Description:

A jelly cube monster that emitted green light. Its only purpose is to eat trash and everything in its path.

Relatively slow like their cousins’ SLUGS. But once it captures you, there’s no escape, and its acid will quickly dissolve you into nothingness.

? Sticky Grip

The Gelatinous Cube can shoot out its sticky hand and attempt to grab hold of its prey. Enemies hit by its sticky grasp are grappled and can’t move.

“Huh?” Leonel tilted his head to the side. “What’s up with this monster? It doesn’t have stats.”

“It’s because it’s unkillable,” said Ren with a serious face. The severity in his voice made everyone gulped.

“U-unkillable?” Nikolai retreated near his sister.

“W-what do you mean by that?” panic rose in Roxy’s heart.

“It means that we have no choice but to avoid it.” Ren went to the nearest turnstile and pushed it to the next area. With his action came another sound of falling objects near his location.

Ren noticed that the turnstile rotated left and right, depending on where you wanted to push them, and the dropping sound followed where the turnstile was moved.

It was only his theory, but Ren wanted to test it nevertheless. “Everyone, push the lever to the left.”

The others did what Ren said, and the noise kept dropping near their left, together with the other noises.

Ren blocked those noises created by the other guilds and focused on the sound his group made. Hope ignited in his chest when his conjectures were right about the turnstiles and the dropping sound that followed its turn.

Now the only problem was the Gelatinous Cube that roamed in the area. They were apparently attracted to the trash and eat anything in its path. There was no escaping its since it body occupied the whole lane like they were made for their exact size. The only escapes were the turnstiles, and Ren and the others had to navigate the maze to get to the exit while avoiding the Gelatinous Cubes and the falling trash.

When everyone was on the other side, Ren watched as the Gelatinous Cube swept the trash as it went forward before it turned on a fork, apparently attracted with another trash.

Ren said what he found to the others, so they knew what to do in case they got separated. “The only problem now is that the more we turn these levers, the more trash, and those monsters drop into this area.”

“Eghh . . . and it’s not just us who’s turning those pieces of metal,” Roxy muttered with a deep breath.

“It’s a raise against time,” said Sumeri. “We must escape from here as soon as possible before those monsters surround us.”

“The developers wanted to chip our numbers still, but this time, we could get wiped out since there’s no timer to save us,” Ren added, and the others’ faces darkened.

“And remember what I tell you?” added Ren, and the others nodded in understanding.

“Alright, let’s go.” Ren led the opposite way from the direction in which he pushed the turnstile. He felt that area was brimming with Gelatinous Cubes now.

Despite Ren’s confidence, he was moving blindly. There was no clue to the exit, so all they could do was avoid the trash and the monsters.

However, as they moved deeper into the chambers, they saw piles waste, the Gelatinous Monsters eating them clean, and the other guilds who were running everywhere. They even bumped into each other and raced in the same path while a Gelatinous Cube chased them from behind.

There was also the issue of falling garbage every few seconds. Everyone was caught by surprise, and their HP potions depleted faster than their breath from running nonstop. Their only respite was that the monster was slow and sluggish, so they had enough time to escape to the next area.

Ren and the others weren’t safe with the falling debris either. However, their potions weren’t depleting the slightest, thanks to their Thieves, who were stealing potions left and right from other players they’ve bumped. It was the reason why Ren insisted on bringing them in the first place despite their low physical damage.

And Ren made sure that those two Thieves only increased their LCK and nothing else for the past few days all for this exact reason –– to steal items with a hundred percent success rate.

It didn’t say in the rules that PvP during the wars was prohibited, so Ren and the others were free to loot the other guilds as they pleased.

The other groups could only curse and scream their indignation when Ren’s group robbed them off their items. Some didn’t stop to confront them because they were outnumbered, while some who did were easily defeated and pushed out of the way.

And since the other guilds didn’t bring any Thieves in their ranks, they could do nothing but outrun Ren and his group so they wouldn’t lose more of their potions, which wasn’t been successful in their part because Roaring Tigers and Fighting Lambs were all running like madman right behind them. It was like they were starved for weeks and saw them as food.

At this rate, the guilds felt like Roaring Tigers, and Fighting Lambs were scarier than the monster.

“You thieves! Give back our potions!”

“Scums! As*holes!”

“You’ll pay for this!”

“Looks like we’re enemy number one now.” Roxy weakly laughed.

“They’re all our enemies in this war anyway,” Leonel said without a care.

Being nice and sympathetic had no place here. All the top guilds were ruthless. There was no room for pity. Ren thought.

“Ops, monsters alert.” Rox pointed to the two Gelatinous Cubes that were gaining on them on both ends of the path while the nearest turnstile was just a meter from the Cube on their left.

If the Gelatinous Cube passed through that only turnstile, then all of them were goners.

“Shit! Let’s hurry!” Roxy screamed though her hopes were diminishing as the seconds ticked. The only turnstile was at least fifty meters or so, and all of them couldn’t [Blink] or [Teleport] since they used it in Gorm a while back.

The only choice was to run in that direction in less than ten seconds in hope that the Gelatinous Cube wouldn’t pass it first.

“We wouldn’t make it,” Ren said.

“You don’t sound panicky at all,” said Sumeri, asking, “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

“Do I know what you’re thinking?” Leonel butt in.

“Am I the only one who doesn’t know what everybody is thinking?” Roxy asked.

Rox was confused. “What is everybody thinking?”

“Could somebody clarify what everyone is thinking?” Nikolai plead.

“The turnstile,” both Ren and Sumeri said at the same time. “Snipe it to the left.”
