“We finally arrived at the Upper tier dungeon!”

Ranna cheered happily although I could understand how she felt. I was also excited, should I scream too?

“It’s so pretty.”

“Of course it is, it’s called the flower garden dungeon.”

Ciara seemed to agree with Hannah’s assessment.

The dungeon seemed to be almost like an island that was surrounded by the ocean but there were several fields of colorful flowers spread out around inside.

“It would be a waste to walk over them and trample the flowers.”

“Should we collect these?”

“Are you trying to pick it clean?”

Rana came to me with a novel idea but if we picked all the flowers wouldn’t that turn it into just some sort of island dungeon? Although I guess since it is a dungeon the flowers would be restored eventually.

“Hey, let’s hurry up and move on! Monsters we haven’t seen yet are waiting for us!”

Is that some kind of joke? I know all of the monsters that will appear here, in fact it’s probably a good idea to explain to the others what we might see here so I asked Rana to wait.

“Wait up, the monsters in this dungeon are a bit annoying. I think I should explain the difference between the monsters in the upper tier dungeons and those in the intermediate.”

“Of course, your teachings are very useful.”

“I’d like to hear this as well.”’

“Mr. Zephyrus here with another lecture huh? You’d think I’d be used to this by now.”

In the end everyone nodded and even Rana tuned in to listen.

“The first big difference is the traps here. If you step on one of them it will shave off a fair bit of your HP so we should try to avoid them as much as possible.”

The traps would take the form of a damage floor, although despite the unpleasant terrain it was possible to collect things near it. Often the materials near the traps would be a good source of income for the students. As I was explaining this Ciara had taken out her notepad and was taking notes.

[T/N: Damage floors, are those little tiles in 2D games and stuff that are like spike or poison traps. I don’t actually know if we have a term in english for them other than just traps? You know those games with the square tiles that you move around on in the game kind of like pokemon style movement and sometimes games like that one square deals damage to you…. Yeah those things.]

“Next, monsters in this dungeon will used various methods of attack. In addition to AOE and ranged attacks their attacks may now contain an attribute or might inflict an abnormal state. Rana should be especially careful as you may end up taking damage unexpectedly.”

“Okay. Can you teach us more about the specifics later on?”

“Yeah.”

In the previous dungeons we had to face a fireball here and there but fire was the only attribute used in the intermediate dungeons. In the upper tier dungeons ice and thunder attributes are introduced alongside it. The attacks that create an abnormal state in the victim are mainly just poison attacks here but its still better to have Rana purify them as soon as possible to avoid the unnecessary loss of HP.

In addition to this there are a few enemies who will use debuffs here or even call other monsters in as back up. There aren’t very many of them but they are quite trouble some to deal with and require a proper strategy to counterattack effectively.

“Does anyone have any questions?”

“How many floors are there?”

Good question Hannah, it looks like I’d skipped over some important information again.

“There are 20 levels in total and we will be able to raise our levels up to 50 in the upper tier dungeons.”

Also in these dungeons are when hidden doors first start to appear. I said it twice because it was important and I wanted to make sure everyone had heard what I said. There is powerful equipment behind these doors as it was from behind one that I got my Sky series equipment.

The location of the hidden doors is fixed, however since they are hidden you would need a skill or special items to discover their location. Unless of course you had already found them multiple times before like I had them there were no special requirements. Of course in the online forums there was another way you could take the guessing out of the game as there was a complete collection of the location of said hidden doors. As such, finding these hidden doors shouldn’t prove to be much of a challenge for me.

“Hidden door, Chest…”

“Oh! I bet if we found one there would be lots of treasure!”

“I’m looking forward to this!”

It’s good that they are looking forward to it as I intend to stop by one later.

By the way the reason that we had decided to come to this dungeon today was mainly because it was a collection dungeon. Our main purpose in coming had been to collect alchemy supplies for Hannah. However as we continued forward for a bit we noticed something we hadn’t seen before.

“Oh, there are other people here.”

“Oh some upperclassmen. This is the first time we’ve seen other people inside a dungeon.”

“Zephyrus, should we say hi to them?”

“It’s probably better not to since they will be exploring as well, we don’t want to get in their way.”

“I see.”

There’s another reason for this. If you get involved with another group you would probably end up having less opportunity to hunt and collect and it would be far less profitable overall. As such you would just end up wasting a bunch of time.

By the way the reason we hadn’t run into anyone else before was because we were moving ahead of the others that would usually occupy the lower tier dungeons. It’s usually pretty common to run into other people in a dungeon. If you got injured you could also put out a call for help and the school would come rescue you.

“Let’s move on away from them while we focus on collecting. Although Ranna should be paying close attention around us since all the rest of us will be working with our hands.”

“Leave it to me!”

After that we moved out although a little hesitantly.
