A hole is dug in a large rock blocking a well to make a bed. There is no space to cook, so we satisfy our hunger with two pieces of bread, one with carbonara sauce and the other with regular bread.

The bread with carbonara sauce is delicious, but I only ate three pieces of bread today. It is a little wretched that I have to cut down on food.

I have been exercising a lot for the past two days, but it is hard to eat enough. Let's get a lot of food at sea and eat so much that we feel like our stomachs are going to burst.

I have a lot of work to do, but I have to do my best to secure food before I collapse from hunger. Come to think of it, we have more things to do. We can create a mobile base and store it in our magic bag so that we can protect ourselves and take a break anytime we want.

This is another project that I want to start as soon as possible to ensure my own safety. It will be easier to move in the land of the dead if you can cut out as large a rock as possible from the rocky mountain and make your life somewhat comfortable. We must not forget that.

"Yuta. Are we going to level up today?"

After we finished eating, I was thinking about something when Sylphy spoke to me.

"Well, I want to keep my level up, but ...... Sylphy is going to pick up the water spirits, right? You'll lose sleep."

"Don't worry about that. Spirits sleep, but they don't have to sleep. Sometimes they don't sleep for days at a time.

Genie's handy, huh? I don't know whether to envy them or not. Well, maybe the happiest thing is to be able to sleep when we want to. Is it just because I'm human?

"Well, I'd like to ask you to level up."

"Okay. Then let's get started."

"Yes, sir."

Follow Sylphy and smash zombies and skeletons as you find them. Skeletons are good opponents because we can get magic stones and weapons from them. We crush the zombies and give up on collecting the magic stone.

It seems that you are doing the work now. It's like killing slimes and leveling up. But it's sad that the only opponents are zombies and skeletons. It would have been better if there had been more fantasy-like monsters to level up.

A land of zombies and skeletons is more in the category of horror than fantasy. If I hadn't met the spirits, I would have thought I had wandered into a panic movie world.

I return to the well after three hours of killing zombies and skeletons, thinking about stupid things.

"Yuta, has your level gone up?"

"Wait a minute. I'll take a look now."

He chants "status" and checks the screen that appears in front of him. This moment thrills me no matter how many times I see it. It is encouraging to see the results of our actions.

"Oh. Your level has reached 12, and your Strength, Magic, and Dexterity have increased by one rank.

"Oh, well, then you can make a deal with this girl."

"Keizoku-"

The young genie is flapping her arms and legs and making a fuss. Are they pleased with the contract?

"Do you want to make a contract right away?"

"I appreciate it, but is it really that easy for a young genie to make a contract with me? And don't you need to do any preparation for the contract?"

Yuta can talk to, see, and touch spirits. He can talk to spirits, see them, and touch them. He's a pretty good candidate, so I have no complaints about him. And you don't need to be ready to make a deal. If you can only sense the presence, you need to do a lot of preparation to sign the contract.

You've been chosen like a property. Well, if you don't have a problem with it, that's good. You must not have such a difficult personality to complain about how easy it is to prepare.

"Speaking of which, what's in it for the genie?"

For me it's only an advantage, but I think it's only a disadvantage for the spirits. It's just harder for me because I have to lend my strength to protect my contractor.

"There are advantages for the spirits too. By signing a contract, the connection with this world becomes stronger, and it becomes easier for a genie to rise in rank by receiving magical power and exercising his/her power. Simply put, it makes it easier to rise to a higher level."

"Is it so attractive that I'd sign up for it at the risk of being taken advantage of by a jerk?"

The temples are likely to be angry at the contracted spirits for overworking them. But it's a pattern of losing power at the critical moment and being smacked in the face.

"The contract is a position where the genie lends you his/her power, so you can just cancel the contract if you become displeased with it. Well, I rarely make a contract with someone I don't like."

What the hell. I can quit if I don't like it? That's a pretty favorable contract for the spirits. Then it's possible to make a contract on a whim. If you don't like it, you can just terminate the contract. I'm sure the spirits have a trial period.

"What's it like to give away your magic? Is it safe for them to take your magic all at once?"

"When you make a contract, there is always a little bit of magic power flowing to the spirit. Because of this, unless you make a request that exceeds the limit of the contracted spirit's power, there is no such thing as a sudden loss of magical power.

Do you feel like you usually have a stockpile of magical power?

"How much can a young genie do if you give it your all?"

"It's hard to say how far I'm willing to go, but I'm ...... sure I could blow this whole area out of the water."

Lower class spirits have surprisingly unfashionable power. She's just a little girl.

I see. Then, young genie. Will you make a contract with me?

"Okay!"

How light. I hear I'm easy to make a contract with, but it would be quite a shock if my contract with a genie is easily terminated after all the hard work I put into it.

Sylphy, what should I do?

Well, she doesn't have an official name, so give her one. If she accepts the name, the deal is done. If the spirit has a name, it will take a little more work.

"All I have to do is give it a name. It's certainly an easy means to an end."

It's just hard to come up with a name. It's a wind spirit, so it can't be something simple like Kazeko. Since it is a fantasy, a western style name associated with wind would be better.

Wind is Wind in English, so Win...... would be another cheap name. Breeze is also not suitable for a little girl. It's hard to know a word for wind other than ...... English.

How about a goddess related to wind in a different direction? I only know Aura and Ninril, but I think they are good names. ...... I've been thinking about it, neither Aura nor Nimrile has had any bad luck in the mythology. I hesitate to give such a name to a little girl.

It is difficult. Any cute-sounding words for wind? ...... storms...... storms...... wind chimes...... wind bells. Windbell sounds good. I can't think of anything else. And I think it goes well with the little spirit laughing happily as she flies. Yeah, let's go with that one.

It's decided.

"Yuta. Are you okay?

It was so much work that it made me want to sugarcoat it. Unlike naming a game, there was a lot of pressure.

"Yeah, I couldn't name it something weird, and I had a lot of trouble coming up with a name, but I think I managed to come up with a good one."

"I wonder what kind of name it will be. I'm looking forward to it."

Please don't pressure me. I beckon and call to the young genie, who was flying around bored while I was worrying.

"Your name is Windbell. Your name is Windbell. I named it after a glass bell that makes a beautiful sound when the wind blows it.

"Uindoberu. Belle!"

She is smiling as she repeats her name. Do you like it? A young genie suddenly jumped into my chest. I hold her in my arms and feel her light but sure weight. What's going on with the genie's body? So many wonders.

"Beru!"

Belle declares as she looks up at me in my arms. I know because I named her just now. I pat her head and ask her.

"Well... Do you like it?"

"Yes."

"Hmm. Bells of Windbell. I think that's a good name. We have a deal. Congratulations, Yuta, Belle.

Ha-ha-ha. I'm glad you like it. I'm glad you like it. But I don't feel any different now that we have a contract. Are you sure you got the contract right?

It would be nice if there was some kind of event such as the power of a spirit flowing in or Belle evolving into a mid-level spirit.

"The contract is in place. You can ask Belle for a favor. She should be able to float a little.

Oh, that's an uplifting event. I ask Belle, who is smiling in my arms, to do me a favor.

"Belle. Can you do me a favor?"

"Sure!"

"Whoa. Oh. We're floating. I'm flying now, right? Great. That's great, Belle."

I am now free from the yoke of gravity. I thought the wind was going to blow me away, but it's not. I do feel a gentle breeze around my body, but other than that I feel almost nothing. I've never experienced it before, but maybe this is what it's like to be in a zero-gravity space.

"Hehe. Belle, that's amazing!"

We drift in the air for a while, then land on the ground. I'm impressed. I've gone through a lot in the short time I've been here, but I feel like all my hard work has paid off.

"Belle. Thank you. It was so much fun to fly."

"Leave it to Belle!"

When I thanked Belle, she was so happy to be praised that she was flying around laughing. I'm starting to feel a paternal awakening.

"You got the contract right, didn't you?"

"Yes. I've seen it work on me, I'm sure of it. It was an amazing experience."

"I'm glad you're pleased. I know it's late, but are you ready to rest now?

"I don't know. I'm probably tired, but the excitement of flying hasn't put me to sleep yet. If Sylphy and Belle are okay, I'd like to try to defeat the ghosts and wraiths, wouldn't you?

"Good. Neither Belle nor I will get tired from all this, but Yuta, don't be reckless. But Yuta, don't be reckless. If you push yourself too hard, you might get caught unawares.

Sylphy has the dignity of an older man at times like this. Come to think of it, I wonder how old Sylphy is? Is it dangerous to talk about age to a genie? What a god to say to a god who doesn't touch you. It's not cool to get angry out of curiosity. I'll pretend the age question never occurred to me.

"Okay. I'll be happy to fight ghosts and wraiths once I get back.

I have a full schedule tomorrow. Once I'm satisfied with the results, I'll be able to sleep soundly. I'm looking forward to it.
