Carlos nodded. "Rest assured! I always keep my word!"

Finally, the two men seemed to yield, and they completely let their guard down as one of them said, "The person behind us is Nora Mo."

'Nora Mo!'

The name reverberated through Carlos's mind like a lightning strike.

He was filled with disbelief and struggled to focus on anything except her name.

All that he heard was a buzz in his head, as if the man's words had reduced him to unconsciousness.

Nora's name kept resounding in his mind, reducing him to a great big mess.

Finally coming to his senses, he got up and grabbed the man who had spoken by his collar. Barely containing the anger in his voice, he warned, "I warn you not to lie to me! Nora was with me the whole time on that day. How could she have committed such a crime under my nose? How could she have orchestrated the whole thing?!"

The man reacted instantly. From Carlos's expression, he deduced that Carlos was quite familiar with Nora, and he immediately knew what was going on. He shrugged Carlos's hand off and said, "I don't have to lie to you at all. What's the benefit in that for me?"

The man had noticed the change on Carlos's face. Then, he continued, "If you really want to find evidence of her involvement, that's no problem. In the hotel where we were staying, you'll find a phone that we used to contact people outside. You can go check the records. Then, you will know the truth."

Hearing these words, Carlos felt his heart freezing with disappointment. While he didn't believe what the criminal had said and thought that the man was talking nonsense, he couldn't argue with evidence. What if he now found evidence against her? Could he still deceive himself then?

The other man was busy writing the name and address of the hotel where they had stayed down on a scrap of paper. Grabbing the paper, Carlos felt his heart palpitating even though he might find the person behind this.

If it really was Nora who was behind this, what should he do?

Arriving at the hotel, Carlos found that it was a small hotel. This was why it was favored by criminals. When he showed the receptionist at the front desk the work card, the receptionist was instantly confused and shocked out of his wits. This was only a small hotel, and the owner wouldn't want to be implicated in such a public scandal, or else the hotel would have to close its doors.

After a short while, Carlos stepped into the room that the two men had shared. He did not allow anyone else to follow him inside, so he entered the room by himself. Following the instr

path. If he knew that the threat of the poisoning was no longer a hold over her, he would find some other means to bargain with her. Perhaps he would then do something really bad to Carlos to gain her support again.

Thinking of this, Nora refuted, "I really don't think Carlos and I are well matched. It's not good for either of us to continue wasting our time being with each other. After some consideration, it's better for us to just break up immediately. Plus, I've realized that I was just infatuated with him, and I didn't really love him at all. I guess you could say that I've realized he means nothing to me now. I've let him go."

Nora maintained a very calm tone as she spoke to Darren, as if what she had said was a sincere statement.

She thought that she had convinced Darren, and he would believe her. When she listened carefully for his reply, she suddenly heard the sound of loud applauding from the other end of the call.

Nora instantly knew something was wrong, and soon, she heard Darren's devilish voice saying, "You have discovered that the poison we gave him is actually just a substance that causes his body to have an allergic reaction to alcohol, right?"

She didn't know whether Darren was just guessing or if he had planted informants in their group. Without leaving any other recourse, she could only pretend to be surprised. "What did you say? Do you mean that Carlos was not poisoned?"

However, she was way out of his league. Darren didn't fall for her naive pretense of being an idiot.

He thought for a while before he replied, "I don't care if you really didn't know about it or not. However, now that I have told you the truth, I'm not afraid of you finding out about it."
