, others were talking to their classmates in hushed tones and lastly some people were sleeping....

Looking around the class the teacher glanced at her target before asking her with a devious smile....

"Miss Oxton! What were the first Quirks to show up?" Asked the teacher loudly to get the attention of the entire class.

The class turned their heads to look at a tall girl with brown hair and brown eyes who had a tired face that looked like she had been sleeping not too long ago, she was dressed in a white shirt and a long black skirt, on her chest was a white colored device and in the center of it was a bright blue circle.

"Um?" Lena said as she tried to process the question since being asleep not too long ago she didn't pay much attention to the question.

"You don't know? That's what you get for not-"

"The first Quirks to appear were mutants, a person with horns, wings, invisible or even glowing like the sun, but Quirks were very rare in those times, it's not like today where 90% of the world's population is born with a Quirk. In those times Quirks were dismissed as simple mutations or new diseases, although it didn't take them long to realize what they really were... and after that the war broke out... and the rest is history" Lena answered with a grimace of annoyance while she repressed the urge to yawn.

Most of the class was impressed that she could answer that question when she was sleeping through class, the teacher in particular was grinding her teeth as she faked a smile and thanked Lena for her class participation.

Lena meanwhile, simply sat back down at her desk while looking up at the ceiling....

It had been several years since she regained her freedom, still, every time she sees the sun again she always feels the same feeling... the feeling of being able to do whatever you want without restrictions.

Something similar happens with small spaces... she feels like she was tied or trapped even if it is not so, when she goes through an elevator her breathing usually becomes a little faster than normal... I guess the psychological after-effects have not completely healed...

Shaking her head to push the bad memories out of her mind she focuses on remembering the good things....

After her release, she continued to train her body to keep it in constant shape, but not to the point where she would be incredibly muscular.

She had focused mostly on her lower body because it was easier to move her legs than her arms since they were limited by the leather straps of the Slipstream, thanks to this she can be proud to have a legs of her own she would crown as beautiful....

But back to the subject, with Winston's supervision and with Uncle David's influence they had gotten her a martial arts trainer who was dedicated to teaching an ancient martial art, Taekwondo.

Although she doesn't seem to have much talent with Taekwondo, she was able to master some techniques and learn a lot of that fighting style.

Now, why had she gotten a martial arts trainer?

The answer was...because Lena was bored.

High school with her level of intelligence and knowledge is child's play, training while she enjoys it is not something that entertains her much, she had already read most of the books at home and was not interested in becoming a scientist like Melissa.

She was at a dead end, well, more like a boring point in her life, and she hates boredom.

"*Haa* I've already run out of ideas of things to do...*" Lena muttered to herself, as she tried to think of something that would keep her entertained and be fun...

Lena was walking out of school when....

"Please be my girlfriend!" said an average boy bowing to a girl who seemed genuinely surprised by the sudden proposal.
In front of Lena a confession of love was unfolding between two people. Lena simply avoided them by walking down another path but the proposal was still on her mind....

The scene kept coming back to her mind over and over again no matter how hard she tried to forget it, she only remembered it more strongly...

Lena didn't understand why people confessed, she understood what love was and what it meant, but for Lena love at such a young age doesn't work in most cases... or so she had read.

She doesn't see the appeal of being in a relationship or getting married, for Lena the 3 phases of a relationship are: Boyfriends, Marriage and Children.

While she doesn't dislike the idea of having children, she's not particularly excited about getting into a relationship, at least not right now, and if she had to get into a relationship with someone....

Without realizing it due to the depth of her thoughts she had arrived home, as she was distracted she bumped her forehead against the front door of the house.

"Ow" Lena said as she rubbed her forehead before opening the door and entering....

"How was school today dear?" Winston's voice was heard from the kitchen, Lena could smell a delicious smell, possibly pizza....

Lena went to put her things down on the couch before heading to the kitchen, indeed Winston was preparing a pizza... well, more like the automatic oven was preparing it for him.

Lena quickly gave Winston a hug before opening the fridge and grabbing some apple juice.

"Boring as usual...can't I just skip a grade and graduate quickly?" Lena asked as she put the game back in its place and sat down at the table, waiting for the food.

"We talked about that, you can't, you skipped all of elementary school because of the incident but this time you have to be present for the whole school year, when you get a job and on your record they see that you skipped elementary school and skipped grade in high school, they will think you used some kind of influence, and then who would want to hire you?" Winston reasoned with Lena as he took the pizza out of the oven and started to slice it.

"Uncle David would probably want to hire me...plus there's a job that you don't need schooling to work at..." Lena countered half-heartedly, Winston had placed the pizza in the middle of the table and went to get the plates.

"I don't think David will let you work with him...and what's the job you're-...oh no, no no no no no no no and no..." Winston shook his head as he turned to look Lena in the eye.

"But-"

"No Lena, you know that being a Hero is a very dangerous and very risky job, 67% of heroes don't make it to 50 years old, almost half of the rookie heroes or heroes in training die half way through, sure, the pay, fame and reputation are amazing but in exchange for that you put your life at risk over other unknown people's lives..... it's even riskier for you because of Slipstream, it's not designed for big battles... if it was in America I would have possibly let you be a Hero but in Japan... that's just asking for death..." Reasoned Winston with a frown as he sat down and began to eat a slice of pizza, still looking at Lena.

Lena wanted to talk but she knew she had no argument against what Winston was saying, especially about Japan, there may only be 6% of crime in the country and that's because of All Might, but that 6% is very false, that measly 6% represents the amount of villains that have succeeded in some of their misdeeds, if we talk about real numbers... better not to talk about that....

"But I want to be a hero, I want to help people, I want to save them, I want to see them smile, I know it's selfish of me to want to be one with my current condition... but I don't want anyone to go through the despair I went through... I know my circumstances are unique but if someone feels that weight in their heart I want to help them..." Lena exclaimed looking Winston in the eye with determination.

"That's what you can be a psychologist for" Winston growled as his frown deepened....

"Lose, but... I was given a very unique power in the world, a power that if I push it to the limit I might be able to save thousands of lives... I don't want such a power to go to waste!" shouted Lena as she stood up from her chair and stared at her father.
Winston simply held Lena's gaze for a few minutes before uttering a few words....

"Sit. down." Winston said quietly with a look of fury in his eyes, the voice may have sounded like a whisper but Lena heard it clearly so she quickly sat down but without taking her eyes off her father.

After a few minutes where it looked like Lena's heart was going to explode, Winston suddenly smiled.

"Nice one, you passed" Winston said good-naturedly before diving back into the pizza.

"?" Lena just looked at him with a big "?" symbol in her head.

"I already knew this was a possible development, so I was a bit prepared for this situation although I didn't expect it so soon, I approve of your decision... but what I said about heroes is true, still, do you want to go through with this?" Winston asked with a straight face although he had a slight smile on his face.

Lena was puzzled by this but come to think of it, her father almost always seems to know what she is going to do or say so she just shrugged her shoulders with her characteristic smile and....

"I, Lena Oxton, will give 100% of myself to be the heroine who can save the most people in history!"
