Chapter 45: Let's remove the magic from the soil!!

Having almost completed my urgent work, I had come with Hippopo to remove the magical elements from the soil of the land to be cultivated.

In fact, this is the alchemist's original work in the pioneer land.

Crops will wither or turn into monsters if the soil contains high concentrations of magical elements.

Therefore, it is necessary to remove the magical element and release it into the air.

However, the process is simple.

We are just about to place the special devices on the ground at equal intervals.

Rocks are removed in advance, and holes are made in the roughly tilled soil, just big enough to fit our hands in. It is hard, but not too hard that even I can't manage to dig it.

"Bumo!" comes Hippopo's voice.

"What, are you going to change?" I ask Hippopo.

Hippopo shakes his head and comes closer to the hole I have started digging. He deftly digs out a hole with the claws of his paws.

Each stroke is a big one. In no time at all, he is done digging.

"Oh, that's great, hippopotamus! Well, I'm going to mark them, so can you do the digging for me?"

Hippopotamus, wagging his tail and wagging his tail, willingly accepts our invitation.

From there, it was quick. Hippopo was done digging at the same speed as I was marking. In no time at all, the holes were evenly spaced on the land to be cultivated.

I take out my backpack and pull out the equipment for removing the ammunition.

"All right, let's set this up. Then we will take a rest.

The apparatus we took out looks like a bulb. Metal pipes sprout from the top of the bulb in all directions.

The bulbs are dropped one after another into the drilled holes.

"Okay, I'm sure I didn't miss anything.

Hippopo shakes his head left and right to check with me.

I take out the scroll for bulb control and unfold it. The bulbs are activated at once in tandem.

"Deployment, start of magic element conversion."

A magic circle appears on the scroll as it spins around. In response, a magic circle appears on the bulbs buried in the ground.

The magic circle begins to rotate slowly.

As it rotates, magical elements are released into the air from the pipe in a shimmering motion.

"All right, all right, all right! I pat Hippopo on the back for helping me out, saying, "Now I just have to be careful not to drain too much magic element.

Since there is nothing else to do, I take a rest on Hippopo's sitting back and play with her.

"The sun is shining so brightly today.

The sun is shining and it is a little hot for a nap. I move the scroll, which is still unfolded, to make a sunshade.

I take out the scroll of transcriptions, thinking I'll read some of my predecessors' papers to pass the time. I take out a scroll of transcription, a scroll that I have crafted specifically for this purpose.

"Uh, oh, there it is. Here it is. I'm glad I colored it for clarity," he muttered.

On the blue scroll, I had transcribed a set of papers that I had kept in the basic research section before I retired. I was sure that Rehalzam and his colleagues would throw them away.

I find the paper I am looking for and begin to look through it leisurely. It was about a comparative study of the concentration of magic elements in the soil and the wheat grown there.

The conclusion seems to be that food grown on land with a certain amount of magic elements left in it tastes better to humans. However, the taste does not seem to change. The paper speculated that the brain perceives the ingestion of magical elements as a taste.

As I read the paper with interest, I noticed that Hippopo

I move.

"Bumomo?"

"Oh, I think it's about time. Thank you!" I put away the scroll of my paper and jump down from the hippopotamus.

I take out a pendulum, remove one of the bulbs, and measure the magical element.

"That's Hippopo. Perfect timing," I mutter to myself as I stop the scroll controlling the bulb and finish removing the magical element.

As I continue to collect the bulbs, I see a figure running toward the camp. It is Ary.

"Master Rust! There is someone visiting Master Rust. He may be in a bit of trouble," says Ary.

"A bad person? Did you give your name?" I ask Ary.

Yes, Riharzam," he said, his face clouded with anxiety.
