Estelle rested her hand on the doorknob that would open the door to Ethan's study.

She took a deep breath and tried to collect her courage, but she couldn't stop her hand from trembling. She slowly closed her eyes and licked her lips. Then, she suddenly turned around, took a glass of cold water from the table, and gulped it down. Blowing cool air over her warm lips, she walked to the study again, but she was still nervous.

Squeak...

Eventually, the door made a small sound of protest as Estelle pushed it open.

The curtains of the study were fluttering with the wind blowing in from outside. But Estelle didn't pay any heed to the curtains. Instead, her focus remained fixed on a small drawer in the large desk that occupied the study.

She had been in his study before to clean it, but Ethan had never allowed her to open this drawer. As per his instructions, she had never opened it. However, Ellen's words had been haunting her mind like a demonic force. She just wanted to find some proof about whether Ethan had indeed been looking for another girl while stringing her along.

If so, what was her worth to him?

Estelle's hand had already settled on the handle of the drawer, but she drew her hand back. She massaged the palm of her hand. It was numb and cold.

Estelle rushed out of the study as fast as she could, only to return moments later with a cloth duster in her hand. It seemed that she had now gotten everything ready. She took a deep breath again, closed her eyes tightly, and opened the drawer while a sense of dread filled her.

The drawer was empty…except for…

Inside the drawer was a delicate box.

Estelle's heart skipped a beat. The first thing that came to her mind was that it might be an engagement ring.

But then, she laughed loudly. Since Ethan had specifically told her not to open the drawer, there must be something more valuable or secret than an engagement ring inside the box.

Estelle put the dusting cloth on the table. Afraid that her hands were dirty, she wiped them on her clothes. Then, she carefully took the delicate jewelry box out. The moment she opened it, her jaw dropped, and she struggled to believe her own eyes.

The exquisite box didn't contain a ring, but an old and common hairpin.

It was a little girl's hairpin. Hardly a treasure.

Then, as if on cue, Ellen's words played in Estelle's mind over and over again. "He is with you only for some fun. He will get tired of you one day. He doesn't like you at all… He is secretly looking for another girl...a younger girl."

There was another girl!

He was clearly in love with someone else, as he was keep

"Estelle, that flower hairpin has nothing to do with you. She can't affect you either."

"She can't affect me?" Estelle snorted coldly. "Ethan, if she really can't affect me, you would have explained to me promptly, just as you did upon your encounter with Ellen."

A guilty expression crossed his face, but he was still reluctant to explain.

Estelle waited for Ethan for about twenty minutes in the hope of getting an answer from him. When her mobile phone flashed 19:30, she stood up and said, "I ask you for the last time. Will you give me an answer or not?"

"Estelle, please, give me some more time."

Ethan scratched his head. His hair, which had been neatly combed, suddenly turned into a mess. Estelle bit her lips and smiled, but there was a trace of sorrow in her eyes. "Ethan, I will give you some time, but I think we'd better separate for a while. Both of us have to calm down."

"Where will you live?" asked Ethan sadly.

Estelle took a deep breath and looked around the simply decorated room. "Jingshi City is so big. I don't believe that there is no place out there for me to live."

This time, Ethan didn't try to stop her from leaving. When Estelle turned around, she couldn't help bursting into tears. She bit her lips to hold back her sobs.

She said to herself, "Ethan, we will surely not meet again!"

In fact, Estelle had no place to go now after leaving Ethan, so she took a taxi back to the Wang Family. It was dark in the Wang Family's home when she arrived. She stood at the front door for a long time. Sybil didn't answer her phone until Estelle had called her several times.

"Open the door for me!"

Estelle and Sybil were not on good footing, but now, she was the only person who could open the door for her.
