The process that the two are doing is a delicate process that needs careful consideration as one mistake would make the magic stone go wild. This is one of the reasons why only professional miners are able to extract large magic stones with mediocre success rate. An amateur would easily break the magic stone and would make the mana inside it leak out into the atmosphere.
If the two of them are to make a mistake, then the supposed grade of the magic stone will drop by one. It would be fine if it is a pinnacle magic stone as it would degrade to a large magic stone, but the story would be different if it is a large magic stone by nature.
