Seeing that the evening was drawing to a conclusion, Jacob said, "Emily, as I've said, he is fine. Look, we're already here, so we might as well go and eat something now."

Hearing that Emily hadn't eaten yet, Louis's face darkened, and he asked with a frown, "Seriously? What's wrong with you, Jacob? Why don't you take better care of my sister? Are you starving her? Take her to eat something right now."

"Wow, who do you think that you are speaking to? You are even ordering me around now," Jacob said as he raised his eyebrows. "If you took better care of yourself and didn't get yourself checked into the hospital, then Emily would not have had to rush here to see you without eating something first. Huh?"

Turning to Emily, Jacob raised his hand imploringly. "Now, do you see that he is very much alive and kicking? He even has the energy to quarrel with me. So you can rest assured now, can't you?" Jacob looked at Emily with a look of exaggerated grief clouding his face. "Since we have seen him, can we please go get something to eat now? I am so hungry."

"Yeah, Emily. I'm fine. Please don't worry about me," Louis added with a smile.

Emily heaved a sigh and nodded as she said, "Get some rest, and I will come to see you tomorrow."

Jacob raised his eyebrows slightly at Louis as he embraced Emily. Then, he said, "We're leaving. Take care of yourself and don't cause any more trouble."

"Take good care of my sister."

The two men seemed completely indifferent to each other's words, and only cared about the orders they each issued like generals on the battlefield.

Jacob and Emily left the ward, but when they saw Taylor standing outside, Emily stopped.

Taylor had not expected their visit to be so brief. She held a bag of fruits in her hand and smiled awkwardly. "You've only visited for a short while. Are you leaving in such a hurry?"

"Yes, we haven't eaten yet. We are going out for some dinner." Emily nodded lightly. "Taylor, why don't you join us?"

"No, no, no, thank you." Looking at Emily awkwardly, Taylor waved her hand and shook her head quickly. Afterwards, she added out of concern, "Emily, is your... condition stable now?"

When Emily was about to answer, Jacob cut in abruptly. "Thank you for your concern, Dr. Tang. My wife is quite stable now."

Taylor nodded, her guilty conscience burning her. She knew that Jacob was guarding against her saying something. "Then, I am pleased. You two take care and travel safely."

Before Emily could respond, Taylor turned around and left.

a moment's reflection, he pinched her chin and responded, "I'm familiar with the south of the city. I seem to remember having seen a restaurant known as Paradise."

"Then..." Emily stammered as a cunning smile crept onto her lips. "Let's go."

The weather had turned more fair, and Emily was in a good mood. It proved not to be as easy to find the restaurant as Jacob had imagined. Judging by its name, he had thought that the restaurant would be a high-end establishment, but driving along the route shown on the GPS, he finally found that Paradise was only a small exquisitely decorated tavern when he parked in the lot outside.

As they looked at it, the decorations appeared to be a little antique and old-fashioned.

Jacob glanced at his mobile phone and noted a message from Sam. It read, "Everything has been arranged!"

His lips curved into a satisfied smile. No matter how small this tavern was, he would dine here with Emily since it had been her choice.

Cordially received by a waiter at the tavern entrance, Emily and Jacob were led to a private room. There was a small window inside the room that looked out onto a small courtyard. Inside the space, they saw two large and strong dogs that the owner had raised.

The dogs were reclining on the ground, and they lowered their heads again after looking up at the couple in the window for a moment.

Jacob sniffed like a dog and asked, "Emily, do you smell something strange? Is it perhaps the two dogs?"

Emily sniffed like Jacob and laughed, shaking her head at once. "I think the air is filled with the smell of delicious food everywhere."

Whatever the smell was, Jacob was pleased to eat here as long as Emily was happy.
