Meanwhile...

Inside another private hall at the same hotel that was filled with intimidating men, everyone remained silent as they bowed their heads toward the head seat where Ethan Lu perched. He scanned the room with his emotionless gaze to each and every one of them before he spoke.

"Sit down, there's no need for all of these kinds of formalities." He raised his hand and unenergetically waved it that made the men— old and young— bowing to him raise their heads and fixed their posture.

"Master, I congratulate you once again." One man in his mid 50's spoke first as he congratulated Ethan Lu once again. Yet, Ethan Lu only nodded his head with little interest.

"Hehe, this is supposed to be our own little tea party! Loosen up, young lads, haha!" Breaking the ice, Edward Lu heartily chuckled as he held his own flask. He sat on the other end of the long table opposite to where his grandson was. By the looks of it, Edward Lu seemed to in a good mood about something.

"Old Master, it seems like the game you put earlier made you in a good mood." One of the most respectable members of the Lu family chuckled back as he humored Edward Lu.

"Of course! Who wouldn't? The atmosphere became more vibrant after that! Haha!"

"Old master, did you perhaps have anyone in mind? Our Lu family needs a more stronger back up from the government and Senator Wang's daughter seemed to fit perfectly!" Sharing the same enthusiasm, the man that audaciously as he conversed with Edward Lu with ease when he inquired and added his opinion and well, his guess.

"Carter, you think so?" Giving him a knowing look, Edward Lu acted like he was just merely having a private conversation with Carter Rong as if the person he was talking about regarding his marriage wasn't around.

"Old master, don't you think Mr. Li's daughter also suits as the perfect candidate to be our family in-laws?" Another man from the side chimed into the conversation and spouted his opinion regarding their future in-law. Master Li across from him remained calm and composed as he sipped the wine because he didn't need to do the talking for him.

Still, Manuel Li humbled. "Elder Lu, your words are too kind. I don't dare suggest our family as I don't think my daughter could even stand on the same ground as our new master."

"How ironic Mr. Li, but you are the one who opened up about it." Joining the fun, Dennis Lu marginally raised his brows as he sneered without bothering to conceal it.

Upon hearing Dennis Lu's remarks, Manuel Li scoffed inwardly as an unreadable glint flashed across his eyes. Surely, Dennis Lu guessed his intention to rise up in the ranks which he wouldn't let happen. After all, he would not just bow his head down to the master's in-laws who were initially bowing down to him with the difference in their ranks.

As the conversation got tenser as shady remarks could be constantly heard, the man who they were discussing about remained silent. Ethan Lu wasn't bothered to listen to this waste of time as he read the tons of hate messages on his dummy account as "lexinumberonefan".

After seeing his crazy cousin Evelyn Lu, he felt he somehow got the horror that maybe, one of these crazy EliXi shippers that he constantly argued with was his cousin. Hence, to confirm this not so important thought, Ethan Lu sent five "Hey, Eve!" messages to the accounts that usually replied to him with spite whenever he comments on EliXi picture collections.

"Well, why don't we ask Ethan about what he thinks about it?" Just then, Edward Lu pointed at Ethan Lu that made everyone turned their attention to him.

Sensing that everyone's gazes were on him, Ethan Lu raised his head and furrowed his brows as he looked at his mischievous grandfather who was enjoying his little game.

"I said, at the end of the day, it's still your choice who you wanted to marry. Hehe, aren't I a good grandfather?" Heartily laughing, some who were used to Edward Lu's favoritism towards the new headmaster just looked at Ethan Lu while others who were opposing Ethan Lu were displeased because Edward Lu just indirectly said to them: Ethan Lu has a right to have a say to anything including this matter.

"Grandpa, aren't you having too much fun tonight? But, well, you are indeed my very awesome grandfather!" Winking, Ethan Lu grinned as he put down his phone as he received nothing from the five accounts he left a message with. Well, since Evelyn Lu was still at the function hall— maybe partying— she wouldn't be able to read it even if she was one of the five EliXi fan accounts that he messaged.

"Hahaha!" Laughing even more, Edward Lu slammed his palm on top of the table as he could not help his gleeful laughs. Only the men around the long table are the ones who didn't get the telepathic message between the grandfather and grandson duo as they could only awkwardly laugh along.

*****

Back to the function hall...

"Miss Du, I see you are very righteous. Are you also interested to be Master Lu's future bride?" Smiling brightly, Lexi ignored whatever slanderous remark Stella Du spouted without reserve as she cunningly diverted the finger on her.

Of course, the moment Lexi uttered those words, Stella Du suddenly froze from her innocent play pretend as that was a crucial blow on her. After all, she was trying to get all the hate from the insecure young misses onto Lexi and saying such words that might raise the brow of them and turn against her— she suddenly found it hard to respond.

"I guess you are not... or are you?" Slightly tilting her head to the side, Lexi smirked. She knew that the moment Stella Du would say that she was not interested, then, the other Lu families who were present would surely get her name out of the list. But, if she admitted that she was, then, the people dissing her would also take this chance to mercilessly lower her morale.
