Ch43 - Hitting the Plane

Although it was not entirely unrealistic for Yu Ran to squeeze into the top 80 from the bottom of the grade, there was still a long way to go.

Chu Mian took out this semester’s Science notebook and asked his aunt to make a copy for him, and then he used several pens of different colors to mark the key points. It was late at night when he finished these things. Chu Mian lay on the bed without feeling sleepy, and Yu Ran’s determined attitude when he decided to stay in the experimental class appeared in his mind.

— You will definitely be in the experimental class, so I don’t want to leave.

Chu Mian opened his eyes in the dark so that he could be more awake.

Before this, he had thought about it and felt that Yu Ran had no reason to stay, but he hadn’t expected… He really hadn’t expected that he was the reason for Yu Ran to stay.

After reconfirming this conclusion, Chu Mian closed his eyes with relief, letting his body fall asleep earlier so that he could welcome the next day’s arrival faster.

In mid March, Ronggang showed no signs of warming up. Continuous drizzle fell on the city, and the weather was gloomy for several days.

Chu Mian was surprised to discover that Yu Ran had come very early today and was buried in his homework. Hearing movement in the back seat, Yu Ran only turned his face to say hello before continuing to concentrate on copying. Chu Mian glanced at his desk and spotted the English papers of other classmates.

Usually, Yu Ran prefered to borrow his homework… After Chu Mian put down his school bag, he hesitated for a moment, but he still didn’t take out the copy of his notes. He wanted Yu Ran to take the initiative to consult him with a problem before he gave it.

The classroom was gradually filled with more and more students. The group leader came over to collect the Chemistry homework: “Yu Ran, I want ‘Fly to the Sky’.”

Yu Ran looked at her confusingly: “Then fly.”

The girl had no choice but to show him a pile of blue exercise books. Only then did Yu Ran realize that he hadn’t written it, and he turned to Chu Mian for it without thinking. Chu Mian had already put his homework on the table so that he could take it directly.

When Yu Ran completed all his homework, Chu Mian expected him to listen to the lecture carefully. However, Yu Ran’s behavior in class was still the same as before. Playing with mobile phones, talking, taking a nap… It seemed that his determination to stay in the experimental class had dissipated with the wind.

Even after a long time, Yu Ran showed no sign of consulting problems with him. Chu Mian was inevitably a little annoyed. He threw his pen in front of him and pretended that he had dropped it accidentally. Yu Ran would always be attracted by it and would take the initiative to help him pick it up.

Later, Chu Mian couldn’t help but throw a copy of his notes on the ground. Yu Ran bent down and got up again ready to hand it to him, when Chu Mian opened his mouth, “It’s not mine.”

“Isn’t this your writing?”

“For you.” Chu Mian glared at him quietly. “There was too much paper and ink left in my home printer, so I made a set of copies for you in passing.”

“Wow!” Yu Ran hurriedly opened the neatly written notes and admired them for a few minutes before carefully stuffing them into his school bag.

Chu Mian wanted to tell Yu Ran that it was for him to listen to in class, but after thinking about it, he suppressed the idea of speaking.

Even Yu Ran himself was not enthusiastic about studying, why should he be more worried than him… Chu Mian took a deep breath to adjust his emotions, and stopped silently worrying about the Muggle.

The class schedule had been temporarily adjusted the week before, and there would be two History classes in a row in the evening. The progress of the experimental class was very fast. In order to keep up with other classes, the teacher would not give lectures tonight and would make an exception to show a movie to everyone. The USB flash disk was full of last year’s films. After collecting everyone’s opinions, the teacher chose to play “Teddy Bear”.

As soon as the lights were turned off, Yu Ran carried a large bag of potato chips and dragged a chair to sit in the middle of the back of the classroom, as if the classroom was a theater.

Chu Mian buried his head in his arms, hiding deeper and deeper.

Suddenly, he heard Yu Ran impatiently shouting: “Hey hey, stop it! We can’t watch this! ”

Chu Mian looked up curiously at the screen. He was caught off guard by a very adult plot. He immediately lay down again, his arms completely covering his hot face, and he tried to block his ears together.

Yu Ran took the lead and shouted, “Xuan ge, you are so dirty!”

The students also jeered at the teacher in a deliberately ambiguous way: “Whoa—”

“Hey, I only downloaded this movie yesterday. I thought it was for children when I saw the name.” The History teacher paused the broadcast embarrassedly, hurriedly found “The Chronicles of Narnia” in the folder, and started showing that to everyone.

The students let out another long cry of disappointment.

Chu Mian didn’t look up this time. He slept until the bell rang and was awakened by Yu Ran’s shaking.

The classroom was bright again, and everyone around was packing their school bags. Squinting his eyes, Chu Mian sorted out his books. In his drowsiness, he heard Yu Ran ask him, “Chu Mian, have you ever watched porn?”

Chu Mian was unable to think calmly. He continued looking down, pretending that he hadn’t woken up and couldn’t hear others.

“I’m asking you something, have you ever watched porn?” Yu Ran chased after him desperately, and mentioned it again on the way home. Chu Mian couldn’t bear it, and said impatiently: “No.”

Yu Ran felt regret for him: “Xuan ge had put up a good porn video just now. You fell asleep and didn’t get to see it.”

“How did you know I was asleep?” Chu Mian’s expression softened and he asked as if nothing had happened.

“Through peripheral vision. You weren’t moving on the table,” Yu Ran said, “Do you want to watch it? I’ll help you find it when you get home.”

“No, I still have a lot of homework. The monthly exam is also coming soon.” Chu Mian reminded Yu Ran. “The grades will be counted when dividing the classes.”

“Yeah, I know that.”

Chu Mian looked at his indifferent manner. For a moment, he became anxious again. He came to a halt and asked, “Since you know, why do you still not listen in class?”

Worried that his tone was too strong, Chu Mian added softly, “You had said you wanted to stay.”

Yu Ran replied in a matter-of-fact manner: “Oh, it’s because I haven’t reviewed the contents of today’s lecture. I’ll finish reading the last unit today, and I’ll listen to the lectures from tomorrow. ”

“… Did you study at home?”

Yu Ran nodded, and proudly said, “I finished memorizing all the Physics formulas from last semester in one night.”

Chu Mian was stunned for a moment, and looked at Yu Ran suspiciously. Although the formulas of last semester were simple and easy to remember, he didn’t think Yu Ran could correctly use them, so he said, “You have to solve a set of questions right after you memorize them, so as to consolidate them.”

Yu Ran sneered with disdain: “Oh my, do you have to tell me that?”

Chu Mian breathed a sigh of relief. It turned out that he had been worried about the other party for nothing today.

Seeing him pretending to be arrogant, Chu Mian pushed his head and instructed: “I’ll send you a few online class lectures when I go home. And remember to read my notes.”

“Sure.” Yu Ran smiled, carried his school bag, waved goodbye, and walked across the crosswalk.

Back at home, Yu Ran logged in to QQ to receive the documents sent by Chu Mian, and then decided to take a shower first. Before going out, he didn’t forget to tell Yu Jin: “I’m downloading videos on QQ. If you use a computer, don’t meddle with it.”

Yu Jin was playing with his mobile phone with his head lowered, and asked inadvertently, “What video?”

Yu Ran also didn’t know the name of the specific course, so he just said, “It’s not for your age anyway.”

Oh?

Yu Jin became interested and said “Oh” lightly.

As soon as Yu Ran left, Yu Jin’s eyes lit up. He threw away his mobile phone, tumbled from the bed to the computer chair and stared at the file transfer in Yu Ran’s QQ chat box, waiting for it to be completely received.

The moment the video was successfully received, Yu Jin plugged in the data cable and sent a copy to his phone. When he heard the sound of water in the bathroom stop, he unplugged the data cable and jumped back into his bed, his heart pounding .

Yu Jin felt no guilt about stealing his brother’s video, and murmured to himself, “As siblings, we should share our joys and sorrows together. And our stash.”

Unable to contain his inner expectation, he plugged in his earphones and shrank into a corner to quietly enjoy the “Collector’s_Edition.avi”.

The screen was pitch black, and a line of bold white letters slowly emerged:

Super Strategy for the New Curriculum Standards for 2009-2012

Soon, there was a noise in the earphones and the picture became clear. Yu Jin saw a woman wearing glasses who said with a smile, “Hello, students.”

Oh, a teacher-student moresome story? Yu Jin was stunned, and felt respect for his brother who had such a heavy taste.

He fast-forwarded nervously, trying to get straight to the main thing.

“Sliding friction is the resistance created by any two objects…”

“…well, after talking about sliding friction, let’s look at static friction…”

“…The static friction refers to the friction present when there is no movement between the surfaces…”

Yu Jin kept sliding the progress bar, and jumped from 10 minutes to 30 minutes. He saw that the video was almost over, but there was still not the “friction” he wanted to see.

“Ptui!” Yu Jin spat hard in the air.

He couldn’t believe that his brother actually watched this kind of unsightly thing in the middle of the night.

After taking a bath, Yu Ran went back to the room. He felt a little cooler with his upper body bare. He wiped his hair and opened the newly downloaded popular mini game “Hitting the Plane“, completely unaware that his brother was staring at him with hidden bitterness behind his back.

He operated the mouse and fired the rocket launcher to knock over the small planes on the screen. The gameplay of this game was similar to that of “NS-SHAFT“. He made mistakes and had to start again in less than a minute each time.

Yu Ran ran out of patience, so he called Chu Mian. He didn’t have anything special to say, but he happened to miss him now, so he dialed the number without hesitation.

Chu Mian answered very slowly. His voice was husky and lazy. He seemed to have just woken up. He asked him, “Have you watched the video?”

“Not yet.” Yu Ran clicked on the game interface with the mouse. “I'm in the middle of 'Hitting the Plane'.”

Chu Mian suddenly became silent.

Yu Ran said excitedly, “We can play together. Let’s have a competition to see who can hold on for a long time.”

There was silence on the phone for a while, and Chu Mian’s voice came after a while: “This kind of thing… Do you really want to compare?”

“Although I’ve just started, isn’t it easy for me to win against you?” Yu Ran laughed heartily. “I think you can hold on for only 30 seconds.”

Halfway through the laugh, he heard Chu Mian say the word “Get lost” gloomily to him before directly disconnecting the call.

Yu Jin deleted the Physics video from his mobile phone and couldn’t help asking, “Brother, you’ve been so out of sorts these past two days that you’ve started studying.”

Yu Ran started another game and answered casually: “There will be a placement exam this semester, and I want to stay in the experimental class.”

“Why?” Yu Jin was puzzled. “Didn’t you say that you don’t need to get a high score to study art?”

“Chu Mian is in the experimental class, so of course I will stay.”

“Chu Mian…” Yu Ran muttered the name, and suddenly realized. “I remember, it was that rich brother who put you to bed last time!”

Yu Ran’s hands paused. He turned his face with the towel on his head and asked suspiciously: “What do you mean he ‘put me to bed’?”

“Once when you drank too much, he sent you back and then put you on the bed.” Yu Jin recalled that scene that was not suitable for children. He still remembered it vividly. He stood up and walked towards Yu Ran. “You two were so close at that time. I’ll show you.”

As he said this, he raised Yu Ran’s arm and let his brother lie on the bed, leaned over and pressed him down.

“Fuck, you stay away.” Seeing his brother getting closer and closer to him, Yu Ran pushed him away. “Why don’t I remember?”

“You also grabbed his scarf!”

Yu Ran remembered that time when he woke up the next day, he’d seen the scarf and hadn’t thought much about it. He had thought that Chu Mian had just forgotten to take it away.

Lying on the bed, he recalled the distance between Yu Jin and him just now, and subconsciously replaced his brother’s face with Chu Mian’s.

“It’s so hot…” Yu Ran hadn’t worn a shirt in order to cool off, but now he was feeling uncomfortably dry from head to toe.

Moreover, there were palpitations in his chest every few seconds, as if in a panic, and he was unable to make head or tail of it.

Yu Ran couldn’t help covering his left chest, and asked Yu Jin in deep thought: “Have you ever felt like you have seen a ghost?”

Yu Jin shook his head.

“Hey, let me think about how to describe it to you. Chu Mian seems to have had this situation before.” Yu Ran touched the position of his heart, and his brain searched for what Chu Mian had said, “It just feels like… I’ve a hole here.”

“Where ah? Brain?”

“No.” Yu Ran raised his chest at him. “Tits.”
