Emily tightened her lips and regarded him with an uncompromising air. After a brief pause, slowly unknitting her eye-brows, she sighed, "Let bygones be bygones. I don't want to talk about it again."

After much deliberation, she still couldn't believe that Tyron would be the kind of person inclined to stir up trouble, so she decided to give him another chance.

However, this was going to be his last chance.

If Tyron were to squander this opportunity, he would lose her trust forever.

When Tyron realized that he had managed to fool her again, an arrogant smirk almost escaped his mouth, but he managed to feign humility and simply said, "Thank you, Emily."

In her blithe indifference, Emily said, "You don't have to thank me for that. I just don't have the time nor the energy to pursue that matter any further."

Regardless, Tyron was just glad for the chance she had given him. "Thank you for believing in me."

Jacob noticed that Tyron was slowly trying to get closer to Emily, so he pushed him away without hesitation. Fists clenched with blanched knuckles and the nails dug deeply into the palms of his hands, Jacob desperately fought the urge to punch Tyron's complacent face.

Tyron stood there like he had nothing to be ashamed of. The man's blatant lack of self-respect was truly unsurmountable! 'Damn you, Tyron! Damn you to hell!'

"Tyron, you'd better wipe that smug smile off of your face, before I do it for you!"

Tyron gave a wee smile and replied, "I'm afraid that you will be disappointed, Mr. Jacob."

Having realized that it was not only pointless to argue with Tyron, it was also a massive waste of time, Jacob walked away, holding hands with Emily. The gloom expression on his handsome face spoke louder than words.

"Why are you still be willing to believe him after all the treacherous ploys he's tried to pull on you? Emily, please tell me what's on your mind. I have to say that you are getting more and more difficult to understand."

The thought of Emily's lack of faith in him made Jacob feel downcast and insulted. A feeling of great discomfort started to grow inside him, like a malignant tumor spreading through his body.

"Do you want to know why?" Emily moved closer, taking his hand to hers, lacing their fingers together and peered deep into his eyes. "The reason I gave him another chance is because I don't care about him at all. Honestly, it doesn't matter whether he is telling the truth or not. However, I care about you so much that I have a feeling of being swayed by considerations of gain and loss. From now on, honey, I promise you that I will trust and support you under any circumstances, no matter what. Okay?"

Jacob was pleasant

time."

Carol was deeply moved my Emily's affectionate gesture. "Sweetie, you've been taking such good care of me, but I am not even sure that I deserve it..."

"What do you mean you don't deserve it?" Emily interrupted Carol with an expression full of disagreement, "If it weren't for you, I would have been the one lying on this bed. I am going to take good care of you, so you'll just have to accept it. Don't worry about it too much. Don't forget, I am your daughter. If I don't take care of you, who will?"

Carol's eyes glazed over at Emily's words. A sense of guilt came over her heart because she was aware of what Tyron had done the whole time and she didn't do anything to stop him.

She admitted that it was selfish of her to act like that because she assumed that as long as Jacob was with Emily, she would not be able to bring Emily back with her to D country. For this reason, she acquiesced to Tyron's actions.

Furthermore, as she had already regarded Emily as her own daughter, she was not satisfied with Jacob being her son-in-law. Nevertheless, this feeling was mutual as Jacob didn't like her either.

As a result, the both of them were annoyed by each other's presence. However, considering the feelings of Emily, they had to maintain a good relationship on the surface. At the very least, they seemed to be on the same page with regards to this matter, since neither of them wanted to make Emily feel sad or awkward.

"Mom, what are you thinking? Let me get you some soup!" Just as Emily was going to serve her a bowl of soup, Carol grabbed her hand all of a sudden and stopped her.

"Emily, I will drink the soup later. Could you help me to wash an apple? I want to eat it now." When she said these words, a faint of indescribable feeling flashed through Carol's eyes.
