"Why did you come back now? Aren't you suppose to be away on your business trip?" Emily asked in surprise.

As Sean finished treating her wound, he explained himself, "Yeah! I just came back to fetch something which I forgot."

Emily could tell that he was lying, but she didn't try to debunk his lie. Instead she asked mildly, "What did you forget? It's unlike you to be so careless. Can I help you?"

"Nope!" He smiled and said easily, "I can find it by myself. Your wound should be kept out of water for the next few days. Remember to take care of yourself, okay?"

"Okay!" she answered with a nod.

Sean went upstairs and quickly walked into his room. He wandered around and selected a random thing to complete his lie. When he went back downstairs, Emily's tiny figure was standing with her back to him. He strode forwards and reached out his arms, encircling her waist from behind.

Pushing his face into her neck, he whispered next to her ear, "I don't want to go. I want stay here with you."

His words surprised and alarmed her, and she asked, "What about your work?"

"Nothing is more important than you," he countered, breathing in the pleasant scent of her hair.

"But..." Emily became anxious because she wanted him to leave. However, she could not just say so, instead she replied, "That would not be good for your work. If you gave it up every time, just to be with me, your business would suffer. What if the Lu Family went broke because of this? How would you then afford to look after me and my baby? We could not live on air."

It was only a metaphor, of course. After all, it would be impossible for the Lu Family's century-old heritage to go bankrupt.

However, her answer lit up Sean's dark eyes. He enjoyed hearing from her mouth that he was a part of her future life. To him this meant that she still depended on him like before.

It was as if they were close again like before.

This both pleased and relieved Sean.

"Don't worry about it. I will always work hard to support you and your baby."

Gentleness filled his voice and he snuggled closer to her.

Emily felt his tenderness, but she didn't care for it. What she really cared about was him leaving as soon as possible. She didn't even want to breathe in the same air with him. His closeness made her skin crawl. She only wanted to be far away from him. When he was gone on business, she truly enjoyed his absence.

"You know what? You don't seem to be vomiting as much lately," Se

!" Emily yelled with wide and fearful eyes.

'What kind of psychedelic was that? Did I take a bottle of philter by mistake?' she screamed as her thoughts became panicked.

Sean ignored her yelling, for he only saw Emily in this moment. His mind was blank except for the overwhelming need to have her.

She rolled down from off the bed and ran to the window.

He stalked her to the window. While she was still thinking of how to deal with this, someone's hands grabbed her around her waist and lifted her out through the window. Emily yelled with shock.

She knew that she would not get injured, because her room was on the first floor. But the unexpected move still startled her.

As she turned her head, her first sight was of the familiar and handsome face that she loved so well. Tears filled her eyes at once. Emily opened her mouth, but she failed to find the right words to say. Instead she wept with joy.

Jacob looked down at Emily, as he treasured her in his arms, while a big smile spread across his face. He kissed her gently on the forehead and apologized, "Sorry that I'm late!"

Before Emily said anything, Sean began clumsily climbing out through the window to take Emily back. But he kept calling for Cloris. The drug had made his movements sluggish and clumsy now. His eyes were swollen and he seemed to be stumbling around.

"What about him?" Emily knew what a mistake she had made. She had just wanted to give Sean a lesson in the first place.

"Don't worry about him. Now it's our chance." Jacob held Emily tightly in his arms as they hid under the windowsill. Then a woman in a maid's dress jumped in through the window.
