Max had arrived at the location from where he could clearly observe the building which probably stationed the person with the highest authority. He was probably the guy who was controlling the scene of Dark Society here.
"There are a lot people around.." Max frowned as he looked at the heavy security and large number of enemy troops rushing around. They had managed to regroup quite a bit of their forces and were now sending them out to support their comrades who were fighting out there.
There were a lot of Master Tier Mages around, and quite a few were stronger than Max. It didn't seem that he could enter the place that easily. Hell, there was also a Grandmaster Tier mage keeping a watch from above.
He wouldn't survive if he was caught.
"Tap!"
A tiny little sound entered Max's ear, and he immediately turned around with his dagger piercing straight towards the neck of that person sneaking up on him.
"It's me!" A panic voice sounded in Max's ear and the tip of his blade stopped a centimeter away from his eye.
"Gulp!"
Max looked at the guy who was breaking out in sweat and shook his head.
It was Naze.
"Don't sneak up on me in such a situation, unless you have a death wish." Max looked at him before turning his attention back to the matter at hand.
"What kind of ears do you have?" Naze looked at Max in disbelief. "I came quietly thinking that you will attack if I alert you.."
"Well, that sure went as you planned then," Max replied calmly. He then turned his head to look at him, "Where had you been all this time? I didn't see you around."
"I had some personal matters to deal with. I was only a minute late though. I swear." He looked at Max with honest eyes, but Max wasn't going to believe a single word of his. It was most likely that he was up to something else. He had been here to participate in this after all and there was most likely a motive behind it.
"Why are you here? I thought you were going to stay at the back and command?" Naze looked at Max in confusion. He sure didn't remember this being the part of his plan.
"The plan has changed.." Max replied before suddenly turning his head to look at the guy, "How strong are you?"
"Me?" Naze looked at himself and then scratched his head, "Not much actually…"
"Don't lie.." Max stared at him. He definitely felt this guy was the strongest person he had seen in people close to his age. He definitely seemed stronger than Synthia and others from the Ancient families.
Well, Bell from the Zatch family might be an exception. The guy was hiding his strength and was definitely not weak at all. But, Max didn't know who was stronger between the two.
"Why do you ask? You wanna infiltrate and cause chaos?" Naze looked at the building and saw that there were a lot of enemy forces stationed there.
"Well, that certainly is a part of the plan. But, not the main objective.." Max muttered quietly.
"So, what's the main objective?" Naze was busy observing the situation ahead, and was already calculating their moves when Max dropped the bomb.
"The main objective is to kill the Branch leader.."
"..."
Naze turned his head to look at Max for a second. He then put his pinky in his ears and gave it a good twist. "Can you say that again? I think my ears are ringing.."
Max stared at him in silence.
The two exchanged a glance for a few seconds before Naze's face twitched. "You have a death wish?"
"How the hell are you going to fight a Grandmaster Tier Mage? It's ridiculous!"
Max was already expecting that reaction and why wouldn't he. It really was a crazy stunt that he was trying to pull here. There was almost every chance of death that one could have here.
"I know, but there is no other way here. It is something that must be done. So, think something fast." Max muttered with calm.
Naze's face turned dark, but he didn't leave.
Max was honestly surprised by his action. He thought that the guy would just run away on hearing about it.
'Why is this guy going so far?' Max looked at him in confusion. He at this moment knew that whatever Naze was trying to achieve had to have an important role for Max in it. Hence, he was trying to protect or help him.
"Give me a few minutes of silence and be on the lookout.." Max looked at Naze as he spoke and then closed his eyes.
The next moment, Max found himself standing in the spirit world.
"What are you planning to do?" Andriel asked Max with a frown, "This is too dangerous.."
"When has it been safe?" Max replied as he walked towards one of the areas of the spirit world where a hostage was currently being kept.
"Where is this place?!!"
"Untie me!!"
"You damn brat!! Untie me!!"
Freya, who had been defeated by Max the night before, was kept in the spirit world. She had yet to be questioned about the events regarding Wilson's mom.
She had been blindfolded to prevent her from seeing the place. So, even if she was released, she would have no idea where she had been kept all this time.
"Where are you damn brat!!!"
Max and Andriel stood in front of her as she kept on shouting and kicking her legs in that cage made of earth.
"I am here." Max broke his silence allowing her to know of his presence
"Finally! Release me at this instant!" She retorted in anger.
"First answer my questions, and I will take you out of there." Max calmly looked at her as he prepared himself a seat made from earth.
"What is it?!"
Max could hear Frey grinding her teeth in rage.
"How important are you to the Yule Family?" He asked with calm.
"Wh-"
"You are only allowed to answer." Max shut her up.
"You will regret being cocky…" Freya definitely was not used to this attitude.
"I don't have time to mess around." Max raised his hand, and released his domain.
"Hmmn?" Frey frowned as she suddenly felt a weird sensation all over. The next instant, her face turned pale when she realized that her vitality was being sucked.
"Wait! What are you doing?! Stop!! I will tell you everything!!" She immediately shouted in panic and Max finally stopped.
"You should have said that sooner.." Max pulled his hand back down.
Even though Frey knew that Max wouldn't dare to kill him, he could still suck away a chunk of her life span. As long as she was still alive, there wouldn't be major trouble. But, that wasn't even the main problem that she stopped him for. It was just that having one's vitality sucked would make them age rapidly.
So, even if she was left alive, she would be a grandma even while being in her late 20s.
That would be worse than death.
"Hurry up and answer! I don't have much time!" Max shouted with a frown.
"Yes! I have an important position in the Yule family. I am the Great Elder's mistress.."
Max's face twitched. He sure hadn't seen that coming.
"Is the Yule family aware of the importance of the object that you are trying to take away from Erina?" Max asked as he closely observed and for sure, he noticed the shock that appeared on her face for a second there.
"I don't know what you are talking about. I was just trying to bring back the thing that you stole from that kid."
Max raised his hand and once again released his domain.
"No! Wait! I will tell the truth!!' Freya immediately broke out in cold sweat feeling the same sensation all over her body again.
"They know what that thing is. But, only the Great Elder and The Patriarch of the family are aware of it. I haven't been able to find what it is until now.."
Max frowned, listening to her, "Then why are you infiltrating them?"
He thought that her motive was the artifact. But, hearing her, it seemed that she herself was not aware of it's value. What was she then looking for in the Yule family then?
"I have been there under the Order of my father, the Lord of Daigo Family. It was to observe their actions and report everything happening around there."
"There are only Five Ancient families and I certainly don't remember Daigo being one." Max looked at her.
"All the people in the Ancient Family don't have the same last name. Most of the people with different awakened powers are brought from outside world and they retain their surnames."
"It is the same with us."
"Anyway, we are a part of the Kingsman Family…"
Max slowly got up from his seat. He had heard enough. The plan was formed in his head. It was time to put it into action.
