Chapter 844: The Unfortunate Grand Duchess

As usual, Yvonne waited for the Marquess in the room where they had their classes each day.

While she awaited his arrival, her mind went to a certain piece of information that had been mentioned in the script written by the Bird God.

___

According to this script, after tormenting the Female Lead, the three villainess would meet their just ends.

Among the three, Yvonne St. Claire, the unfortunate bride of the Grand Duke of Roschester, had perished even before the happy ending of the main couple.

This side villainess, in an attempt to help her best friend meet the Prince, had invited his lover, Lady Hilda, for tea at her mansion.

By then, Yvonne had already been married to the Grand Duke so her status as the Grand Duchess made it impossible for Hilda who was still the daughter of a Baron to reject her invitation.

.....

Though it might have seemed like an invitation to have tea together, it was nothing more than an indirect display of her power by summoning Hilda to appear before her.

However, in the end, it was Yvonne who had suffered from indignation when she saw Hilda arriving at the Roschester mansion with two knights guarding her.

The uniform they wore proved that they were a part of the Black Shadow Knights, the order of knights belonging to the Grand Duke himself.

This was akin to a blow for Yvonne who was the Grand Duchess yet had never been assigned any knights by her husband.

However, this lady from a Baron’s family was able to move about with two of the best knights in their Kingdom and it was all thanks to the generosity and love of the Grand Duke.

Though Yvonne had already known that he had someone else in his heart and that someone else just happened to be the same woman his nephew liked, she had turned a blind eye towards it.

The only reason she had married him was the King who had bestowed a marriage alliance between the two families.

No matter who he liked, it was still undeniable that he was a member of the Royal family and also the only Grand Duke of the Kingdom.

Thus she had turned a blind eye, pretending to be unaffected when all the ladies in their society would inquire about her husband, but never to her.

The one to answer questions about both the Crown Prince and the Grand Duke was none other than Lady Hilda.

Yvonne St. Claire was just the daughter of an Earl but her status as the playmate of the Princess who also had a good impression in the eyes of the King and Queen had been a thorn in the eyes of many.

Her marriage to the Grand Duke only elevated her status further but that marriage was also the means for many to mock her.

After all, who in their society did not know that the Grand Duke and the Prince both followed that lady from the Baron’s family like little puppies?

This was both amusing and shameful for them to witness.

???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????

However, it was further entertaining to watch the woman who had become the Grand Duchess due to the King’s decree now stand on the sidelines and watch as her husband chased someone else right before her eyes.

While Yvonne did her best to ignore such idle talk by the noisy ladies, she knew that they were right in saying so.

She was just a Grand Duchess in name and there was nothing between the married couple.

They did not sleep in the same room, they never ate together, and the chances of them meeting each other while living in the same mansion were already quite low.

Therefore, there was no point in hoping for a cordial relationship to exist between them.

Yvonne had been fine with the way things had been because she too was disgusted with how the Prince and Grand Duke were behaving.

Therefore, when her best friend Glennise had asked her to separate the Prince from Lady Hilda somehow, she had come up with the most appropriate plan to do so.

She had invited the lady for tea and while this was more of an order than an invitation, Hilda had no choice but to arrive on the predetermined day.

During the time Yvonne would keep Hilda busy here, Glennise could finally gain the chance to speak to the Crown Prince in private.

However, when she saw Lady Hilda walking into the mansion with knights belonging to her husband’s order, a blazing fire burned in her heart.

The love and care that a husband should direct towards his wife were always focused on this woman.

Though she was indignant, she put on a cold face as she welcomed the young lady into the parlor where the maids served them tea.

Even the servants in this house were more courteous towards Hilda, as though she was their Madam, rather than Yvonne who was their rightful owner.

Therefore, out of nowhere, when Lady Hilda lost consciousness while conversing with the Grand Duchess, the Butler of the mansion and the other maids glared at her as though she was the sinner.

Before she could even react, they carried the unconscious lady and brought her to the room next to the Grand Duke’s.

Yvonne’s room was on the far end of the corridor, away from the Grand Duke so that they would not have to come in contact with each other too often.

However, the Butler’s decision to place the lady in the room next to the Grand Duke’s instead of a guest room displayed their respect for Hilda and also proved that she had a higher position in their hearts when compared to their true Madam.

This was another piercing thorn in Yvonne’s heart but she too was worried about Hilda’s health so she had no time to care about their disrespectful attitudes right now.

She followed after the servants in silence and sat on the couch while the resident physician of the Grand Duke’s mansion checked the condition of the lady who had fainted earlier.

While they were still waiting for the test to be completed, someone had burst into the room that had been silent until now.

Yvonne’s worried eyes which had been aimed at the Lady turned towards the door where she found the Crown Prince glaring at her with eyes filled with hatred.

There was a look of surprise in her eyes as this meant that Glennise had failed to achieve what she had put her mind to.

However, she soon bowed to greet him and when she raised her head, she found that the Crown Prince had already walked away without bothering to accept her greeting.

Since he must have been worried about the Lady’s health, Yvonne did not mind his careless actions but when her eyes fell on the other person who entered the room next, she froze.

The Grand Duke, her husband, had strode into the room next and by the looks of it, the Butler seemed to have filled him in on the details of what had taken place in his absence.

Just as Yvonne was about to explain what had caused this unfortunate incident. she saw him leering at her before he too rushed towards the woman laid on the bed.

As she watched the man who was her husband displaying concern and anxiety towards the woman lying unconscious on the bed, tears welled up in her eyes.

No matter how unfeeling she pretended to be about her husband’s infidelity, seeing it with her own two eyes was a whole different matter.

The stinging in her eyes was also felt in her heart but it appeared that no one took notice of her pain as their entire attention was fixed on the pitiful lady laying on the bed.

Before she could come back to her senses, she only watched in a daze as her husband and the Prince shot her accusing glances before they left.

The Prince was carrying his beloved woman but the Grand Duke, even after seeing that his wife was in tears, disregarded her and followed them outside the room.

The Butler shot her a disgusted glare before he too walked away, leaving only her inside this room.

What happened next was only described in a few lines by the writer of the script.

The Grand Duchess was punished by the Crown Prince for the crime of attempting to murder the future Crown Princess of the Kingdom.

She was put on house arrest indefinitely and the chances of her ever getting her freedom seemed negligible.

While the two leads of the script were finding their way towards their happy ending, everyone who opposed their love had been disposed of in one way or the other.
