Xin looks at the broken piece of mask in Nel's head, a cartoon-like skull which sits on the top of her head. A crack runs along the left side of the mask and four teeth on the left side of the skull are broken off.
She also has a large scar coming down from her forehead to her nose and a crimson line that stretches horizontally across her face below her eyes.
How did she get that kind of injury? Nnoitra teamed up with Szayelaporro Granz to perform a sneak attack on Nelliel as well as test a device Szayelaporro created. As Nelliel was searching for her Fracción, she was confronted by Nnoitra, who asked her if she was looking for something.
Nelliel stated it was none of his business and asked if revealing his weapon was a form of intimidation. She advised him to keep it concealed if he didn't want to look weak and moved on. There was an explosion that got Nellie's attention.
Once the smoke settled, she saw Fracción, Pesche Guatiche and Dondochakka Birstanne, gravely wounded. She turned to Nnoitra and asked him if he f.o.r.c.i.b.l.y removed their masks as she became enraged.
They initiated a fight during which a device made by Szayelaporro created a fake image of Nnoitra and distracted Nelliel. By exploiting the opportunity, Nnoitra attacked Nelliel and hit her from behind, causing a wound to her head and her mask to break on the front left side. The attack scarred her forehead and left her unconscious.
Until now Nelliel doesn't have any memory of her past, only her royal servants know the trust but they try to hide it to protect the child Nel from being killed.
Xin gently touched the hollow mask of her and asked," Do you want me to fix this?"
"You can fix my mask?" Nel asks, she then said," But, it's impossible to fix my mask, I heard that I can only fix it if i evolve again, but sadly, I already at my limit I will never evolve to higher benign to fix my mask."
"Don't worry, i can fix it easily," Xin said while petting her head." Fixing this kind of wound is easy for me."
Actually fixing a broken Mask is not easy, after all, everyone knows that the Mask of the hollow is their own heart, fixing their heart is impossible.
There are bunch of effects if ever the Hollow Mask damage or destroy, the most dangerous is destroying because it can cause death for those who are weak hollow, but for the strong one like Pesche and Dondochakka whose mask is destroyed in the past, the effect to them to their mask is becoming weak.
Like Ichigo's case too, the mask gives him tremendous power but after the mask is removed, that power will decline.
But in Nellie's case, the broken mask made her turn into a child, forget some important memories like when she was still a Spada, and the most noticeable is her own weapon, the 'Resurrección'.
"I have a way, but do you want me to heal it for you?" Xin asked.
Nel looked at him and asked," What will I get if you heal it for me?"

Then the Hogyoku shine bright while releasing a gigantic amount of spiritual energy that can feel all over the Las Noches.
Slowly, The mask in her head slowly regenerates while the mark in her face starts to fade.
Seeing the result Xin can't help but to smile.
